MS 2024 Won't Start

Featured Replies

I did some clean-up on my computer, careful not

to do not to disturb 2024...well, 2024 will not load now,

giving me a white box directing me to the Xbox App for

help...there the only thing to do was to instaall 2024 under

Xbox...did not do that...my original 2024 was store bought...

up to that point in time 2024 was working perfectly...

any help appreciated...

I've just had a similar problem in that FS2024 would get so far then stop with no message.

After some research - including looking at the event viewer, I concluded that gaming services was screwed up.

I uninstalled gaming services AND the XBox app.

Check the Task Manager to make sure that gaming services has gone.

Reboot the system

Install XBox from the microsoft store.  This triggers the automatic installation of gaming services.

Reboot the system.

Check the services in Task Manager to make sure gaming services is now running.

Start FS2024 - my problem is now cured.

Of course this may not be identical to your problem but try it.

I cannot take credit for this sequence of events - I found this solution by searching the forum for tips on reinstalling gaming services.

Same problem here, but how do you uninstall gaming services?

GB it worked!...thank God...

Cianpairs...here is what i did...first, I uninstalled Xbox...

then I started the Task Mgr. and searched (box at top)

for "gaming", found two results and stopped both services...

then I rebooted...then I installed Xbox by searching it in the

search box...this led to a small box that indicated that my

Xbox was "out of date," and I installed the new version

and started 2024 and it worked!...hope this helps...

Thanks everyone.  I think I uninstalled gaming services and the xbox app in windows settings/apps.  Even though my xbox app was up to date, this seems to have worked.

Sadly, I removed all my recent scenery addons and tried a rrepair to msfs2024 before this and that has caused a few more headaches for me.

Glad to get things up and running again though.

Notr sure if you have the nvidia app installed but I've had teh same issue for the last few days on both 2020 and 2024 uninstalled and re-installed both but no change then found an article saying Nvidia app can cause the issue uninstalled that and now all is working again 🤷‍♂️

I hope not as I use the Nvidia App for my DLAA, DLSS, framegen and dynamic framegen settings.

Sadly after resolving yesterday by following the instructions above, the issue came back again after booting up this morning, causing me to have to repeat the process.  I really hope I'm not going to have to do this every day.

... I too, am having this annoying problem..    upset my whole 2024 install trying to fix it.

After uninstalling gaming services and xbox app in windows/settings/apps, I rebooted and reinstalled the xbox app.  I also added the xbox app to startup apps and everything started and ran fine this morning, so this may have resolved the issue for anyone who still has it.

If that didn't work, I was considering re-enabling hibernate on my system until the problem was solved (I have just installed a much bigger C drive to my system so have the storage to be able to do this now).

For me it was just the Nvidia app causing the problem once that was removed both 2020 and 2024 started up fine. Why I don't know but I'm wary about re-installing it.

might be worth uninstalling it to see if the problem is fixed, you must be able to save the settings for re-install.

I seem to have it fixed by installing an older version of  - nVidia app  (I think the Feb release) -  and the sim installation that Id messed up is now more or less back to norms...   feeling better, lol

An upside to messing is that I found out how to get my 'TrackIR5' to stop its disconnecting nonsense.   Just reinstalled to a folder outside of the  -  Program Files (x86)  - folder.  Went against Natural Points own advice.

So far so good......

Reinstall to the location you originally had it installed then use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall. The reinstall to defualt location. make sure you have an exception made within your AV to not scan the NaturalPoint folder/s. Also turn off the always nagging you 'User account control' set to Never notify. Latest T-5 software is 5.5.3

As an alternative view I would strongly recommend that people don't turn off security features of Windows.

Also considering what caused the OPs problem in the first place don't do dodgy 'clean ups' either.
