CTD when scrolling on map screen

Featured Replies

Yes, it's a thread title that we saw a lot of, back in 2020 😊

But after a blissful first day with SU5, I am now getting intermittant CTDs while scrolling on the map screen in MSFS2024.

I've not had this issue since about SU2 back in MSFS2020, over 5 years ago.

But it's back, for me, with MSFS2024 SU5.

I've also had a few launches today that got stuck at the "Loading World Data 90%" point.

Anyone else had any of these issues?   The latter one could be server related. The former, I don't think so.

Don't they do testing on Asobo's end? How can there be major issues like this with each update..?

After installing SU5, I encountered no problems on the first flight, but on the second flight, frequent stutters began at cruising altitude, something I'd never experienced before, followed by a CTD.

I decided to reinstall MSFS2024 and, after completing the same flights that had caused the stutters and CTD, I flew about a dozen more flights and haven't encountered any more problems.

I've also had the have CTD when zooming in on the world map, happened with an empty community folder as well. Before SU5 I had this maybe once or twice, but it now appears to be a common occurrence.

There is an option within the xBox app where it can verify and repair any corrupted file, I've used it and it works, no need to reinstall FS202x

Happened to me last week after updating, but it was related to a specific livery of an addon aircraft, the iFly 737 Max.

Tried all of the usual procedures I had used in similar scenarios before, but nothing was working ...

Flightsimming since 1992

Thanks for the info and suggestions guys.

So the failure for MSFS2024 to load (getting stuck at 97%) was related to an addon in the Community folder - the Skyward Simulations Diamond DA50RG.

The odd thing is - it was not newly installed. It's been in the Community folder for months.  But the error log said that one of the checklist files in it was causing the CTD.   I removed it from the Community folder and 2024 lauched right up.

Really strange though that it's sat in there for a long time, but 2024 has only just developed an objection to it 😄

So I'm back up and running which is great.

The CTD on the map screen. Yes, I believe this one is definitely new with SU5.  I'd never had it before with 2024, just with 2020 prior to SU3 for that sim.

Hopefully it will be addressed with a bug fix or subsequent SU.
