>Ok-I bow to your expertise....>I am still learning with near 1000 hours flight time.>Does that get me girls...?>Although happily married... :-lolGot it.By the way those are some great shots from the cockpit/cabin over at your blog. LOL, from the looks of things you came close to flying over my house yesterday. Musician? I can do a pretty good Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin impersonation and yes that does get me far with women.

I'd be happy with just a static 'realistic' looking male/female (your choice) co-pilot, let alone an animated one, although in the interest of FPS I think I would have to stump for the former. I would be happy with 787/A380, A319, BAE shorts added to the default range of a/c, all FSX compatible aircraft able to work fully in FS11, general performance improvements and easier ability to work with FSX inherited add-ons. I am pretty happy with FSX, it's miles better than FS9, it just took a year to figure out how best to use it (with add-ons).

Absolutely agree Jim. Just because Alex above decides to express his opinion that hand waving is not central to a flight sim he is labelled negative. It's OK to fill the sim with hand waving eye candy as long as the essentials are sorted first. If you want hand waving there are plenty of console games that will provide that for you.

>>>The vast majority of people using FSX don't have pilot>licenses and even fewer own their own plane. >>I understand why you don't care about immersion since you are>fully immersed every time you take out real plane out.>That may be true, but it doesn't change the fact that there is a lot of perceived reality out there and some of it has nothing to do with simulating flight.Well, Now that I have thoroughly "stirred the pot" }( Look, my comments are simply my opinions. Nothing more and nothing less. It doesn't mean I am right at all, and I factor in to the equation as well as anyone does. The FS team will decide what is important to them internally and I am sure that there are many things that factor in to those decisions including long range goals for the product(s) and the potential customer base. At the end of the day, if they put in everything that everyone wants, I will be out of a job.It is impossible for FS to be everything to everybody but what is important (to me again) is that it becomes easier for developers to expound on the platform without having to work around the sim to get what is needed. Then if you want flying penguins, strange people waving at you or any of the like, it can be done by somebody and the need or want is fulfilled. To me... realistic weather, terrain, prediction and modern navigation is exactly what is important to most pilots and do not forget... (drum roll please) PERFORMANCE.FS11 again will not be able to be everything to everyone, but somehow I think it is going to be very good.Jim Rhoads

Thanks for your response. I would hope that everyone can agree that it is sensible not to overload available bandwidth out of the box. I just hadn't appreciated that we were even approaching available PCI bus bandwidth with FSX. On the other hand, I can well understand that we might already be saturating the system RAM/CPU bandwidth - perhaps it's one and the same thing.By the way can I say that I'm a bit surprised by the slightly unpleasant tone that has crept into other parts of this thread. We all have our views about priorities for FS11 but there is a time and place for everything and you must be heartily sick of hearing them trotted out constantly.Tim

A pivotal memory I have of flight sims comes from the MicroProse classic - weren't they all? - Project Stealth Fighter. At one point I was over Western Europe in the middle of World War Three and I thought "where are all the other aircraft?". Of course that was a limitation of available hardware. Now here we are in 2008, and when you look to your right in that 737 where is your first officer? When you look over your shoulder in your Baron where are the passengers you loaded the plane with?If the technology is there with TS I see no problem in dropping it into FS. You might be surprised how it transforms your experience, and no doubt you'll have the option to turn the feature off.

Check out this. http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/archive/2008...characters.aspxI think Phil is saying FS11 is coming out for holiday 2010 (or does he mean 2009?)Also, looks like they are putting animated people into TS2 so I guess FS11 will have them too. Will be great to see ground crew and passengers walking around! Plus he says they are focusing on performance for FS11 too. Good stuff!

This is excellent news about TS2, and I look forward to the possibility of incorporating animated ground personnel, crew and passengers into FS11. And thanks to Phil for the update on his blog.I am a hard-core simmer, and I find that these additions to FS increases realism and immersion. I consider "eye candy" scenery and other objects crucial to my enjoyment of the sim, because they reflect what we see in the real world. If we experience them in the sim as well, the more true to life the sim becomes, and the more enjoyable it is.As to the fellow who spoke of a desire to extrude his gastric contents at every mention of the word "immersion", well sorry. The fact the word "immersion" is mentioned often by simmers is because it is very important to us. And no, we will not silence ourselves just because some one purports to get a peculiar physical reaction from it.
