  1. Quest doesn't offer a data cable for direct connection to the computer's video card (flies can be saved but that's it). It's a bad idea for a PC solution to do Wifi hops for graphics. For some people it works. If your one of those unfortunate people to have Buffer Bloat with your internet connection (fiber optic - AT&T) coming into your home this can be a problem. The more people get onto the internet at peak times in your neighborhood the slower your connection is. Put that on top of having a home with everyone using the internet in the house at the same time you are or you have an older home your Wifi is going to be spotty. You don't notice it much with normal operation but if your trying to stream graphics from your computer, to the router, to the headset this can be a problem.πŸ₯Ί Some people don't have an issue. Maybe their in an apartment where the service provider router is in the same room as their computer. The best option I found was the Reverb G2 for the price and performance which took Wifi out the equation with a direct connection to the video card. Even though 'Mixed Reality' has lost support from Microsoft it's still available and usable for the next two years.πŸ™‚ That's more than enough time for an upgraded solution from Microsoft (which is usually the case, they retire one thing for something better their developing in house. After thinking about it I can't see their competition like Apple/Sony getting into VR and Microsoft exiting the VR game especially with one of their most successful titles heightened by the VR experience. Microsoft is very proud of MSFS and everyone in that company knows VR is the highlight of this title) or another option presents itself. If Quest want to expand their VR presence offer a connection to PC's like the more expensive options available would have them corner the market. The problem is Quest concerning Flight Simulation isn't their target market. Games downloaded to the headset and/or streaming to cloud games is what their after.πŸ˜•
  2. Have you flown into their San Antonio scenery lately? Talk about a performance hog, no thank you..πŸ‘Ž. Now if I was Microsoft I wouldn't have sacked 'Windows Mixed Reality' opening the door the 'HP Reverb G3/4'.🧐 They are now like usual going to have to circle around back to this later on and be behind the ball like they always are at time. The lack of vision with some at this company is staggering. Even Playstation and Apple is getting into VR.πŸ™ Hopefully Meta (Quest 3) get's off of Wifi only and offers a cabled connection in the future. Sorry for getting off topic...
  3. Is it me or is someone expecting too much from a flight simulation.🧐 We already have snow in the sim and a freezing effect on the windows when it's below zero. The only thing I see at this point is when "MeteoBlue' shows a slight snow covering it's no longer depicted in the sim. Only yellow areas have real snow coverage now which needs to be fixed. That being said what's being asked here is a little over the top, but hey to each his own.😏
  4. As I said above I must have used the wrong term. The Bing map clarity on the ground is better in the examples I listed above versus many other areas of the world. My question again is what areas in the world have the same ground clarity as Florida and So Cal?🧐
  5. This and price is why HP/Microsoft will stop supporting VR (Reverb G2 is still an amazing mid-range option as it's use won't go away fully until after Windows 11). So good point here. VR is a game changer but you need a video card with at least 16gigs of RAM. Here's the break down for people wanting to get in the game: Low end/Cheap/Performance may vary - Quest 2/3, anything in the $200 - $600 range (I put Quest 3 here because you get cheap performance is many cases because you're using it over WiFI, you need a solid connection to the PC for a stable experience in most cased) Mid-Range/Decent visuals/good performer/stable/$400 to $600+ - Reverb G2 (currently the only game in town as a mid-range solid performer. Lack of interest in VR got this one killed but it's still supported now and well into the future if you keep Windows 11 installed for longer than you normally would) High End/Pricy/Great visuals $1,500 to $2000+ - Somnium VR1, Primax VR πŸ˜” Has Affordable PC VR just DIED in 2024? 6. O.k., maybe I used the wrong term. Take a low lever flight from Jacksonville to Daytona. See how detailed the streets and neighborhoods are. The same can be said about the whole Gold Coast of Australia. What areas around the world have that level of detail flying from one city to another?😢 Maybe it's a Bing maps thing.πŸ€ͺ
  7. I used the example of Florida as we do have areas in the sim where the detail goes beyond limited cities. So in essence the question is about regions/countries etc. not cities.πŸ™‚
