Weather

So was were flying from CYBR to CYWG. Weather in CYBR was rain, and thunderstorms in CYWG.

Hit pause. Went out for a couple fast ones with the neighbors and came in a couple hours later.

As I got closer to CYWG the weather in XP 12 looked just like it was outside. Now that's as

real as it gets. I also use ASXP12 not that that matters.

Yes, does a really good job most of the time, and the latest updates have contribute to shape cloud formations even more realistically.

Add to it the right colours & lighting, and it's really great.

Jim, As another CYWG resident I checked it out too. It was very good.

ok I don't know what is going on, but I am not getting ANY rain, precip, thunderstorms, nothing. There's clouds, and they resemble what might be the look of a storm or rain coming, but nothing. Radar is always also precipitation free, always! I am running the latest BETA.. but I even installed a "clean" seperate version of x-plane (updated but NOT beta) and still nothing.

I have the setting to real world weather, anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

Yes, I reported the issue here:

https://forums.x-plane.org/forums/topic/345863-whats-happened-to-convective-weather-in-1241/

Will be fixed - or at least vastly improved - with the next update after 12.4.3.

Thanks @Litjan ! Thought I messed something up really bad somehow... glad to hear it may not have been me!

Caught my attention so had to go and have a look at CYWG (Winnepeg) - to discover that it is not included in the default airports. Curious omission by Laminar.

User error.

I definitely have a CYWG available in X-Plane 12. And it's not 3rd-party scenery. So I would agree with @Litjan that it might be user error.

Hmmm interesting problem for me then - Little Navmap finds the airport and logs it in as part of XP12, but not Laminars internal change location dialogue - curious Navmap describes YCWB or Winnepeg as being a VFR airport?

Yes, it does.

You need to change the search highlight (it is right next to the search field) to "City" if you type in a City name.

If you search for it with the identifier (CYWG) you change the search highlight to ICAO (although ID will also work).

If you want to search for it by name (James A Richardson Intl) you can leave the search highlight any way you like.

I will not labour issues here re LR and Searches- Learnt out of this and for others that Linux installs of X{12 - well behave like Linux installs in general - even LR's version still follows the Linux logic and hence search functions. Sheesh!
