  1. I'm using a 7800GT card with the latest official NVidia drivers. Water set to 2.x Low.
  2. Hi,Anyone who knows how to fix this problem? It occurs only in dusk or dawn, the textures I use is stock but 50% redused ...Eagle
  3. Well if money counts my advice is to buy one Gig at a time, I got the boost described above when going from one to two Gigs :-)Eagle
  4. Moderators, would it be possible to pin this topic, it
  5. 2 Gig RAM definitely did the trick for me :-) Added the extra GIG yesterday, and get a steady (locked) 20 fps for bush flying, and around 15 fps in denser areas, Scenery/Autogen at Dense. But I had to set the level og detail radius to Small, and use 50% textures except runways and taxiways. Also, the interface has normal response. With 1 Gig I got a delay every time I did something in the menus etc. I think some swap-file was in action then.Eagle
  6. Hi all,I've been in a fs vacuum lately, my fs9 was good looking, but in bad need of a fresh install, and I waited to buy FSX until I saw how things turned out here at the forum. Istead of getting through all the effort getting fs9 in shape (again) I gave FSX a go. Now I've had my first serious session with it, and this is what I experienced:1. About two hours of tweaking including reduction of textures (except runways and taxiways) to 50%. But I kept the original autogen engine and default.xml intact, and didn't mess with the number of trees and buildings in each section.2. Full defrag :-doh3. One hour of flying, but not very satisfied, the sim sort of ate my computer, slowed it down to a 386, also after quiting fs.4. Ran to the local dealer and bought 1G of RAM.5. Ended up with a smooth and nice sim with some cewl new stuff :-)The last thing I did was parking the Airbus (A-Train) at the gate and opened the cargo doors, and Voila! luggage trucks (or whatever they are called) started working (picture).Nice trees, dense autogen, improved mesh/landclass/terrain, cars/boats, new aircrafts, wet asphalt, stunning water and more. This a nice start indeed!!!EagleAMD 3500+/GeForce 7800GT/2G RAM/19 inch TFT at 1280X1024
  7. With FSUIPC you could also use the "Slope" function to make the travel more progressive. I'm using a joystick, and this works fine with all the aircrafts.I don't know if it's realistic, but it sure feels better when an Airbus doesn't fly like a kite :-).Eagle
  8. PIC Legacy (by Feelthere), published by Wilco. Check it out :-).Eagle
  9. Saludos Amigos. Barrrammmm!!!(Where the h*ck did I get that from?)Sorry, too much :-beerchug, but thanks Avsim! Thanks a lot!!!Eagle
  10. FSX is gonna be fine eventually, no doubt about it! I for one say hello to progress and salute MS for a fine job with the new sim. However I
  11. Not exactly new anymore, but very smooth and also nicer looking gauges as they are 3d-modelled. RealAir was the first ones out here me thinks, long time ago with the SIAI Marchetti. The fantastic SibWings Saab Safir is also made this way :-)Eagle
  12. >unfortunately the short answer to that is no...with most>aircraft the gauge update rates are hard coded into the gauge>itself and cannot be adjusted in any way...a real bummer, i>know.>>That being said, however, there ARE a few planes out there>that WILL let you adjust that gauge refresh rate...i dont know>them all but one i can recall is probably the PMDG 737...there>are others but im not sure which ones (its not many though,>they are the rare exceptions)>>DaveYup, this is up to the developers to get right. More and more developers do take this seriously though, here are somevery nice examples:In its own league due to a certain gauge technology (not a regular panel with gauges on it, more like modelled into the vc directly):- Everything by Realair- SibWings: Saab Safir Also very good due to Reality XP gauges:Dreamfleet: Bonanza and BaronSome others:- Digital Aviation: Cheyenne and probably the Dornier 27 (I haven
  13. >>This was a bad decision, and Tom should see that and not let>his ego stand in the way of setting things right. FYI: This kind of attitude is the recipe for NOT getting goodwill from someone ;-).Eagle
  14. At first I totally buyed the moderators view about all the disadvantages and future tidying up with two separated forums. In a way I still do. The problem is I dont't feel comfortable in here right now. It's no longer a question of scrolling past some FSX threads, now it's more like finding a needle in a haystack.Even before the FSX-flood, finding the (for me) interresting threads could be like finding a needle in a haystack. This haystack is now ten times the size of the original stack.Point is, I hesitate to visit the former best place to be in the FS world (apart from flying of course), so from my POV there's something unhealthy about this forum right now.I don't like to say this cause I now it's not intended from the Avsim staff's side!Just the way it it. That's it and that's that ...Eagle
  15. I would consider the actual flying-feeling aspect as well. For that reason I would never use FSNavigator for anything but a map. Showing the aircraft there takes away the challenge and exitement of navigating IMHO. Right now I can't think of any more realistic plane than the SibWings Saab 91, but the tools for navigating are close to nothing there (and we have to wait for a patch before the VOR works properly). So, I would recommend the Carenado 206 too, gives you a good flying feeling, and can be equipped with RealityXP GPS ...Eagle
  16. Alcott,I'm surprised how you always have time to complain about other peoples threads, why do you even read them?Eagle
  17. Hi Tom,I was one speaking up for separated forums in another thread. Didn't think about these aspect then, only the default my own selfish POV :-erks.You guys are doing a great job on the forums, and this will level out sooner or later anyway, so I'm fine with a couple of scrolling months now :-).Eagle
  18. Oh ... I liked it better when they were seperated. Not that I'm not interrested in FSX, but it isn't out yet and this whole forum is flooded with FSX-threads ...Eagle
  19. Thanks :-)The only way FSX can be better is if we get a GE Pro for that one too ;-)
  20. I did, here they are:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...41107&mode=fullEagle

  22. >This DNS cache refresh problem is no longer a problem with>Internet Explorer 7, FYI. RC1 is available for d/l from MS.>>>AllcottOff topic, but how can this be. The cache problem lies within each and everyones isp (as in the old term telephone company). Some of them are more sloppy than others when it comes to updating their DNS-servers with fresh info about what ip the different domains should be pointing at. Changes in DNS info can take from a couple of hours up to two days in worst case to get updated.I don't understand how a browser, which is a client, can cope with this. Would be nice if it did though. Also some have problems with cache in corporate environments, proxy-servers and stuff, but I don't know much about that ...Eagle
  23. You know ... there's a screenshot forum not far from here ;-) ...Eagle
  24. >Caveat emptorI knew this expression would show up sooner or later from the moment I saw the subject. It always does.CS have given me loads of fun, Zipper, 727, Mig 21 and Yak-3 in addition to the best Herk available. One just have to ajust to the fact that these guys needs time. I believe the 757 can end up a nice add-on, lots of people likes it as it is ...Eagle
