Performance issues after SU16 (MSFS 2020)

A lot depends on the way the update was applied. Was the original Community folder re-named/moved before running the update? Shaders cache cleared and allowed to re-build once restarting the sim? That can take up to 15mins or more. Was the computer restarted after installing the update? Have your settings reset?
Try renaming your Community folder and then fire the sim up, allowing it to create a new (empty) Community folder and check performance then after verifying your settings.

I will check this tommorow, thank you. I did not re-name my community folder, was this necessary to do? I did not know before. Where can I clear the shaders cache? The computer was restarted after the update (SU16) was done. No settings not reset. I will tommorow rename my community folder and then check the performance. Does it create an own new community folder?

Mine seems same as before. Did you change anything else on your system since SU16?

I had 2020 CTDs after a SU. I tried everything, re-installation, etc. Cursed Asobo.

It was only when I ran another game which also CTD that reminded me I'd updated my GPU drivers when the SU came out. The fan curves had been reset and my GPU was overheating.

Which update did you do? Maybe I can try this as well.

Yeah my 2020 seems to be running better than ever with the new recent SU16 update.

I also updated to the most recent driver, no issues for me.

U mean the Nvidia graphics card driver right?

I’m having performance issues also, yesterday I was down to mid teens FPS (native) trying to land in Rotterdam and I’ve got a pretty decent rig (7800X3D/4080 Super) so there’s something weird going on since the update.

I’m going to try all the usual stuff, delete shaders, update drivers, reinstall AutoFPS etc and try again.

I am now getting a 2-3 second pause on just prior touchdown to LDDU which i never experienced before in MSFS2020. I did use GSX preselection of Gate on descend which i normally doesnt do.

Strange

Yes sorry.

So I cleared the shader cache and the rolling cache, and reinstalled AutoFPS. Somehow I’d managed to mess up my settings in AutoFPS and had TLOD and OLOD the wrong way around so little wonder I had absolutely horrible performance. Setting things back has got everything running smoothly again.

Renaming the Community folder before an update is recommended. Something like 'Community_old'. MSFS will then generate a new and empty Community folder which can subsequently (after testing in your case) be deleted and your previous folder renamed to 'Community'. All the files in that folder (your old but now new Community folder) will be available once again.

As for the shader cache:

Does anyone get random sound cut outs?

I ran into some issues last night with the sound cutting out randomly in a few spots.

Quite annoying.

Thank you for the options to look at. I am at work at the moment, when I am home I will try the suggested solutions. The ground is since SU16 also very bad. Not nice at all.

Update from my side:

I havent get time to do a long flight, but I did a short night flight in a less dense area (GMAD-GMTT) and had no problems with FPS/Performance, flying the A320 BFU. I will do a longer flight and see how it performed, due to work/family/kids, it is something a little difficult to make spare time to make a longer flight just to test.
