Control Sensitivity Issues, don't know how to troubleshoot

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Got a bit of a weird issue in MS 2024.  99% of the time I fly the A2A Comanche and have 0 issues hand flying.  Everything works as expected, it trims easily, elevator and ailerons respond as you'd expect, etc.

However, anytime I fly any other type of GA or business class asobo aircraft, every control is so sensitive they are uncontrollable.  For example, I have a trim wheel and with a C152, the tiniest adjustment results in the aircraft either shooting up or down to anywhere from 500 to 1,000 FPM.  Elevator is the same - the tiniest input on my yoke and the aircraft goes zooming off either up or down.  On a simple circuit I can't take my eyes off the 6 pack, it's crazy.  Forget about a stabilized climb or descent.

I have to imagine I've got something wonky going on but I don't know what.  I'd be a bit more convinced it was my controls if all aircraft were like this, but the fact that the Comanche handles beautifully makes me think I'm missing something within my sim settings for the Cessna 152 specifically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've found the same myself with the default linear curves for my controllers.  In the joystick settings, I've set my controllers (yoke, stick, and pedals) with an S curve to reduce the sensitivity near the dead zone.

If you nose around the controller settings in 2024, you set a response curve from extremely mild to default. Indeed default is ridiculously far too aggressive. I turn it way down (negative 70% on both sides for all planes). This is not such a big deal for huge and heavy airliners, but is very critically important for small planes (at least for me).

In the procession of SU's for 2024, where you set these response curves in the options menu has changed completely. It can be hard to find the new locations. But they will always be right there, once you find them. And you can see the pointers move when you for instance step on the pedals (in the earlier versions of 2024 it did not move in the app. It does now, just like it used to do in 2020 version).

For some unknown reason, ASOBO can't understand that the flight control response is linear. When people need to reduce sensitivity by at least 30% to get a decent response, it should be a red flag. Unfortunately, not for them.

2020 or 2024?

Appreciate the responses. Going to mess around with the sensitivity settings, going to try and set the S curve sensitivity for my ailerons, elevator, and trim wheel to see if that helps at all. I do think I’ve tried that before and it’s resulted in just a larger dead zone as opposed to actually decreasing how much the sim movement is in relation to my movement on my controls (if that makes sense, struggling to describe it correctly) like decreasing sensitivity on the in sim trim just results in having to spin my trim wheel more, but ultimately the same “chunks” of trim being moved, not really more fine tuned control. Perhaps I’m missing some type of acceleration setting as well.

also this is all in MSFS 2024 but I did have slightly similar issues MSFS 2020. Although 2020 didn’t seem nearly as aggressive

Totally agree.

With default sensitivity, I don't have to move my joystick to adjust pitch, just a slight pressure is enough. I mentioned this in another thread and got told it was my joystick, but I've used others and there is little difference.

You either have to give up having linear control, or set the extremity dead zone which means you can't achieve full deflection.

Do you create a profile for the specific plane you're in?  I do, it's easy enough to do but I only use 5 or 6 planes.
