October 28, 2025Oct 28 I captured about 7 Minutes, out of different flight sequences of my flight. From TakeOFF, CLB, CRZ today, MMUN - SCEL. The Data is Aggregated in my CapFrameX Tool so you have one graph of frametimes. Important: FrameTimes give you a perfect idea of smoothnes. This was in VR!!! Varjo Aero wit 35 PPD (and 4k upscaled in OPENXRToolkit). Without VR it is exact the same smoothnes. So you get an idea! My PC is well setup, 9900X3D, 5090RTX and Varjo Aero used in this test. PMDG 777, MMUN and SCEL installed (as well other addons (about 150+). FrameMax Setting in SIM 45 FPS VArjo Aero 45FPS Nvidia App in use with Smooth Motion on So Butter Smooth I never saw any of the previous SU´s in MSFS2020 AND MSFS2024 neither in P3D Link to CapFrameX Data Analyses Marcus Edited October 28, 2025Oct 28 by mpo910 Regards, Marcus P.

October 28, 2025Oct 28 I am pleased to report that smooth motion does work on 4000 series Nvidia cards. I have 4070. I can turn smooth motion on and off in Nvidia app, it is available. Just to be sure I asked Google search, AI, and it said: Yes, NVIDIA Smooth Motion is now officially available for RTX 4000 series cards and can be enabled in the NVIDIA App. This driver-level feature works in supported DirectX 11 and 12 games to insert AI-generated frames and increase frame rates, especially in titles that lack native support for frame generation. It made a huge difference when I turned it on way back when it became available. You can not use the FG switch in msfs if smooth motion is on. Native FG and smooth motion will bring the image to a halt real fast. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
October 28, 2025Oct 28 Smooth Motion > Native FG (in my opinion). No contest. BTW, the day smooth motion became available on 5000 series, it also became available on 4000 series. EDIT: SM doesn't work in VR 😞 Edited October 28, 2025Oct 28 by Fielder 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. October 28, 2025Oct 28 How do I enable smooth motion? I’m using DLSS FG and notice some stutters with the latest beta. The stutters is the notorious audio popping issue that seems to be around heavy photogrammetry areas, for me at least. Follow me on : Instagram See my Trailer: A Year Of Flight

There are several videos at youtube as well (Virtu-Sim and VRFlightsimguy) and they fly mainly in VR as well Important is, that you need to set the in sim FrameRateLimiter to half refreshrate of your HMD (most likely 45 or 36, depends on your HMD refresh rate, native 90 or72Hz) That did the trick for me in combination with smooth motion. In my case night and day difference. Yes, NVIDIA Smooth Motion is designed to work for VR, though it was initially introduced for GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs in a recent update to the NVIDIA App. The feature works by enhancing frame rates and smoothing out performance in a wide range of games, which can also improve the VR experience. How it works Driver-level frame generation: Smooth Motion enables a form of frame generation at the driver level, which helps increase the frame rate in games that don't have native support. Global control: It can be activated globally for all compatible games through the NVIDIA App, simplifying the process of improving performance in VR titles. Compatibility: NVIDIA's GeForce RTX GPUs are designed to be compatible with all major VR headsets, and the drivers include performance updates for VR titles. It is, at least at my end, way smoother compared to Framegen. Important: You need to turn off Framegen first, otherwise your screen will flicker purple in a high pace! Regards, Marcus P.

Cannot use DLSS FG for that reason since screens in the e.g. Fenix are tearing. Does SM prevent this? Smooth motion has nothing to do with DLSS. You can use it with TAA as well, or DLAA. So if you use DLSS or DLAA the blurrieness may stay. I use DLSS and that did not improved but I am used to it and with my HMD at 4K Resolution and Cropped2FOV (OhneSpeedMod for OpenXRToolkit) It is not as heavy anymore. But again, smooth motion with TAA is also impressive performance wise Regards, Marcus P.