  8. I'm talking about regions where photogrammetry is rendered in the highest quality. Some people are listing cities here but that's not what I'm asking. Florida for example from the Georgia boarder to Key West is rendered in detail not found in many other areas (some remote areas are the exception which is to be expected). Yes focused cities have this and has been discussed before but not whole regions. I'm curious how many other countries and/or large areas have this level of detail. Australia for the most part has this level of detail but not many other regions.🧐
  9. After our London discussion (of how bad it looks), I was wondering what's everyone's take on the best regions in MSFS for photogrammetry? Here's my list so far: 1. The State of Florida 2. The South West US (California, Arizona, Utah, etc) 3. PNW (Pacific Northwest - US) 4. Hawaii Would love to here were the best flying locations are worldwide in the sim.🍺 We more than have enough locations that leave allot to be desired.😌
  10. As of today (all in VR): 1. BS Baron 2. BS A36 3. Cockspur Phenom 100 Honorable Mention: FSReborn M500 Asobo Longitude BS King Air Asobo Cirrus SR22T Wait, I was only supposed to list three..😢😏
  11. Just wondering has anyone tried this headset with FS. It looks like the HP Reverb may have a limited life seeing Microsoft may not continue Windows Mixed Reality at least in the form we know it today. https://www.roadtovr.com/bigscreen-beyond-review-pc-vr-headset/
  12. Yesterday I took everything out of my Community folder and loaded up the sim basically in a virgin state. I did this a few times for good measure. The load time was almost the same as it was with a packed community folder. This is truly a FS specific problem. To your point some add-ons can affect load times but the bulk of this problem is the sim itself.🧐
  13. For awhile now it wouldn't give me the option to choose. I'd have to get home and look. I was locked into US West Coast servers (I believe, stopped checking) for awhile then it connected to east at some point. If your reporting this makes a difference I'll be curious to check, hopefully I'm given the option and not locked into what ever Asobo/MS chooses.😎
  14. I don't have this problem in most of the world including the historically problematic (in sims of the past) NY. Since I don't fly in London and Paris that much it's not a big deal for me. Just the same I see a problem in (old world enhanced) cities that have very condensed streets and buildings. Newer (none 250 year old) cities like Brisbane, Sydney, Toronto, LA, NY, and Miami don't suffer from this on my end so I know it's not a connection problem with my computer. I'm glad the smaller Venice doesn't have this issue for me. I love that city.🍺
  15. All I can say is, wow...😳 Glade most of the world doesn't look this way. The popularity of FS would be a 180 from what it is today. Asobo has to address this with 2024, I've lost hope much improvement will happen for 2020 at this point. If I was a simmer from the London area I guess I'd be on XP12. What's crazy is a big chunk of the FS market is in Europe, you'd think they'd take care of one of their core audiences.
  16. I haven't really flew in London recently but after setting up my new video card with my Reverb G2 I took a flight over to downtown London from one of the suburban airfields (the one right by McClaren's headquarters). What I found downtown was blobs everywhere. I went back and tried it again in 2D only to find much of the same (the VR headset just enhances what's there in 2D). So I'm wondering is it just my setup or after all these updates since London was enhanced by Asobo it's still this bad and if so I'm surprised UK simmers haven't been screaming about this (maybe I just didn't hear about it being a US flier interested in other parts of the world).😢 What other areas are this bad in the sim that shouldn't be (again if it's not just my setup )?
  17. Can you post the link to Cockspur's discord channel? Thx.🍺
  18. I'm seeing long load times lately. Any advice outside of uninstalling add-ons that I can do to clean-up whatever is causing the slowdown?
  19. No mention of the next World Update (Caribbean) and the official release date.😢
  20. Thanks so much for being honest about this...πŸΊπŸ‘ I'm sure some freeware modders will take care of this and the flight model in due time. Edit: I must say the price is a little steep for an add-on using another jet's sound set (among other things). If a payware offering needs third party mods to accomplish what the developer couldn't achieve the price should reflect that.🧐
  21. After using this aircraft it seems the ground handling needs work and the sounds are a mixed bag. Outside sounds like a heavy jet along the lines of a Global Express and the inside seems to be a tad loud for a rear engine aircraft. I'm looking around to see how the real bird sounds but something doesn't feel right about this aircraft. Concerning ground handling, you have to use differential breaking to turn the aircraft. With the sounds and handling this bird doesn't feel like a small jet in the sim.😣
  22. Will you all model the larger version (300 series) in the future?
  23. O.k., how much money did it take to get the default sim to look like this...🧐
