Hi I have Windows 7 on my C:/drive and my D drive is an SSD which has all my flight sim software. This is FSX, REX; ORBX Global; ORBX England, Scotland, Wales, & Ireland plus 10 airports. Add on aircraft are PMDG 737NGX + 600/700 expansion pack, A2A Cessna 172 & Carenado B58. Due to a system crash I have had to re-format the C:/ drive and re-install Windows 7. I know I have to re-install FSX, will I have to re-install ORBX and REX or could I copy them first to an external drive and then back into FSX ? Is it okay to format an SSD ? Regards Roy

Darren Would highly recommend the PMDG. It is as simple or as complex as you like. For example you can have it start with all engines running and ready for flight. Manually it flies really well, much better than default FS aircraft. The great thing with the PMDG 737NGX is that at the heart of the aircraft is an FMC which can be pre-programmed to fly to any 3D point in space - or you can switch the FMC off and it flies like a big Cessna 150. Keeping it simple, you would be in the air in 10 mins. If you learnt 2 new things each flight:- after 10 flights you would have a basic knowledge that would allow you to operate the aircraft anywhere in the world after 40 flights you would be competent after 100 flights you would be proficient but you never stop learning and that is why I like PMDG so much. Hi I am using the HUD more and more for ngx flight. It works really well and makes accurate hand flying much easier. I have noticed that when flying in strong winds the FPV drifts left and right of centre. Does anyone know why this is? Is it because the aircraft is left or right of track? Any help would be much appreciated . Regards RoyH

Hi In the FMC front page select PMDG SETUP .... OPTIONS .....PERFORMANCE ... this allows you to disable first officer and enter fps you would like. Like all of FSX there are no hard and fast rules, you have to see what works for your set up. Reducing the fps to single figures makes little difference to flying but does increase system performance. I have mine set to 8 and it is smooth and allows instrument flying without limitations.Although many users prefer 12+ fps on the PFD. The 737NGX is hard on frame rates, much more so than their earlier 737 for FS2004. Reducing some of the data in the VC will help you get up to 30 fps.

I run an Intel i73770 over clocked to 4.6GHZ and had similar issues. Also run Win 7, REX and ORBX. 1. Try the following website to optimize config http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html 2. You need to use something like Texture Max Load Editor from Frosty Software to keep FSX config settings. Otherwise they all change back to standard.!!! 3. I use Nvidia Inspector to set up the graphics. Key is vsync on and lock fps at 30. (with a 60Hz monitor this works well) 4. The FPS limiter does not work well in FSX - Set this to unlimited and use external program (i.e. Nvidia Inspector to lock frame rates 5. Turn off co-pilots instruments 6. Set refresh rate of instruments down to 8 -15 fps. Does not make much difference to flying. 7. Road traffic at 16% a per PMDG 8. Well worth reading the PMDG introduction again (setting up FSX). Need to stick to this. On my PC this pushed frame rates back up to 30 with only minor drops in heavy weather and busy airports.

Autopilot will only engage if the aircraft is in trim and flying more or less straight and level. Use PMDG options in FMC menu to disable realistic autopilot engagement..

Multiple air traffic controllers were online and all functioned correctly. Upon landing back at EGKK I switched from EGKK APP to EGKK GND as requested, but could not get voice contact with the ground controller. The radio was set to the correct frequency for ground control - but the voice channel stayed with EGKK APP. I operated the transfer button to switch the selected and standby frequencies several times - but the frequency did not switch. At the start of the flight I had selected EGKK GND and it had worked, Throughout the flight I changed the COMM frequency about 7 times. All worked okay. It was only returning to EGKK and selecting EGKK GND again that I had the problem. Any ideas much appreciated. RoyH

HiThe way around this is not to open the menu in full screen. Go into window mode, all drop downs work fine, and then back to full screen.I have the same problem using Vista 64RegardsRoy H

My wish list would be British Airways (even though they don't use them) , Delta and an all white 737-800 with wingtips which can serve as a business jet.Have flown 747-400 for 12 months and the 737NG for last 18 months. Can't wait for the NGX and then I will upgrade to FSX

I have installed FSINN and the VIP AI traffic set. Trouble is my PC cannot see any VIP traffic. I have de-installed and re-installed, including the enabler and the VIP folder is in my FS9/aircraft/ folder with the model and texture files. I have tried re-sync etc but to no avail. I cannot even select the VIP traffic manually.I have FS Inn CFG. file with[FSINN=0]IGNORE=0VIP works fine on Squawkbox.Vista X64 HP.Any help greatly appreciated.Many thanksRoy H

