Msfs2024 Control Bindings Driving Me Nuts!

Featured Replies

Greetings, I was one of those peeps who used FSUIPC due to different controllers/settings for each aircraft. Once I sat for a second and watched a 2024 controller setup video, I saw that the last couple of updates brought the capability I needed to create different profiles for each aircraft. I don't need FSUIPC any more, plus I can now set controller response/settings for each aircraft. Just watch one of the recommended videos. In the beginning, it's tedious to set different profiles and settings for each aircraft, but it's worth it. For example, using my yoke, throttles and rudder pedals for the 747 and Cessna. I can create a profile for each controller for the 747. Sensitivities, for each, throttle 1 for eng 1+2 and throttle 2 for eng 3+4. I can then select the Cessna, and duplicate the 747 profiles for each and set as desired. Cessna specific sensitivity, throttle 1 for power and throttle 2 for the prop. Reverse the brake axis for the pedals for the Cessna if needed. You could make GA profiles across all of your GA aircraft if you wanted. But, most likely, you will want separate profiles for each GA aircraft so you can tune specifically. Works perfectly for aircraft that tend to need the reverse axis.

Tip: for me in a lot of planes since SU4 brakes are assigned to Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant buttons. I delete those assignments to be able to use my Toggle Parking brake assigned button on my stick.

I would appreciate if you would explain how to assign "throttle 1 for eng 1+2 and throttle 2 for eng 3+4".  I can't figure how to deal with 8 engines with 4 levers. Thanks.

Very annoying this parking brake kerfuffle some developers indroduced. Parking brake on and off - that was perfekt enough for us simmers - it also often collides with  GSX and the result is that you can cancel the whole flight after long preparation because you cannot get rid of the parking brake.

Did you sort this @mikeymike ?

If not, one more thing you should do that I don't think anyone has mentioned:

There was a similar issue with SU3 where - for a number of users - the sim had randomly added one or more 'Park Brake' commands into one or more of the user's hotas controller settings.

The solution was to go into Control Settings, and then choose each hotas item in turn, click on Search and search for 'Park'.  Any commands that popped up then needed to be deleted.  I found around 5 instances across three of my controllers.

SU4 has done some similar things on some folks' systems (including mine though not, this time, parking brakes) - so it might be that.

If you have a spare mechanical toggle switch that stays in the position to which you throw it, then assign SET PARKING BRAKES to it. And remove any toggle parking brakes assignments. When the toggle is UP, the brakes are locked. When the toggle is down, the brakes are free. Always.

If there was a Toggle Parking Brakes momentary switch in a real plane, the aviation agencies would probably outlaw the plane from flying. For safety reasons.

I too was having this issue with the PMDG and I-Fly. I tried messing with my bindings, assigning parking brakes to a key stroke, etc. and nothing was working. The common theme was that I was spawning/starting from the runway with all scenarios. I tried all the aircraft and actually spawned at the gate and for whatever reason, the parking brakes worked. Weird.

Yes i did sort it out.

Thanks to you guys.

Just went to rudder pedal bindings and set left brake and right brake "toe brake"

And held held them down for a second or 2 and it releases the parking brake.

Cheers

Mike
