December 5, 2025Dec 5 I had made a few livery mods of the default DA62 for 2024. These colors are based on the actual color panel provided by Diamond. My livery pack is at the place. Since red is my favorite I decided to fly the Ruby Red paint from KHWV (about half way up Long Island New York) to KBID (Block Island, RI) Brookhaven has some really nice freeware too Ruby Red is just beautiful! Looking south at Mastic Beach I had jokingly enabled Garmin Pathways for our short VFR flight... pretty amazing tech though! Looking towards Eastport and Westhampton Calverton Airpark (private I guess - long runway!) Passing Gabreski KFOK (I sometimes work private jets from my airspace in Michigan to here... we always say it as FAWK LOL) With a decent west tailwind I sit around 80% power and we're doing more than 3 miles a minute! Looking North towards the Morton National Wildlife Regufe (and then Long Island Sound) Extremely wide angle of East Hamtpon (nearest airport is KJPX) Gardiners Island is privately owned! (And apparently they have a strict trespassing policy eeek) Montauk KMTP is basically as far as you can go before getting to Rhode Island.... there's a really nice little freeware scenery for this airport! Out to sea... but we have high confidence in our twin engine Diamond - Block Island is already visible Looking SE towards Bermuda haha.... only 720 miles or so!! There's plenty of things to see and do at Block Island The Block Island Wind Farm has bad reviews...some locals claim it's killing whales. I couldn't find any scientific evidence on the net... KBID is only 2500 ft but it's lighted - it's about as short as I'd like to go but we also have a decent direct headwind. Strange, I was just testing a virtual C208 before flying this DA62 😉 I actually never noticed the airplane weathervane! So cool! December 6, 2025Dec 6 Beautiful pictures set, Ryan, and dialogs to go with it… aircraft, livery and scenery…all look outstanding… I’ve a very close friend and colleague, who is a long time resident of Long Island. So, we often exchange pleasantries over the phone about snow and weather…🙂…, in Chicago and Long Island. I’ve been to Manhattan 2-3 times, but never to L.I. I see that the Montauk Lighthouse, a custom added POI in MSFS2024, and one that I’ve virtually recently visited…🙂…is not far from your departure point. I wish to go there in RW sometime. I need to fly this Diamond more often, along with the Garmin Pathways, aka the Highway in the Sky…🙂… Thanks for sharing your trip.
