  1. @Mountain Man: fly_like_an_eagle just posted this video here waiting for your reply ;-)And indeed, it has really some great aspects. It's of course not about navigation, but graphics and user interface are excellent!According to some reviews, flight model seems to have still the RC heritage.And please, all stop this endless worthless debate about fsx versus x-plane. I love both of them...
  2. this thread turned into a very constructive, interesting reading about the flight models!!x-plane seems to be able to handle it. i'd appeciate if somebody close to laminar could consult them, so that they tweak the default planes and default settings into one of the next updates.thanks for the new tone here...
  3. Yes, open free speech here. You can have any opinion, critizise and flame here about every simulator as you wish.Dear Wisenheimer, please pick up a protest sign, go to the capital of your country you live in and protest there. There are still some open issues left in the world.
  4. I was ###### when fsx haters flamed this forum for many years while i was trying to enjoy the sim. The same happens again. It's a pitty that some try to prove or convince others what is right or wrong, better or worse. don't say you wanted this to be a success, you guys have no respect. Not for me who wants to enjoy the sim nor for the developers. I am sure you will successfully drive them out of this forum - as you already managed with the MS devs long ago...
  5. wow, what kind of discussion is this here? it's time that you guys get the flight beta... bye
  6. hi,i uploaded a comparison to Flight SEP. 2011 samples.For SEP. 2011 1/9 -> XP10 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/35/hawaii1092.jpg/For SEP. 2011 7/9 -> XP10 http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/714/hawaii7092.jpg/ Regards,Heiko
  7. i know, there is a lot of passion for microsoft flight simulators around here. I also enjoy FS for many years and I follow you guys here mostly as silent reader.But the way flight is being communiced to its fanbase is really 'special'. Where is all the social media of todays software companies that use heavily twitter, blogs, forums? And for flight, again a PR announcement???Even at microsoft, users are informed about other products in a very open way, not to mentioned other game producers!Just compare with windows 8 http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/ or some Silverlight blogs: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mharsh/, http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tims/Maybe they should use their own social network: https://www.so.cl/Regards,Heiko
  8. Hi,I'm one of the other 500 people and i appreciate all x-plane creatives being here sharing their insight with passion and patience...Regards,Heiko
  9. About User Interface:It is about balancing between technical functionality and visual elements. For some, this purely functional approach with tons of settings might be OK. However, I prefer simplification, usability and guidance. Just as an example, have a look at this new simulator and how wind settings are managed: http://www.aeroflyfs...flugphysik.htmlAnd regarding planes:I also have a different view here. As a new customer: Should I invest 10 hours and try out all 30 models to find out which of them are crap and in the product due to historical and sentimental reasons? I would prefer to hear from Laminar that "Every plane in our product is excellent in visuals and flight model".Sorry, but I doubt this will be expected when you buy a x-plane 10 Aerosoft Metal Box in a store...Regards,Heiko
  10. Hi,already pre-ordered x-plane at aerosoft. graphics are nice and have really very much potential. However, when it competes with FSX it has to provide quality in all areas.There are truely great aspects in this simulator but for many new customers, overall impression might get destroyed by some areas, mainly UI (which is one of the worst i have ever seen in an software product) and, yes, by some of the planes... I was also shocked when i launched some of the planes in the beta, i thought some might even be corrupt. If there are planes that do not meet quality standards for visuals or flight model of 2012, they need to be removed from the package. Isn't there a vision for offering excellent in ALL areas at Laminar? If Austin thinks "It's my simulator, therefore i can keep all those debugging UIs and legacy stuff in the product", it will NOT thrill the masses.And, please respect others opinion. Regards,Heiko
  11. Great news. I loved FsP2004, good to have it finally in FSX. I just checked the demo, looks really great. I especially love the spectacular failures like belly landing :(Regards,Urthgental
  12. really sad discussion here...There are only a few companies that produce high quality addons for our hobby. And when such a masterpiece arrives after years of development you all have nothing else to do than to complain for personal reasons.I bought it and I must say it is great! The VC is awesome, smooth and fluid. It's the first time i can fly a jet completely in VC and with TrackIR.Congratulations PMDG!Regards,Heiko
  13. Hi,this is really incredible, for me this is a deceit...But what makes me really obset is that you can order this software at simmarket. This example alone should be enough to take it from their offerings!Regards,Heiko
  14. Hi,unfortunately i suffer from the blurries as well. I really would not name this a 'mystery'. It is really an 'unsolved issue'.It is pretty easy to qualify that the texture loading does not work correctly:Just slew to a remote spot in the distance. For me it takes up to 10 minutes until I get a more or less sharp resolution in front, sometimes it never get's really crispy.@Phil: How long should it take to build the textures from the lowest level of detail? I think everybody can check this easily.In general I hope that Aces will permanently fixes bugs, looks for improvements and delivers patches. Especially as a platform provider with 3rd party developers building on top!Bugs are not a problem, every software has them. It is just the fear of some simmers (including me) that there are not fixes planned until the new expansion set.Regards,Heiko
  15. Hi Don,thanks for your reply. The problem also occured before I installed/used TrackIR. It's a general problem as it occurs in FS9 and FSX. I just wonder it might be related to my geforce 6600?Did anybody ever experienced this problem?Regards,Heiko
  16. Hi, I have a huge problem using Virtual Cockpits, hopefully someone can help...I can not pan to the left or right, there a flickers and the view centers back immediately. This happens in FS9 and FSX, in all planes and regardless whether I use my FF2 Hat Switch or my newly bought TrackIR 4. When the plane is not moving or I paused FS, looking around in VC works perfect, but as sone as anythings moves the problems occurs again.BTW, I have a Geforce 6600 card with newest drivers (93.71)Hope anyone has some suggestions...Regards,Heiko
  17. Hi,i just started to create a little mission about a sightseeing flight in a friends old Cessna that starts comfortly but slowly turns into a nightmare.Maybe someone can help me out with some basic questions:How can I define the duration of a dialog message to stay on screen?For my beta testers ;-) the text disappears to quickly...Can I trigger an action when the engine was started? I could not find any condition for that.How can I adjust aircraft properties? E.g. I want to set fuel to 20% right after take-off, but not as an Failure Action (that happens later ;-) Is this only possible via simconnect?Regrads,Heiko
  18. Hi,the mission system seems to add great value to the fs experience (as far as i understood the overall feedback correctly) and we have already seen a lot of great ideas. But is there also a way to group missions to a package, means to have a real storyboard?And if not, what would be needed?* A Storyline between missions can be included with animations, clips, rewards etc.* The result of a mission decides which mission to be flown next and influences its start parameters (airplane, flightplan, task...)* A Career mode?This would enable some skilled designers to build a really new sort of add-ons... (remember the good old Strike Commander?)Even if it sounds like a 'full-blown game in a game' approach I think this would attract a lot of simmers and manifest FS as the platform for all kind of aviation-related products...Regards,Heiko
  19. Hi,thanks Tim for your post. This will really help me to evaluate payware add-on.As a newbie in the fs area, it's really hard to judge about the quality of add-ons and to recognize which sites offer independ reviews.avsim & flightsim publish reviews of great depth and quality.Regardless of the actual product, these letters give me confidence, that I can trust the reviewers here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=1385&page=2I had some concerns about simflight reviews. There is to often a *must have* statement. Driven by your post I checked the the relation between simflight & simmarket which clarified a lot.http://media.simflight.com/sites.htmIf you can recommend any other trustworthy sites, please let me know.Regards,Heiko