Hi SanalI made the move to Vista 64 Home Premium.Dual Core E8600 2X 3.33 GHz8GB RAMUSUS P5QNVidia 9800GT 1024MBFS9 runs @ 70+FPS with all the sliders to the far right.FS9 runs @ 50+FPS with PMDG 737NG and 747-400 sliders to the far rightIf you go for Vista you need the 64bit system otherwise you will have OOM errors.System runs well although I am still clearing a few bugs ( not PMDG )You cannot use the Options / PMDG menus in full screen mode. Works okay in normal windows mode.Cannot start Sqawkbox in fullscreen mode - will operate in FSM thereafterHad to purchase FSUIPC to resolve some control input issuesStill have an issue on Sqawkbox when there is a buzz every time anyone uses the mike. There are some fixes but these don't work on mine.Overall I am pleased and the graphics are brilliant although I have spent a fair time on the help sites getting rid of one or two bugsRegardsRoyH

HiAfter much research I have invested in a new PC and thought members might be interested in results.Intel 2 Duo Core E8600 (2X3.33Ghz)8 GB RAM1024 MB NVidia GEFORCE 9800GT 640GB Hard Drive with 16MB CacheWindows 64bit Home PremiumRuns FS9 with all sliders to the right maxed out at 70 FPS - even in cloud. I always set the max FPS just below what the system achieves as this seems to work well.No problems with FS9.Installed 737NG - I have a couple of small bugs that I am working through.Cannot access PMDG - Options in Full Screen Mode - only works in normal windows modeMouse cursor is black whilst moving across cockpit (not outside scenery)Nose wheel steering is too sensitive - movies 70 degrees left /right with minimal input (Saitek X52 pro)Apart from that works great. Runs at 60 + FPS and have reset FPS to 58 in line with my rule above. I then installed 747-400. This had exactly the same issues as 737-800 plus it was not possible to keep any changed keyboard commands. I de-installed both aircraft and re-installed 737-800 whilst I sort things out. (the 737-800/900 is a great aircraft and I think under-rated)My initial thoughts:-To run FS you need fast dual core processor, lots of RAM and a graphics card with as much memory as you can get cost effectively Vista is the future - probably Vista 64bit because of it's ability to use the additional RAMI did anticipate a few issues but this is not unusual with Flight Simming and add ons. It does take a while for all the drivers, fixes and work arounds etc. catch up. Running at high FPS does make the flying easier - e.g turns without any gain or loss of height - fly final approaches at -800 feet per second vertical speed With improved graphics you seem to spend more time looking out of the windowNow that my graphics have improved I want more. Could be time to upgrade my monitor ( current one has a max resolution of 1280 X 1024 ) Because of the graphics also thinking about FSX !!!!!

HiI have just re-installed FS9 onto a new PC.Intel Dual E8600 ( 2X 3.33 Ghz)8GB RAMNVidia GEFORCE 1MB 9800GTVista 64bit Home Premium.When I tried flights at Seattle Tacoma, ruwnays had flashing strobe lights. Same at Atlanta, San Francisco, Los Angeles.Tried in UK at London Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow - none had strobe runway lights.I thought on my old PC this was because I could not have the sliders to the "right" Lights are now on 8.Is this correct? Hi Happy New Year to one and all.I have just purchased a new PCIntel Duo Core E8600 ( 2X3.33 Ghz)ASUS PSQ Motherboard8GB Corsair RAM1024MB GEFORCE 9800GT640 Gb Hard DriveVista Home Premium 64 bitRuns Fs9 well - all sliders pushed to the right - 60FPS - even with lots of cloud.With default FS9 aircraft all work perfectly. (apart from usual fuzzy paintwork on default Cessna 172 & Baron)After installing 737800/900 all works well apart from:-1. If selecting PMDG - options - screen goes black. If selecting styles only way out is to re-start PC. This only happens in full screen mode. In normal windows mode works okay. Can switch between the 2 no problems.2. The mouse cursor is black when travelling across the cockpit textures. Once it reaches a "switch" mouse returns to white. All control operate satisfactorily.Have downloaded latest FSUIPC and also latest drivers.Any ideas please ?Best regardsRoyH
