Anyone try this in VR yet? Waiting for confirmation there are no major issues before I pull the trigger.

I contacted Azurpoly directly to ask about VR compatibility... they responded promptly and very positively. So I went ahead and purchased. OMG! This is a fantastic military add-on! It looks absolutely fabulous in VR and is an impressive implementation. Don't hesitate if you're thinking about it.

Yes, I'm looking at screenshots elsewhere, like Sim Outhouse. I must say, AzurPoly has done a fabulous job with the model and textures. Maybe my resistance will crumble.

So far it’s really a great jet. I haven’t had a chance to do anything serious with it yet other than a couple of joyrides, so we’ll see how I feel come Monday.

From perusing their discord, there are very few bugs reported.

The one thing that I’d like to see improved is ground handling. IMHO the steering doesn’t demonstrate enough inertia or lean.

But as that’s something that affects so many FS addons, I can let it slide for now 😁

I owned VRS Tacpack on FSX days, I have waited so long for this day to come

Yep - I used to run carrier ops using TacPack, but have since switched to DCSW for that. And believe it or not, my TacPack subscription is still active(!). I keep it up for the VRS SuperBug, which I just can't seem to give up.

Still have to go deeper, but at the mo it's at the top of my list for modern mil jets in MSFS.

Sitting in this cockpit makes me feel like i'm sitting in an $80 jet in DCS World for the First. Time. Ever.

A quick trip across the channel:

ILS into RAF Coningsby:

Note all the symbology(!). Getting everything lined up takes patience on both the throttle & stick. This is almost as much fun as a carrier landing in the DCS Hornet (and I LOVE carrier landings in the Hornet!)

Rollout after a few TOGA's. I (finally) did good:

Looks good. BTW I read that it can only release weapons with spawned AI traffic from the EFB. Can we actually do it with ambient MSFS random traffic?

I honestly don’t know…

I think that third vid in my OP talks about the differentiation, but I skipped past that section.

Until the sim itself supports air combat, I’ll stick to DCS World for that type of stuff. So my Rafale will only ever carry drop tanks and Smokewinders 😉🤙

Yes you're right. I think VRS should step in. Btw, I just purchased it. We get 14 liveries, not bad. Haven't tested it though.

Can anybody recommend some good military scenery that would be appropriate for this? Cheers.

There are quite a few payware mil airfields, including an handful of French. Available through MilTech’s website or Contrail (Contrail will do auto-updates, too).

There are literally hundreds of mil airfields on FlightSim.to

I’d let Google do the work for me and find the Air Forces and airfields where these (or at least Mirage 2000’s) are were based, and then cross reference with available scenery.

And of course, ANY good mil airfield feels like home.

Should be plenty to choose from as the Rafale is a relatively popular export jet. 🤙

Thanks for the reply. I did try that but didn't get very far. A lot of the relevant airbases state they are for 2020 only (Like Miltechs one). They probably work in '24. I'll keep digging.

I have the Jaguar, which is great too. I am wondering if I need a Rafale in my life.

VERY different flying experiences. Jaguar is like, well, an old Jag - fast and extremely manual.

Rafale is like a Bugatti Tourbillon

You must have BOTH 😁

How they simulate the automations is stunning. And if you value sound quality, it has the best flyby sound in the whole entire MSFS
