  1. Thanks for that. XP on my ageing laptop is the problem. I will try the work around but will shortly buy a boat and need an anchor. I think the laptop will do the job nicely
  2. Just wondering if this new version has any OS limitations i.e. Win7 or 8 or 8.1? Will it work with Vista or XP?
  3. Followed the instructions to the letter on the FSX computer and the application installed flawlessly. However, when loading to the networked PC continually received messages indicating and error and when continued the application appeared to load. When I selected the second option on the 'options' menu there were a number of bgls for timezone, mesh and vector files that created errors and then when appeared completed clicking the button to start Aicontroller resulted in another error. Has anyone got it to work over a network? I give up!!!!
  4. I am a happy user of V13a on a networked machine and will be staying with it. I have tried to install 14a on a networked machine but cannot am unable to make it work. I'll give it a rest for a while and may have another shot when I don't feel like smashing the screen
  5. Taxi control is not yet implemented. Due in version 1.4 if I understand correctly.
  6. It would to some extent but if you sort on destination the departures would be scattered and vice versa. A configurable filter on both departure and destination columns would enable all the relevant data for the field being used by the user together.
  7. Just raising this issue from an earlier post in case it slipped through the cracks.
  8. I'm a recent convert to AI Controller and the suggestion I'm about to make may have already been made earlier (I have to admit to being a bit time poor at the moment and haven't the resources to search to find out). Anyway, I loaded the AI Monitor earlier and populated it by Starting AI Controller and Collecting the relevant data. The screen filled as my area of interest was Hong Kong and China with numerous airfields in the reality bubble area. What I thought would be useful would be the ability to filter airports from the AI Monitor screen e.g. to identify say Hong Kong as the only field represented and to be able to swap the displayed data using the filter to include others after say take off. This would keep data displayed relevant to the area in which I am operating. If this is already possible and I know it can be through the .INI file in a loose sort of way but not without shutting down and reloading AI Monitor after amending the replacing the .INI file. Just a thought.
  9. You have to say that. If you said anything different you wouldn't last long as a member of the Dev team. I won't buy - don't fly the LR enough to justify another similar aircraft.
  10. When was the last time a 777 pilot leaned into a turn in a 777? Round about the 12th I suspect - of never!!
  11. Whilst the depiction of weather in PMDG NGX and 777 are important to the eye candy brigade I would rather PMDG spent time investigating and resolving the nausea inducing eye point shifting when the aircraft in a turn using in the virtual cockpit. To me that would be immeasurably more of a winner than a coloured weather radar.
  12. Think I may have found the problem. The setting in FSX has changed from Anisotropic to Bilinear. Might have something to do with Nvidia Inspector settings being no longer relevant. Much better now.
  13. I have just installed new GPU in my PC and since then the text in the FMC in the virtual cockpit is virtually unreadable. With my old GTX 580 the text was small but could be read and operated on an angle but not now. To make adjustments or inputs I need the non virtual cockpit version on display which is a real pita. Any suggestions as to what may have caused this? Thanks
  14. Is there a fix that I can make to prevent feeling sick every time the NGX or 777 turn a corner? It is like the panel is sliding from side to side. The movement is quite dramatic and temptation is to send both aircraft to the breakers yard and fly the A320 (admittedly eyepoint drift is a feature? of this aircraft too but not as dramatic). Thanks Andy b
  15. How can you leave it as it is and make changes?
  16. Go right ahead. It will slow down some of the serial image posters, many of which are quite mundane, and make them think more than once whether it is worth the effort.
  17. Hi Ray The OOMs are not a problem for me (touch wood). I have the Uiautomation core file in the FSX folder, minimal touch ups to the CFG file, reasonable but not excessive display settings but most of all Win 7 64. It would appear that most pushing the OOMs envelope have the 32bit version of Win 7 and this really stresses the 3gb VAS. I use a file called process explorer and that shows me that FSX is rarely over the 3gb VAS mark (with 4gb to play with) and very smooth. I din't feel like I am cheating in the compressed time mode as I only have used it twice and both of those times have been at cruise only and on 7hr plus flights. Right now I'm on an EGCC to ESSA flight in real time. waved to you but you weren't home. You will love FSX - I'm sure and one other thing take a look at OPUS for your weather, It has cameras built in and is a real good piece of kit. Made in England as well!!!
  18. Hi Ray - long time between drinks!! I resisted moving initially to FSX and then to VCs but now I wouldn't have it any other way. I have Track IR but at the present it is not in the loop - it is connected just not in the loop. As PC power has progressed the ability to have a smooth experience has increased even though scenery/airports has become more and more detailed. The T7 is a fantastic aircraft. I get good FPS even ploughing through ORBX airports at YBBN and YMML and that is a good thing for me. You will not regret the transition from FS9 to FSX just don't think about the value of your previous investment. Good luck with the move. BTW, Liverpool are going well - long may it continue  Almost forgot to mention - there is a facility in the T7 that automatically compresses time in cruise if you want it particularly on long haul flights. It throttles up time to 4X or more depending on settings but when it approaches a waypoint with a turn it throttles back to single time automatically, executes the turn then throttles back up and can be set to pause at TOD. I did a 7hr plus flight in a little over 2 and 3/4 hours yesterday with this feature - take off and climb to cruise at single time, cruise at 4X and descent, landing and taxi to gate at single time. Brilliant!!!!
  19. Thank you for the video. I never have had problems getting off the ground but getting back I frequently was either 'too high too fast' or too slow and struggling to get to the threshold or simply put my passengers necks through their backsides slamming the aircraft down on the runway. This video showed me where I was going wrong and last evening I was able to get the T7 down at the aim point with hardly a shudder. May not be as professional but definitely within my wallet access and a keeper for me. Will be viewed regularly.
  20. Would this be the Crew Alertness Monitor?
  21. Autosave was also an issue for the Majestic Dash 8 - 400. Regular as clockwork the aircraft paused then continued. When I increased the time between Autosaves in FSUIPC the aircraft responded accordingly by increasing the time between pauses. Disconnected Autosave and the problem disappeared.

    777 crashes FSX ?

Have you checked out the Process Explorer recommended in the docos on the 777 to see what is happening VAS wise? I had a look last night and noticed I was running at about 3.7gb which surprised me. I then made sure that the 'default' flight was the one recommended by MS (Kite at Friday Harbour I think) and then loaded the 777, changed the time, changed the location and hit the 'Fly Now' button and Process Explorer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx showed it stabilised at 2.9gb and that was at ORBX YBBN, 50% AI, 50% GA and other settings as recommended. Initially I had FSX crashes every time I breathed. I stopped breathing during the load but it didn't help. Then suddenly, everything started to go Ok and I got a 3hr YBBN to NZAA flight completed (horrible landing but that is another story). I then followed the advice from PMDG and FSX bombed and continued to do so even after I reloaded the deleted files. Once again I uninstalled and reinstalled the 777 and once more (touch wood) everything is back operational. I once again managed a 3.75 hr flight back from NZAA to YBBN with no issues (better landing this time). Just thought it worth recounting my experiences since I was in the same boat as you.
  23. I may be wrong here but the VC would be almost identical across variants of the T7 so you can pretend it is something it is not. At the end of the day you are pretending you are a pilot so pretend the rest. The business model was/is - release the aircraft with lowest appeal as the base then work on and release the more popular variants which people will buy. Good business sense in my book and I will buy the 777-300ER for what it is worth.
