August 30, 2025Aug 30 Hello i have downloaded Switzerland FC Sceneries demo for evaluation but I am unable to unzip part 1 and 2. any help would be welcomed. thanks in advance
August 30, 2025Aug 30 These are the instructions to download and install. 1. Download all parts and store each .RAR file in a folder with the name of the Product. 2. Decompress using WinRAR (Recommended) only part 1 (Example: Switzerland V2 - FC Scenery.part1) and all parts will automatically be decompressed. 3. Once finished, there will be a folder (Example: Switzerland V2 - FC Scenery) Where inside you will find (Scenery and Texture). 4. Then this folder (Example: Switzerland V2 - FC Scenery) must be activated manually in the Scenery Library in the Prepar3D of your choice. Before connecting Switzerland V2 - FC Scenery in the simulator, unpack, using the same WinRAR, Switzerland V2 - Update V2.1 into Switzerland V2 - FC Scenery with replacement. Now the scenery can be connected to the simulator, it is recommended using Lorby Addon Organizer. In fact, together with the downloaded archives there is an instruction in a text file - "IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS!!!.txt". It describes in detail how to unpack and connect the scenery. For me it looks like this: Spoiler Edited August 30, 2025Aug 30 by Jla6yx Sergey LabukhMy system: Win 10 Pro 22H2x64 / Prepar3D v4.5 (HF3) Academic / Xilence 500W Power Supply / Biostar H310MHP / INTEL Core™ i5 9400F / DDR4 8GB 2666MHz Team Elite - 2 pcs / PALIT GeForce GTX1050 Ti 4096Mb StormX
August 31, 2025Aug 31 Author Hello Thank you for your reply my problem is with step 2 decompressing. Part 3 decompressed but part 1 and 2 no. Error message is received
August 31, 2025Aug 31 Not sure if I understand "Part 3 decompressed, but part 1 and 2 no". All you need to do is download all the parts of the particular scenery. There will be several zipped (WinRAR) files. Then open the first zipped file. Then drag that folder (Example Switzerland V2 - FC Scenery) to wherever you store your scenery files. As soon as you drop that folder into its destination, everything that follows will be completed automatically. WinRAR will copy over all of the other files from the other zips AUTOMATICALLY. JH BTW, these scenery enhancements are simply fabulous, the update to V2 is really making things come alive in P3D Edited August 31, 2025Aug 31 by jhaley101
August 31, 2025Aug 31 A couple of days ago I installed South Carolina V2 using WinRAR. During the installation I get a popup window saying WinRAR is not free, your 40 day trial is up. Other than a twinge of conscience for me it still works fine. I’m not going to subscribe to an app I use very rarely. I think 7zip does the same thing for rar files that FScenery uses to delivers with. Edited August 31, 2025Aug 31 by Patco Lch Vic green
August 31, 2025Aug 31 Author Hello Thank you for your replies My problem was that I was trying to unzip with Windows 11 wich do not handle.rad files. I did it with 7 Zip and it worked well. https://www.7-zip.org Now I do not know if it was tranfered correctly to my P3D library. I did not see much change…….🤔
September 1, 2025Sep 1 You have to add it manually to your library. I have all kinds of his scenery files. I simply choose the one I want, add it to the library and fly.
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Lorby's Addon Manager is a good tool to activate and de-activate the relevant scenery depending on where you are flying. Due to the size of the data you wouldn't want the whole world activated at the same time. Ian S
September 5, 2025Sep 5 Author Thank you guys Maybe you can help me. I am not a techie. My P3D is on my C drive with Microsoft 11 and all my sceneries add on . I see that if I want FC sceneries for Canada it is more than 1000 GB. How can I manage that? Also I would like to have p3d and Microsoft on my C drive and buy another SSD drive to move all my sceneries from C to D drive. How can I do that and is it very complicated. Any help would be appreciated

Any help would be appreciated Hi Indeed the whole of Canada would take up a lot of your C Drive. I keep my FC Scenery data on an external hard-drive, it doesn't need to be an SSD if cost is an issue. Rather than buying a 20TB drive, I have a couple of 5TB ones, but will probably add a third soon. I connect them to a USB hub, I'd recommend a powered one.I have one by Tekera, if you google "Tekera powered hubs" there are a few options. Just plug that into a USB3.0 socket on your computer. As well as an efficient way of managing space, I like the fact that with individual drives can be switched on and off. The issue is that FC Scenery contains millions of .bgl files. If you use AIG AI, that also uses .bgl files. So if you seek to run AI Controller or run an update on AI Manager, it will spend hours scanning these .bgl files. If you just turn the drives off when running an update, it works a lot faster. Its not complicated at all, if you go down that path there is help here in installing the software into P3D, it takes a matter of seconds. Ian Ian S
September 10, 2025Sep 10 As you've noticed they take up a LOT of room .. and as Ian mentions there are LOADS of bgl files, and agn files in the texture folders. I have a dedicated 2TB internal SSD drive with my scenery and other sim addons on it, which isn't big enough at present, but I also have 3TB external hard drive so here's what I've do.... I have full backups of the "scenery" folder of each FCScenery country I've bought on the external drive as a backup. When I want to switch from say the South American countries to say the European ones (I tend to fly in one region for a week or so).. I delete the files in the "scenery" folders on the internal SSD for the ones I'm done with for now, which frees up lots of space, then copy the "scenery" folders only for the countries/region I want to fly in down from the external to the internal .. restart the sim and I'm away. I don't copy the autogen files in the texture folders as there are so many and it takes ages, plus they take up very little actual disk space. Hope that helps. Issue is of course you need at least two big drives, one internal for actual sim usage and performance reasons, the other as a backup Edited September 10, 2025Sep 10 by deeknow Dean Stringer
September 13, 2025Sep 13 Author I am 75 years old and not very technical. I am looking to add an SSD 6TG to transfer all my add ons : OBX, FlyTampa Fc Sceneries to instead of having everything my c drive. The problem is that I do not know how to do it. Many charitable persons have given me in passing some advise like Lorbi organiser or “ I have around 9tb of SSD space. Gradually added 2tb m.2 sticks and installed my addons there.. But to me , unfortunately, it means nothing. Is there a place where I could find a step by step way to do it in layman’s term? Or is there a charitable member who would be willing to help me? This is my bottle to the sea and I hope it will be found. thanks in advance claude
