March 5Mar 5 Amazon is currently having problems. I usually get the Dogs of Amazon page (which I love!) and sometimes a specific item, when it comes up, has no price or says "currently unavailable". This appears to be widespread. But the real news is that I Googled "is amazon having issues" and got a good overview of what is going on. Now, I realize that some people dislike the Google AI overview, but this is a case where it's really useful. Just gonna have to wait it out, I guess. A book I'd been waiting for was released on Kindle Unlimited today, but I can't get it at the moment. On one page it invited me to join Kindle Unlimited. Kindle Reading Insights does not appear to be affected in any way. S'OK, I got plenty of other books to read while waiting, and all will add to my "days in a row" list, currently at 645 after I broke it intentionally when it reached 700 in March 2024. March 6Mar 6 Author Amazon is back up. Got my book. Google has a good report on it. I would never have thought of using Google AI to find out if a site was down. Next time Avsim has problems I'll look on Google first. 🙂 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

March 6Mar 6 There are a number of websites that check for you if a site is down. Google Ai is no different to checking those sites yourself, just lighting fast. Just entering the name plus "down" will do the same.

So you're saying I should have asked Google what site to use to get whether nor not another site is up or down (eg. downforeveryoneorjustforme.com), type it in with the name of the test site and probably just get an UP or DOWN indication... OR... Just ask the damned question and get a complete rundown including how many people the site is down for, when it went down, when it's expected back up, the nature of the problem, the symptoms of the outage... you know, useful information beyond UP or DOWN. And as you say, it's fast. And thanks to @speedyTC for that list. Hook Edited March 6Mar 6 by LHookins Larry Hookins Oh! Just check out Charlie's post at the end of that thread. Should tell you everything you need to know except how to fix it, and that's covered in several posts in the thread. 🙂 3 hours ago, Fielder said: googling Amazon Dogs landed me on Squeaky the Dog Chew Toy. March 6Mar 6 Author Quote Website Name: amazon URL Checked: www.amazon.com Response Time: 8.81 ms. Last Down: More than a week ago This is from isitdownrightnow.com just now. OK... "More than a week ago" when it was down 12 hours ago for me? How... useful. But thanks anyway for the link, Tony. -------- Alternatively, this is what "is amazon having issues" gets under "AI mode": is amazon having issues Amazon is currently recovering from a major outage that occurred on Thursday, March 5, 2026. While Amazon stated that most issues were resolved by late Thursday evening, some users may still be experiencing lingering intermittent disruptions. 9News +3 Current Status and Recent Issues Resolution Status: Amazon announced that the primary issue, which was caused by a software code deployment, has been resolved and the website and app should be "running smoothly". Residual Problems: Despite the fix, some users have continued to report issues with: Checkout and Payments: Difficulty completing transactions or receiving payment errors. Pricing Errors: Prices not appearing on product listings or fluctuating incorrectly. Order History and Returns: Inability to view past orders or process returns. Affected Regions: The outage was widespread across the United States, with major "hotspots" in cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston. Reddit +6 Infrastructure & Regional Context AWS Health: Separate from the main website issues, Amazon Web Services (AWS) reported power and connectivity problems in the ME-SOUTH-1 region (Middle East) earlier this week, which may still affect specific localized workflows. External Factors: There have been reports of drone strikes affecting AWS facilities in Bahrain and the UAE, though Amazon has not officially linked these incidents to the widespread US website outages. AWS Health Dashboard +3 Troubleshooting If you are still having trouble, you can: Check for Updates: Visit Downdetector to see real-time user-reported spikes in your area. Verify Service Status: Monitor the AWS Health Dashboard for technical backend issues. Clear Browser Cache: Use CTRL + F5 to force a full refresh of the page. AWS Health Dashboard + Larry Hookins Oh! For example, if I cant get on Avsim I just type "Avsim Down" into Google and the "Is It Down Right Now" website is at the top already configured to check Avsim status. Google AI will just attempt to determine if the site is up or down using its browsing capabilities. It can incorrectly flag it as down though. It's not a specialized monitoring tool. It cant check a site if it's behind a login or firewall. Complex Java Script will mess it up. Google AI is better for non-monitoring questions. If you ask it why the sky is blue it will scan numerous websites and give you the answer, super fast compared to your ability to read all of those websites. Edited March 6Mar 6 by martin-w

However, when I go to AI Mode, I get this: avsim.com down As of March 6, 2026, avsim.com appears to be online and operational for most users. Recent reports from early February 2026 indicate some localized "Server issue detected" errors, but there is no evidence of a widespread global outage. AVSIM +1 If you are unable to access the site, try these troubleshooting steps: Check for 503 Errors: Users occasionally report intermittent "503 Service Unavailable" errors due to server load or maintenance. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes local data conflicts can prevent the AVSIM forums from loading correctly. Check Official Updates: While AVSIM does not have a dedicated status page, users often post live updates about site stability on the MSFS Forums or the r/flightsim Reddit community. DNS Issues: If the site is unreachable, try switching to a public DNS like Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) to rule out ISP-level routing problems. Reddit +2 Larry Hookins Oh!
