  1. For anyone interested in repainting planes: is there anyone interested in painting Chuck Lamb's EMB-120 in Comair's metallic colours? I've seen this plane so many times but can't seem to find a decent FS2002 model of it anywhere. Hopefully someone will take me up on my request :) George
  2. Thanks, guys, for the advice! I will try to tinker with the aircraft.cfg file. What I do remember is that the Air Dolomiti package itself is more than just a skin - the actual package is the plane as well. Seems weird that it's behaving this way - i never got that affect with the other skins i downloaded for the ATR 42. Oh well. lol By the way, Paco, are there any more teaser shots of your upcoming 72-500? I'd love to see em! Take it easy!George
  3. Hey everyone, I hope someone can help me with this...I recently downloaded the ATR 42-500 of Air Dolomiti, and installed it as instructed. I opened FS2002, created a flight, and selected the aircraft. However, although the Air Dolomiti livery showed up initially, when i clicked 'select' to enable the aircraft, the default house colours ATR showed up instead. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what I can do to correct it?George
  4. gosh, that was quick! lol i thought they weren't supposed to be out till Nov. 19th!George
  5. I don't suppose anyone else has heard anything from him? Any offers?George
  6. Hey Gary (Gazzareth),We haven't heard anything from ya in a while, so I'm kinda wondering if everything is ok, and if you've had a chance to work any more on your turbo mallard since you've gotten space on avsim (last time I checked, anyway). Hope to hear from ya soon! Cheers!George
  7. :-lol Fret not, dear Francois...he probably hasn't experienced the thrill of flying this excellent Dash 7 into challenging strips worldwide...Give him a few hours.George
  8. Well, from what I've seen, it looks like someone is trying to pass off freeware as payware. Aren't those ATRs ex-IADG? I don't know if I would want to invest my money into something that I can get for free...what do you think? :)George
  9. I think the guys over at PSD addressed this question (or a similar question) over at their forum. Check it out. :)George
  10. Ron,Check this link for some figures on performance:http://www.aerospaceweb.org/aircraft/commu...r42/index.shtmlThis should answer most, if not all of your questions :) Cheers!George
  11. Well, I've found the ATR 42-500 to be pretty decent with the dynamics (once you get used to the autothrottle for takeoff). My only problem was that it seemed to get to quite a high speed at cruise. Make sure on takeoff you have the power setting at TO and autothrottle turned on. There is actually a checklist included (though I can't seem to start the engines without using CTRL+E) that has been really helpful. As for decent, make sure your autothrottle is off and your power levers are set to flight idle. Speed tends to drop pretty well at that setting. Most of my segments are between destinations less than 200 miles away, however, and so my cruising altitude is between 11,000 and 13,000 and my cruise setting usually settles around 273kts (a little fast, but no complaints here). Hope this info helps!George
  12. Fred,It used to happen to me when I first downloaded POSKY's 767s V3. I believe POSKY stated somewhere that it's best to have your airspeed at touchdown somewhere around 140kts and have a pretty gentle approach... Hot landings will end up dropping gear left, right, and center! LOL. Try landing between 140 - 150kts and see what happens :)George
  13. I was just curious as to how the ATR 72 is progressing. :) Not to nag or anything. I'm just really excited about it. hehe. Any word on it, Paco? Screenshots even? Thanx!George
  14. Russell, thank you so much for your help. I have indeed noticed the grinding noise associated with 'swapping' every time I use FS and wondered if the computer's fan was vibrating or something. I'll try the directions you suggested, although it sounds to me like I just need to upgrade my RAM. :) Thank heaven for Best Buy!!! I'll see what happens.George
  15. I currently use 128MB of RAM (but not all of my settings are maxed). However, I still get choppy frame rates after about an hour or so of flying (depending on what plane I use). I can't use the Cessna 421 at all, and the POSKY crj's get an average of about 8fps :-/. Would upgrading to 384MB or 512MB help this much? I can't afford a new video card, and from what I've heard, the video card I have (GeForce 2 32MB) is quite adequate. I also run a Pentium 4 WinME 1.5GHz processor. Any suggestions?George
  16. Well, my guess would be that (economically speaking) four engines are not better than one (100s of Cessna Caravans as opposed to 50 Dash 7s) lol. However, idealistically, the Dash 7s do make a charming addition to any freight fleet, especially when you paint em - bring on the liveries Bill! :)George
  17. Very nice livery! I remember downloading that particular plane for FS98 when I finally found a decent-looking Dash 7 for FS98 (very hard to come by). Great job!George
  18. LOL yeah, Jason, I'm definitely having a ball and a half with PIA!!! I did a PID - MIA to start with last night (slightly shorter trip for the slowpoke) because it was really late when I got home from work to find it in the library :). I will be doing some more flights today though...count on that! To where in Canada are you moving? And when? I was thinking of coming home to visit this winter, though I'm undecided on that right now...My nephew just got FS2002 and has no clue as to how to use flightzip, so I feel it's my 'duty' to teach him so that he doesnt miss out on all this cool stuff! Did you get my private message, btw? Hope all is well!George
  19. Walt, that looks fabulous!!!! I'll definitely take a look in the library! Do you have any other repaints in mind? George
  20. THANK YOU BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to fly my PID - PBI segment! :D You've definitely made my day! George
  21. ROFL!!!! MY thoughts EXACTLY! George
  22. Hey Walt, I really enjoy your repaints as well - perhaps one of these ones?:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/205372/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/065783/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/253187/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/210171/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/209374/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/205350/L/ (hybrid scheme)http://www.airliners.net/open.file/157555/L/ (hybrid scheme)http://www.airliners.net/open.file/127974/L/They all seem like really cool schemes to paint. :) Maybe you'd like to give them a shot?George
  23. BILL THAT'S STUNNING!!!!! I think I'm about to have a seizure!!! I have been waiting for this since the plane was released!!! I even made the callsign for it! LOL. Thanks sooo much! We're glad to see you back here again! I trust you're coping well with everything? :) I hope all is well, and keep up your excellent work!George
