  1. Perfect!! Thanks charliearon, that indeed was the answer. Somehow the FXAA Indicator was turned on. Turning it off solved the issue. Thanks for your help - Roger
  2. Hi Folks: As a recent convert to Steam ( which I do really like by the way), one thing I have noticed is a little green square box, about the size of an icon, in the top left hand corner of the screen . It is also on any other window I open, or the kneeboard etc. What is this little green box, and is there a way to get rid of it? - Roger
  3. Hello SC1: Bert is Bert Pieke. Probably the best idea to get these mods is to PM him. - Roger
  4. Hello Folks: Looks like mission accomplished. Thanks to Jim Young for the idea and Jim F for supplying the replacement file. I've been able to complete my first flight in several weeks in the northern hemisphere with no stutters of any kind!!! Thanks again folks, you're fantastic! - Roger
  5. Hi Jim: Thanks so much for this. I was one of the luckier ones, I didn't have any issues for many years running FSX. A few weeks ago, I had a power failure while I was using FSX during one of our nastier storms, and when I restarted the computer after power was restored, scan disc reported several issues - some of which I noted were FSX issues. Shortly after that, I noticed I've had severe stutters - in certain geographical areas. I deleted scenery entries -no luck, changed config files, went back to older video card drivers and tried everything I could think of to narrow the cause of the issue. No luck. Researching in the Avsim forums, I found an older post from Jim Young which recommended using "procmon" to narrow the scope of the problem (Thanks so much Jim !!!). I used "procmon" to see what errors were occurring when the severe stutters occurred. This file was one of the error entries which was logged at that time frame, When I went to look it up in my FSX files, the file was there, but I could not get "DXTBmp" to open it (DXTBmp froze trying to open the file, but it would open the surrounding files with no problems). So I'm hoping this is a step towards the cure. - Roger
  6. Thanks Joe, I'll give that a try. - Roger
  7. Oh Wow. If that is the case, does anyone have a copy of this they would like to donate? It is Scenery\World\texture\007B2HW3
  8. Hi Folks: As a result of a recent power failure, several files on my hard drive were damaged. One of these was an FSX texture file. It is Scenery\World\texture\007B2HW3. I have both installation discs of FSX Deluxe. Does anyone know where on these discs this might be located? It would be nice if I could extract it and replace it without having to repair or re-install FSX. - Roger
  9. Hi Gang: I have the same issues. The only thing that worked for me was to not use the FMC. It's disappointing as I like to use it, but if I keep the FMC off, and only use the default GPS it cures all the porpoising and autopilot issues every time. It's a real shame, cause this plane really does fly nice otherwise. Now if they could only cure the pressurization problem as well, this would be a first rate aircraft. - Roger
  10. Hello Vernon: If you have(or want to get) ADE (Airport Design Editor - freeware from Scruffyduck) it is very easy to change the frequency. If you don't want to get into that, Ray Smith's EDDF (available here in the Library) has 25L at a frequency of 111.15. I don't know about DME, as I haven't flown there lately. - Roger
  11. The last service pack addressed the Acceleration/Gold issues. The Metroliner works flawlessly on my FSX SP2 installation. - Roger
  12. Hello Bradley Download the livery you want from the QW site, remembering where you saved it on your computer. Start the QW757 Repaint Manager. Click on "Install Repaint" Point the pop up window to the spot you saved your downloaded livery. Click on the livery .qwl file Click on "Open" Job done, easy as that. - Roger
  13. Hello Al: Go to the King Air/sound folder. In there find the sound.cfg file. In there are three sections marked center left and right touchdown. Copy all six lines and paste them in the B1900 sound.cfg file. Simple as that. - Roger
  14. I too had the Beta version, and all of these issues were present before release, but none of the issues were ever addressed. I still like it. It does fly very nicely, especially, as Jon mentioned without the AP. I love looking out over that long nose. Overpriced? maybe, but look at the price of PMDG 777 (and I know this is not in the same quality). This is nowhere near that price, and as mentioned a few posts previously, even they are having issues with that. It seems that like everything today, the price goes up and up. When (if?) these bugs are corrected, this will be one of the better short haulers available. - Roger
  15. Well, this baby is fairly fast - a lot more than the recently released 1900D. I have the GPS power problem, but the HSI displays a map view and it flies an FSX route just fine - in fact its a real blast to fly. The autopilot is not built in to the virtual cockpit, but is included as a last minute inclusion pop-up, as most of the real versions did not have an autopilot. I have no problem with it powering up. The load manager also works fine for me. Yes, I'm a bit perplexed over the lack of notification on the status of the SP, but for the most part, this is a fairly well done plane with no more problems than most first issues (in fact fewer than some well known names). If you're looking for a nice twin turbo, this is well worth getting- even as is. I'm hoping it will be even nicer with the SP. - Roger
  16. Hi Daniel: No, in the "Configure" pop up, I do not have a check on "Enable Live Weather Engine" In ASN, do you have " Use REALISM mode options" selected? It is in the tool bar in the "Settings" section, and is hard to tell if it is selected or not. If unsure, click it anyway. - Roger
  17. Hello Daniel: Opus does work with ASN, quite well actually. I use it this way all the time. The only instance that it doesn't work is with the Majestic Dash 8. Ensure you have DHM checked on the main camera page. Click the DHM button and ensure the check boxes in the DHM pop up are selected properly. I use "Assign Defaults" . I have Opus set up to start with FSX, and I start ASN prior to starting FSX. Lots of turbulence with that set-up, and I love it!!! - Roger
  18. This is a very good three crew airliner. Most systems seem to work as you would expect, and it flies quite nicely, no quirks or faults that I can notice. The FMS is for sure more of a QW sort. It is no where near as in depth as one from PMDG. It does work well though. - Roger
  19. Hello Ray: The A300 does not contain the FMC, it comes with a "Civa" style INS. The FMS upgrade must be purchased separately. In the Aerosoft A300 forum, the developer has stated that If there is enough demand, they may consider a single package in the future. - Roger
  20. Hi Pete: My Navdata files were not updated, so by the look of it, it does not come with Navdata. It must rely on what is currently in the Simcheck file. - Roger
  21. Hi All: Just finished dowloading Simcheck A300 FMC upgrade from Aerosoft. For all of you that have been waiting, go get her. - Roger
  22. Hello Yvan: Since I live in the area, and have the scenery, I can confirm that Halifax City scenery is very exact, even down to the color of the buildings. It certainly makes Halifax "as real as it gets". Having said that, if you fly airliners, Halifax International Airport is far enough away from the city that you will not really see any of the city landing there, so it might be a waste of money. If you fly slow and low or want to get a good idea of what Halifax really looks like, it is WELL worth the money. - Roger
  23. Hi Folks: I noticed the sticking altitude selector as well. I traced it down to the FMS being in "NAV" mode (top button, right hand side of FMS). You need to change the altitude in the FMS. That in turn sets the altitude selector on the panel. - Roger
  24. These aren't mega packs, but do a search here at Avsim using the city name or ICAO, and Ray Smith. Ray's freeware AFCADS are amazing and he has almost all major cities worldwide covered.
  25. Hi Folks: Well as everyone has noticed, an e-mail has been sent out to all and a fix created - which is the important thing. I would like to express my appreciation to all those who gave advice in this matter and especially to Adrian Lehmann at the Flightsim Store and Steve Parsons for getting a caution and a fix out so that others were not affected. They have also settled things with me, and if this is an example of the way they do business, I would surely recommend them to all! Oh well, off I go to rebuild FSX. - Roger
