I really like the humming sounds of the Trent when a 777 taxis past.
  2. It's probably also offset as it appears to be a VOR or NDB approach without DME. This means you can't have the approach over terrain as you can't have a "not below 2000ft until 5nm" sort of restriction. The solution is to put it out over the water.
  3. If you fly the PMDG planes (aside from the 737NGX) with auto rudder turned off then you don't experience turns that are in balance. You observe the balance bar move out to the side as you roll in. I don't think having it off is more realistic.
  4. I think you need to set the cruise altitude and make sure the engine bleeds are turned on. I've had that happen a few times after takeoff too.
  5. Yes, the FCOM states what conditions command different minimum idle speeds for the engines, however it seems that the question is more about the ability to activate reverse thrust. From the flights I've done it seems that even with the throttle retarded on landing, the idle remains at the approach idle speed after touch down. This means I have to advance/close the throttle again, or press F1 to achieve ground idle. Only then can I select reverse thrust. Is it not correct that the idle speed reduces from approach idle to ground idle automatically upon main gear contact? Thanks
  6. To clarify what I was talking about:I understand that it takes a bit of time for the reversers to move into position, but this isn't what I'm observing in the cockpit. When in the flare I bring the throttle back to idle (throttle lever on the quadrant) then press F2 a few times to enter reverse thrust. I have found that this isn't sufficient, and that I must first press F1 to bring the engines from approach idle down to ground idle - then press/hold F2 to achieve reverse thrust. Am I not correct in assuming that if the throttles are at the idle position, the N1 speed should go from approach idle to ground idle automatically when there is weight on wheels? Thanks. (if I press F1 then hold down F2 reverse works fine, and during taxi the throttle gives me idle thrust when I close it - the same value N1 as if I press F1 instead).
  7. I have seen a similar thing - F2 not doing much for a few seconds. While in the flare the throttle is at idle, however after touchdown I have to press F1 followed by F2 to get the engines into reverse. It seems to take a couple of seconds to go from the approach idle to the ground idle. I seem to not be able to get it into reverse until it has spooled down.
  8. The reversers are hydraulic too aren't they? They were still open.
  9. I had a very similar problem landing KSFO 10L yesterday flying the 747-400. I was practicing an autoland, from 50' (on glideslope and on speed) the plane suddenly contacted the ground. I was unable to reproduce it when I flew another circuit.Daniel Talbot
  10. Ok so I need to save a flight before exiting FSX next time, then just load that after I loaded the default plane?Daniel Talbot
