I disabled Motion Reprojection because it is performance intensive and I am often not able to maintain 45 FPS with it, it drops to 30. But I capped my Frames in Varjo as well, to 45 FPS

  • Smooth motion has nothing to do with DLSS. You can use it with TAA as well, or DLAA. So if you use DLSS or DLAA the blurrieness may stay. I use DLSS and that did not improved but I am used to it and

Yesterday Varjo Base got an Update  4.13.0.16  

My Specs:

VArjo Aero at 35PPD

9900X3D

5090 RTX

Nvidia App latest (Smooth Motion in the Nvidia app ON!!)

OpenXRToolkit: Turbo Mode on and Eye Tracking OFF, upscaled to 4K resolution for Sharp graphics

MSFS2024 FrameRate Limitet in the sim at 45

No FG

DLSS Balanced (but also works with TAA)

Foveated in SIM OFF and OpenXRToolkit OFF

VARJO Base capped at 45 OR 30 FPS, Do not use Automatic, it causes longer frametimes (is occasional stutters)
Smooth Motion in Varjo BASE at ALWAYS ON

The Smoothnes is remarkable and Varjo did optimize the Smooth Motion in their Software, so you get MUCH LESS graphical Distortions or Artefacts. 
So no you are able to use 30 or 45 FPS in the VArjo Aero and have butter smooth experience AND butter smooth motion optics with less to no artefacts.

thanks @mpo910 for posting this.  I'm very intrigued by your findings.  Right now doing frame generation, but have resisted installing the nvidia app as I've seen various reports of issues it's caused the last few months.  Are we now past that point with the app itself?

Well, I had some issues too and then I asked ChatGPT to help me mitigate those 0x000005 Violation issues with CTD. 

Here is what ChatGPT recommended and what I did as well, since then......NOT a single CTD

Since then I installed Nvidia APP and my sim is rocjk solid stable

and you need the NVIDIA APP from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/software/nvidia-app/ not just the control panel. Did install the APP now and was able to enable smooth motion but it seemingly is too compute intense for my rig as I got especially on the ground at the airports this popup message "your graphics settings are too high". deactivated smooth motion and first flight now all back to green again. besides, I did not really see any difference but have to admit that I have capped fps in FS24 anyway to around 40 or 45 IIRC
