  1. The ACES have been tweaking it for months now, I've stopped believing I can do better.Go flying instead, it

    Shimmering

I've given up tweaking the fsx.cfg, no matter what I do it doesn't make any difference to me, I'm beginning to think that file finally is fine as is (default SP1). :-jumpy My shimmering is gone by nVidia control panel settings instead. Unfortunately it is in norwegian, so the below settings are what I THINK it's called in english:AF: Defined by applicationAA transparency (the fence thing): MultisamplingAA: 8xSForce MIP rendering: NoneTexture filtering (Anisotopic MIP filteroptimisation (?)): OffTexture filtering (Anisotopic texturesampleoptimisation (??)): OffTexture Quality: QualityTexture filtering negative detail level (LOD): LockTexture Threelined optimasation: OnTripple buffeting: OnExpantion Limit (???): OnVertical Sync: Use 3D applicationInside FSAA: OffFiltering: AnisotropicPhew! this was more difficult than I thought, and I have no clue if I
  3. Vast improvement here too by deleting my over-tweaked fsx.cfg and letting the sim build a brand new one :-)Eagle
  4. Hi,is there anyone out there who knows how to get rid of texture shimmering. The shimmering occurs even with autogen off. The ground textures shimmers just as much as trees and buildings.Info:VistaFSXPhoto-Based Add-on Scenery UpdateSP1 (wow!)nVidia 6800 GT w/latest official driver
  5. I think the lack of a large map that doesn't stop the flight is some of the reason why I haven
  6. >Then spend more time in the forums. >Do we have to memorize all posts or spend hours by searching to avoid comments like this? I don't know about how BOPrey feels, maybe he don't mind, but I can imagine people getting upset by being told that they don't spend enough time in the forums. Maybe you don't mean any harm Allcott, but it might happen that you scare people from using these forums by this attitude of yours.Take care!Eagle
  7. >Apparently a she..>You never know, a dude called "Jennifer" used to frequent these forums earlier too ;-). Another product of the forum anonymity?Eagle
  8. I think Steve was reffering to Allcott, right Steve?Allcott has been here a long time, and has a tendency to be sarcastic or negative sometimes, but he also provides informative and knowledgeble info from time to time, so I've decided to just ignore those grumpy or ironic comments, and look if the guy has something to say.I must say though that I think everyone should feel welcome here, whether they started this hobby yesterday or have had a second life inside FS for years ...Eagle
  9. Don't worry :)I installed it, but decided it was not my bag of tea. All I had to do was to replace fsx.CFG with the backup file generated by the installer, and finally remove some sceneries from within the sim. (I think you can find a backed up scenery.cfg as well.)Also you can keep the program on your disk, just in case you wanna give it a go later.I love the idea itself, but the world became too lifeless for a low and slow guy like me, I like the livelyness autogen creates, so I'll stick with that for now ...Great effort from the developer though, the system itself is impressing!Eagle
  10. Or how about the mechanic who told the owner that his car was beyond repair because "the fanbelt has got tangled into the exhaust system". Not sure about the translation from swedish: "Fl
  11. Hi there!Lago made some really cool titles once, and their forum was a fun place to be. Then something happened, and the company just faded out (and Aerosoft became more interresting all of a sudden ;-)) During the fadeout I seem to remember some odd behaviour, strange business behaviour and ditto support.CS also have given us some wonderful titles over the years! Now they're trying to sell 727 for FSX. But hey! Where is the rest if 757? And why is there no info whatsoever about what is INSIDE the 727? I know they make wonderful exteriors. I am more curious about the systems, 2D and VC ...Oh well, just have to blow out some steem, have a strange feeling this thread won't last long x(.Eagle
  12. It can cut your tweaking time some, so it may be good for even experienced users. However I ended up tweaking the tweaker (settings inside TweakFPS), so I don't know ... But generally speaking I salute everything that can keep me away from tweaking, and finally (partly thanks to TweakFPS) my sim is flyable now :-).Eagle
  13. Do you guys run at unlimited framerate? I had this problem, but it got fixed when I locked the framerate at 20fps. (nVidia 7800GT, newest driver from nVidia.)Eagle
  14. >Well since we're off topic already, I used to have a>jazzmaster years ago, ever play one of those? And I had a pre>cbs twin reverb too, wish i still did :(No, but I have played a Jaguar, another cool Fender that sort of phased out for some reason. Maybe they got overshadowed by Strat and Tele, but they are gaining popularity again nowadays.I guess, by selling both the Jazzmaster and the Twin Reverb you've learned the lesson; you just don't sell old music equipment when you buy new ones, right?Eagle
