  1. Yes it SUCKS !!!The clouds look great. If you fly just clearing the tree tops it looks great, with the trees, trucks, bridges etc..., but the rest of it looks terrible. Flying in spotview looks absolutly horrible like the plans are pictures pasted over the scenery.Performance isn't very good either.AMD Athlon 1.4Geforce3SteveCYYZ
  2. I know, this is strange. I would amagine it will be available from MS soon if not already. It auto-installs with CFS3 but I wouldn't suggest buying CFS3 to get it. :-) I'm taking CFS3 back on Monday I don't like it. But I did scoop the DirectX folder off the CD. :-)SteveCYYZ
  3. Well, at least there's one good thing about CFS3. :-)No doubt about it, when it installed the DirectX update it has finaly given me some decent fullscreen AA in FS2002 with my Geforce3.As instructed above I chose "Allow applications to control antialiasing" and then enabled AA in FS2002 display hardware settings.FS2002 has never looked so good. :-) :-)SteveCYYZ
  4. Following a few links to some CFS sites, the forums clearly show that overwhelmingly most dedicated combat simmers feel CFS3 is a step backward and are very disappionted. How could MS mess up so bad ?Getting back to my original post, I hope MS doesn't make the same mistake with FS2004. Although I suspect it is an entirely differant team, I hope. :-)SteveCYYZ
  5. Hey JeroenI get your point. :-)I'm just trying to make the case that here I am an experienced flightsimmer, been tweaking FS since 98 version. Also owned all previous cfs's and although my hardware is a little outdated I have never had problems like this with any of MS's other FS products.I've tried all the usual driver and setting fixes with no luck so far. Also I'm just making the suggestion to others to be cautious as some retailers don't allow returns.SteveCYYZI seriously doubt their customer support could enlighten me in any way. :-)If anyone could help it would more than likely be some of the many fine people who hangout in these forums, like yourself.
  6. Hey EKONot only do I agree with your choices but I commend the effort and thought you put into it.Nice work.SteveCYYZ
  7. Hey, I'm not saying don't give it a try. I'm sure there will be others with different opinions but I would suggest buying it somewhere that has a liberal return policy. I think the clouds and atmosphere are great. Ground textures, trees buildings do look good as you've seen in screenshots but only when your flying really low, and I mean low. This scenery would be great for combat helicopters. :-)My issues with this release are with the ugly spot views and shimmering groud effects that are extremely distracting. Most of all though it's the terrible performance on my system in which FS2k2 works pritty darn good I think. Performance is so poor, it's not playable in my opinion and thats all before it freezes. :-(Now if I had to work days to tweak Fs2002 that would be another thing, I guess, but CFS3 just isn't worth the hassle.WIN XPASUS A7V 133AMD Athlon 1.4Geforse 3768 MB RamSteveCYYZ
  8. Please don't screw up FS2004 like you have CFS3.Installing cfs3 has ruined a perfectly good day. :-(SteveCYYZ
  9. Hi BobI have now tried several drivers and none make any differance. :-(Soon after I get into any combat it freezes requiring reboot.Engine sounds are crackling and the ground texture shimmering is just pathetic.Of coarse others may find it works for them but I would recommend to those that want to give it a try, atlest buy it somewhere you can exchange it.I don't think I need a couple days to evaluate this mess.I give up and am taking mine back tomorrow.SteveCYYZ
  10. Hi TripI guess the rumers are true as my version is now:DirectX 8.2(4.08.02.0134)What bothers me though is I'm having all kinds of problems.Spot views look horrible, planes look like pasties and lots of ground shimmering. The mouse curser is locking up and even with a second install the sim has stutters and is freezing up.I'll re-install vid drivers and hope things get better. :-(Oh well, I've only had it a couple hours so I'll give it a couple more days before I come to any final conclusions. :-)SteveCYYZ
  11. I have to agree with Paul and Bob, two senior members here. We have seen this I'm leaving stuff before and it gets tiring.I appreciate your freeware offerings, they really are great works and I will cherish them for many years to come, but please at least place these ramblings in the appropriate forum.ThanksSteveCYYZ
  12. Hi FredI hear yah :-)I can hardly wait to give it a try, but I'm still having trouble handling FS2k2's atc and flying the plane. :-)Too often when atc gives instructions I'm asking myself, what ??I'm thinking I still need more practice. :-)SteveCYYZ
  13. Thanks PageI really appreciate your updates, they are great !!:-)SteveCYYZ
  14. I'll choose the freeware anyday. :-)SteveCYYZ
  15. As I have stated many times, I don't fly without them. Also I rarely fly aircraft that don't have sophisticated panels like the PSS Airbus and the 421C have. Most my flights last for many hours and I like the realistic perspective that VC's give. :-)SteveCYYZ
  16. I know this question might be a little dumb but what does Anisotropic Filtering do ?SteveCYYZ
  17. Unfortunately as I read more carefully the post in the screenshots forum, this aircraft will not have a VC. To bad as it was the included VC that came with the POSKY CRJ that makes it good dispite the fact there is no decent 2D panel with FMC. Now I have this great 747 panel and no worthy aircraft. Oh well :-(:-(SteveCYYZ
  18. Seeing as I'm using both of these great freeware addons, YES PLEASE !!! :-) :-)SteveCYYZ
  19. Congrats Mike !!!Can you tell me more about your new 9700 ?I'm interested in what you've seen so far. What's the AA, high res, and color like ?I haven't been happy with my Geforse3 and it's AA.SteveCYYZ
  20. I have a feeling this post wil get locked. :-)So I'll quickly give my short wish list over and above what I already think will be in the new FS2004.1) More advanced AI and ATC2) Pushback with truck:-)SteveCYYZ
  21. I have FSMeteo I think it works great, I really do, but now unfortunately I'm told I need to pay again for an update. I can't seem to get past this sick feeling I have knowing that there may be no end to it. I'm not sure for all it does that it's worth the cost in Canadian dollars. I don't know maybe I'm wrong(?), but for now I think I'll do my best to use and continue to support the new ActiveSky "freeware" program. Maybe with our support this program will fullfill all our expectations by the time FS2004's new clouds roll around.SteveCYYZ
  22. Me too !!Mine crashes when I go to "Top Down" view option.Tried deleting the FS2002.cfg trick with no luck. :-(SteveCYYZ
  23. Hi DamianIt's great to see a possible alternitive real weather program. I love the fact it's freeware and I'm sure that now that you have many more users whatever problems there might be will soon be fixed. Thanks for the hard work and making this freeware !!!SteveCYYZ
  24. HowdyI always assumed that when I turned my head left or right etc.. being that the monitor is dead ahead I would be doin the shifty eye thing. :-)SteveCYYZ
  25. Yes, it's definately front page news !!!!!!!!!!!!SteveCYYZ
