PSXT Beta Discussion

I thought I would open this thread for discussion about the PSXT open beta.

Absolutely loving the new GUI. I haven't stress-tested it, but all the functionality seems to be there. It worked very well on 2 full flights so far.

I mentioned this to Balt, I'm unable to connect in RT App, so I'm using RT Direct, According to the notes, this isn't supposed to work, but it does. ( I use PSX + MSFS + RT + PSXT, and I have the RT app open and running whenever I fly.) When I switch to RT App, I get stuck in an endless loop in which PSXT closes and restarts forever. This was happening before the new beta. NOTE: It's not a problem for me, because RT Direct works just fine.

When using PSX and RT App, did you tick Aerowinx in the UI? You're supposed to do that...

Good idea! I’ve been communicating with Nico about a couple of minor UI display issues on my 4k monitor which will be fixed in the next release.
I haven’t had the opportunity to test the new separation algorithms, but hopefully soon.

No issues here at all with the beta, more than a little graphic glitch of the window size.

Aerowinx is ticked (and greyed out).

It is greyed out when you are in RT Direct mode.

Hello, I’ve done a couple of flights with the beta and overall everything seems to be working well. During landing at Heathrow I didn’t experience any spacing issues with other aircraft. Of course I’ll need more testing, but so far it looks like everything is functioning correctly.

I only noticed one thing, which had never or very rarely happened before: once at Terminal 5, while waiting for departure, an AI aircraft almost overlapped with my parking position.

Another thing that seems different is the redistribution of traffic between live and static aircraft. There also appear to be some new percentage settings that are not entirely clear to me, and by adjusting them I likely altered the ground distribution of aircraft.

Thanks for testing and reporting! Much appreciated.

Was the AI aircraft live or static?  If live, was it passing by or also waiting for depoarture at a stand?

The algorithms have not changed at all, only the wording in the UI.

Ok, thanks for your reply. I hope to run some more tests this afternoon and report any further “oddities” if they come up.

Regarding the overlap, I’m not entirely sure whether the aircraft was static or live, as I had stepped away from the PC during the turnaround phase between the previous flight and the new boarding. However, my impression is that, since other aircraft had already been loaded, it was likely a live aircraft that arrived and overlapped with mine by about two-thirds. It felt as if a slight discrepancy in spacing was no longer enough to prevent the overlap.

As for the redistribution, I took a screenshot which I’ll try to attach. I was surprised by the relatively low number of live aircraft compared to static ones, and by the fact that there were fewer aircraft than usual at Terminal 5, but overall more aircraft than before at EGLL (apparently shifted toward Terminals 1 and 2). I’ll reassess this impression in the next tests.

I don't fully understand how to manage "generic park" and the possible relation between Max Parked and the % Target.

Thanks again for your work. Your software provides an impressive level of realism — I’m completely addicted to it.

Do not use generic park, leave it at the default value, -1, meaning it is not used.

In the past it was called something like custom parking percentage. It you use it, all airports will get that parking percentage, overruling target %

Well it is quit simple. Normally you do not need Max Park, let it at its default value of 500, meaning it is not used.

Set the number of aircraft you want to see parked at an airport as a percentage of the number of stands (target %). That's all!  PSXT reminds your settings for each airport.

Only if you have a lower end PC that struggles with MSFS, you could top off with Max Park,  but even then I recomemnd that you better lower your target %.

Note that Max Park overrules target % at every airport, so be careful.