  15. >>But now I've got a problem, I fulfilled a 30-year old dream 3>weeks ago and bought a gorgeous Les Paul Standard, done>nothing but play guitar since then. No flying, no gaming,>nothing! Now I'm gonna have to find time to service>two mistresses ;)>>Thanks for this fantastic plane Rob!Congrats with your new Les Paul, it's next on my list after a new Dobro. But listen to this little sunshine story:First I bought a Crate VTX200S for my lovely customized 1985 ESP Strat, very nice combo indeed! Then I was at a nachspiel with my neighbour, a retired fireman. All of a sudden he showes up with a weary old Tele and asked me if I wanted to try playing it. Sure, I said, and MY OH MY what a guitar! You can't just play it cause every little microscopic move you make with your fingers are reflected through the speakers, but played with feeling, with both single coils active she really shines! Suits my playing style too, as I play w/o pick and and don't wanna lose the variation in sound that technique produces. Of course you can get the old bridge mic only Tele Twang as well. (Needless to say the Crate Amp loves this guitar too.)Then he just said: "Mom gave it to me for my bithday back in 1965". And even better, he wanted me to keep it!!! Not that he gave it to me, he is still the owner, but I can I use it as much as I want to, how about that? (Yes, I know Fender sold his factory to CBS in 64, but the production didn't become affected until the early 70's.)This, pluss another neighbour (female singer) who wants to make her next album with me ... (and a new Intel Mac with Live 6 and Reason). Her last album was called "Time to Fly". Well, that's something I don't have right now ...Have fun (and sorry for being off topic, just wantet to tell someone ;-))Eagle
  16. You try it!Just use the demo for 30 days and see for yourself. I use it, because it's so versatile for switching from one "flying style" to another. I did some configuring to get it matching my preferences and hardware, but with a little knowledge that is easy too :-)Eagle
  17. You'll find a Mig-15 over at Fligt1. Old cute one. Haven't tried it, I'm waiting for Cloud9 to update the Phantom, MB-399 and hopefully the Zipper ...Eagle
  18. >Thanks Eagle. I had kinda figured that out already. What>puzzels me is how to post the link without the pic taking up>all that space on the page, and taking forever to download the>thread. Your first post in this thread shows how I would like>to post images: no picture, just the link, and it looks very>tidy.>>This is all very off topic, I hope you guys will forgive my>digression. I have posted this question in the Help Forum, so>maybe this is not the place to discuss the matter.>>Mike.Well, that
  19. Your'e almost there, just check this one:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/162659.jpgEagle
  20. >I don't mean to contradict you, Richard, but if these pics>are cartoony then "Yabba dabba doo!">>Mike.>>Mike, you forgot to check the "JPEG image file" box ;-)I've uploaded them for you, and I see what you man, the stock cockpits, vc lightning and sky textures are far better than fs9.But I think the autogen buildings and trees pluss the daytime textures have very strange colors (too much beige and light green), and that makes the sim look cartoonish. Go over to the Screenshot forum and take a look at the colors in Feng's fs9 shots, looks much more like the world imo.I really hope GE will be available for fsx, these guys make very realistic textures, and the wx dependent engine is brilliant!Eagle
  21. That's excactly what happened to me (se the above post).Eagle
  22. About a year ago I had a discussion with some guy over at FSD, can't remember his name, but he was very polite and willing to solve my (or their actually) problem; all the installers freezes at the activation routine. Since nothing (however hard they tried), worked I gave up, simply because I didn't want to spend any more time with it.What I never could figure out was why on earth they didn't swap to a decent installer (Flight1 wrapper for instace is outstanding in every way). The answer I got was something like the number of unsatisfied customers was so small. They could not change installer because of me and a couple of other guys. Are we really that few? It's a pity because I have most of their titles, but cannot use a single one of tham as it is, not since I bought a new computer about a year ago. And I would like to give the Porter a go when it's FSX ready ...Eagle
  23. Hmmm, odd!In order to get rid of the bad fuelpump loop sound all together I renamed the (fsx)SimObjectsAirplanesGrumman_Goose_G21ASoundfuel_pump.wav to fuel_pump.bak.No sound, no ugly loop I figuered. But instead I got a very nice sounding fuel-pump :-).Eagle
