Mercedes have been testing them for sometime now, should see them in production (available to the public) end of this year.  The defect rate will be a non-issue as 98% of the materials from a defective solid state battery can be recycled.

15 minute charge time, higher energy density, and 2X duration (range) … and this is at the bottom of the Solid State technology curve … like the video says, just as LithiumIon improved so will solid state … pretty sure 1000mi+ SS EVs will be around in 2030s.

This is not just about EVs. They are a minuscule part of the equation.

Its not the first solid state battery. Solid state and semi-solid state have been around, in testing, for a while. Its the first mass production factory. Demonstration production lines have been around for a while too.

Inevitable.

Agreed.

The battery in my Boston Scientific pacemaker/defibrillator has a life of 10 years. The one in the Medtronics was 8. Neither was rechargeable and didn't have to be as 8-10 years newer technology made it worthwhile to simply replace the unit which was a simple enough procedure and they even gave me the option to sleep through it or not. The leads to the heart were tested and remained in place.

It might be nice to get smart phone batteries as good as the ones in the old Nokia flip phones. Charge it to 100%, use it all week, it's still at 98%. 😄 They were virtually unbreakable, too. They made cases for them, but that was to protect the floor if the phone got dropped. 😄 😄

Be prepared for the EVangelists. They're on a mission from [__]. (I'm NOT gonna type the name.)

Nuclear diamond batteries are the next big thing for low power devices.

Quote

Nuclear diamond batteries (or betavoltaic cells) are ultra-long-lasting power sources that generate electricity by encapsulating radioactive carbon-14 (derived from nuclear waste) within artificial, synthetic diamond. As the isotope decays, it releases beta particles, which the diamond converts into a continuous, low-level electrical current for thousands of years, making them ideal for pacemakers, sensors, or deep-space probes.
Key Aspects of Nuclear Diamond Batteries:
  • Lifespan: These batteries can last for thousands of years, with Carbon-14 having a half-life of 5,730 years.
  • Power Output: They produce low-level, continuous power in the microwatt (µW) range, designed for devices needing long-term, low-maintenance energy rather than high-power applications.
  • Safety: The synthetic diamond casing acts as a radiation shield, making the battery safe to handle.

Does your wife's corporate jet run on a solid state battery?

Maybe he doesn't dictate to his wife what she can and can't do. Not being the Victorian era. 🤔

We don't care what she does. We care about the hypocrisy.

It would only be defined as hypocrisy if he himself owned a corporate jet, would it not?

He and his wife are two separate beings and I'm sure she is capable of having different opinions to him. She might be okay with owning a corporate jet, while he might not be. She might be vegan, he might not be. He might love cats because he is a highly intelligent superior being and she might not like cats. 😁 But I'm sure they would both love chocolate, who wouldn't.

You don't force your wife to believe what you believe, do you? 🤔

Was he right?

Yes, many business people, particularly top executives and companies with specialized travel needs, require business jets to maximize efficiency, save time, and maintain security. They offer flexibility for tight schedules, access to thousands more airports than commercial airlines, and private, productive work environments.

Perhaps, when an electric business jet is available and she can afford one, she'll get one. 🤔

Maybe she makes use of carbon offsets to mitigate the emissions, have you considered that?

Who's been subject to that. And how?

Why even consider this hypocritical scam????

Oh, I'm rich so I'll just buy a waiver(carbon credits) and pollute to my heart's content while all the little people have to follow the rules.  Give me a break.

Are you an apologist for the billionaire and "elite" class now?

"Let them eat bugs!!" -- in the manner of Marie Antoinette, circa 2030.

"But I'm rich! I can afford to waste the world's resources!" -- caption on a comic from the 1973 gas crisis.

We don't know what Mrs. SayAgain is actually like or what she's doing. I'm sure she's a nice person. No comments are intended to be against her.
