Capt. Sim also has good load editor with 707. You can fill each seat in each configuration individually. Joe
  3. Hello, try lowering your cost index. If its high, you will have a higher cruise alt. If you have a heavy fuel load the FMC shouldn't be predicting an initial crz. alt of FL410. I don't remember the FMC even stepping me to FL410. The highest I usually get is between FL380 and 390. Hope it helps. Don't forget to sign your name. Joe
  4. Jon, Thanks again. I can see why the AT is kept on as long as possible. Lining this big bird up and slowing down for approach is tough on the sim- I can well imagine the workload trying to control throttles, lateral and vertical profile etc. in the real a/c. :-beerchug to you! Joe
  5. Sylvain, that looks fantastic. I like that so much more than the current blue/white Boeing livery. A beautiful a/c like the 744 should be polished aluminum. I'll be adding it to my hangar! thanks! Joe
  6. Jon, How easy or difficult is it to handfly the 744? Does the extreme weight of this a/c make it more stable then say a 752? I have Capt. Ray's 744 manual and he claims its a sweet plane to fly. Thanks to you and Steve for your RW expertise. Joe
  7. The ILS is auto-tuned by the FMC. If you want to manually tune freqs, you must do it on the NAV RAD page. Joe
  8. I meant flew ON. I didn't actually fly it myself,unfortunately. Joe
  9. I flew an AA DC-10 about 12 yrs ago from DFW to HNL. It was a nice flying airplane. Nice wide cabin and very smooth. I feel kind of lucky I got to fly on one! Joe
  10. Nice vid Javier. Good luck! Getting a new PC might be a blessing, since you'll get a nice dual core PC! Better to run FSX. Take care. Joe
  11. That is a great book. Next best thing to an AOM. I've sent email to Capt. Ray to thank him for the great work and he's a really nice guy. His other books are first class also. Joe
  12. Watching the RW 13L/R approaches when on the Belt Pkwy in Bklyn is great. Low flying 744s right over your car. The lead in strobe lights are right next to the road and run right through the neighborhood. Joe
  13. I don't engage FLCH before takeoff either. Usually LNAV only and the AT when on the rwy. After hand flying for a while, then VNAV, CMD. I agree Jon it is a nice a/c to fly. Joe
  14. Thanks again Q. VNAV should have its own book! Joe
  15. Q, if the arrival runway is selected in the air and in the RW I'm sure this happens often, will VNAV have to be rearmed or will it just recalculate the descent? I'm only asking because I don't fly online so my arrival rwy is usually set before departure. Btw thx again for the info, always willing to learn more about this beautiful a/c. Joe
  16. Thats a beautiful sight! If there was any question about the detail that went into the 744 look at shot #2. The downward flex of the wing due to the fuel load. Little things like that make it good before you even fly it! Joe
  17. Hi Jason, I'm assuming when you say the route is activated you also pressed execute? Also have you set departure and arrival rwys? On the ground VNAV will arm but you need the arrival rwy programmed so it can build a profile. Just trying easy stuff first. Joe
  18. I noticed since I installed 777 patch it seems I'm busting altitudes by 1000'. MCP altitude is set VNAV engaged but a/c starts to level off after busting altitude. Going to try hand flying to cruise altitude but AP shouldn't allow this to happen. Joe
  19. Fly Tampa has some unbelievable scenery. I flew to SFO and parked the a/c on the ramp and just watched the AI traffic lining up for landings. It was dusk going into night and the lighting is amazing. I use FS Scene package for terrain mesh and night environment. Joe
  20. Hello if you have a registered version of FSUIPC you can program a steering tiller. On real a/c this is used to steer the nosewheel when taxing. Since it is independent of the flight controls, it does not steer the plane. If you search the forum I know there is a thread regarding how to program it. Joe
  21. In TRC4 Robert advised using the FPV when hand flying and I've tried it and its great. Very helpful on the ILS, turn off the FD and put the FPV at 3 degrees. As far as the LOC I have a sidewinder too and using the rudder function helps to track the LOC. Even with all this I still need practice! Joe
  22. Jamie, when reading the thread by Cowpatz- (sorry don't know Steve's last name), he mentioned he had RTE1 programmed with the expected arrival rwy.25L and RTE2 programmed for the approach to 24R. He explained this covered both likely possibilities and all you have to do is activate and execute RTE2 if necessary. This was for LAX of course but I found it very helpful. Joe
  23. Hi Chris, I would assume you have done this but I found after upgrading to a 500w power supply there are no issues with lockups. Of course I do get the occasional NVIDIA flickering screen and I have a GeForce 7800GS 256mb. I've read thats a problem with NVIDIA drivers. Joe
