  1. If any one can find some good 4x3 monitors these days for a reasonable price, please let me know!
  2. Yes, one cable goes to your video card, and there are three heads for output. There are a lot of discussions about multi-monitor and matrox boxes in the FS2004 and FSX forums, I suggest you look in there for some of the issues and advantages - I run FS9 exclusively, so my setup will be different from yours. And all of your technical questions can be answered here, young Obi-Wan:[/url]http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/Enjoy!
  3. Chris: First off, since you posted it, I assume you're looking for comment. What are you, nuts? Man up dude! Let her keep her name if she wants, but what are you changing YOURS for? My gawd, man, try getting on top once in a while, too! Second off: There is NOTHING like multi-monitor flying. Once you do it, you'll never go back. I found my best set up for FS9 was with a double head to go, though, as the triple head was more money and the double head to go with a separate, 3rd monitor hooked up to my video card's second head actually offered me more control over screen placement than the software solution offered by Matrox. (FYI, My latest specs are in my signature below, and yes, I'm now running 4 monitors on 2 dual head to go's.) You can price this hardware either on the MATROX website, flight sim vendors, Amazon.com or (where I bought mine) on eBay.Buy it, get it working and ENJOY IT! And if you change your name when you get married? Well, don't brag about it -- you're embarassing yourself. (PS: Much of this post was made on a Friday afternoon, with tongue firmly planted in cheek . . .)
  4. I switched from Radar Contact to Pro Flight Emulator 2 years ago and have never looked back. For me PFE is hands down much more realistic and allows me total control over my flight planning, including SIDS, STARS, altitudes, and realism. http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/iboshop.cgi?showd,5638175360,10544_1However, no onboard program can be more realistic than on-line flying. Be aware that it's not perfect either; it too has shortcomings.
  5. >>>>Programs/Microsoft/Microsoft Games/FS9/Aircraft I forgot to mention that your FS9 may be installed elsewhere depending on your operating system or personal configuration. The key folder you're looking for is the correct aircraft folder, inside the aircraft folder inside the FS9 folder.
  6. Hi, Bristol66. Look in your Programs/Microsoft/Microsoft/Games/FS9/Aircraft folder for the aircraft in question. In that folder, there will be a file called aircraft.cfg. Open it with notepad and save a copy to your desktop as backup -- MAKE SURE you save it with a .cfg file extension. Then follow Paul Scarret's instructions TO THE LETTER altering only the lines and values in the EXACT way he specifies. Then resave the file, again making sure you save as a .cfg file, (and NOT a .txt file) -- don't worry, the original is right on your desktop as a backup in case anything goes wrong.Close everything out now and start FS9, loading up the aircraft. If you did everything correctly, the plane will load as before and your light SHOULD work as they should.Congratulations! You have just made your first FS9 customization, and congratulations on finding Paul Scarett's fabulous NG panel.Good luck and HTH.
  7. I'd like to get the same I'm getting right now with my ASUS Maximums. 4.35 with the H50.
  8. I'm really interested in this topic too. I fly FS9 and have got a spare E8500, so I've been thinking about getting this one and storing it in my den just for when my ASUS Maximus finally gives up the ghost. I've been looking at it for over a month wondering if I should.http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0332135
  9. Well I just had the same thing happen to me twice today so I'll post this question over there. (I'm already a registered user.)
  10. That's about what I get with my H50. Just out of curiousity, what core temp software are you using?
  11. Ron: I'm familiar with this problem, but unfortunately I'm not at my flight sim computer and won't be for several hours. Go over to the Ultimate Terrain support forum and search for "roads" or "roads in water" (without the quotation marks) and I think you'll turn up a solution. I fixed it a couple of years ago and can't remember exactly how right now -- it has something to do with the proper order of UT in your scenery.cfg layering, UT should be placed just above all of the default photo scenery (so that it has a lower number) and below any custom scenery in FS9s scenery manager, or turning one of UTs options off -- like railroads, or something.HTH.
  12. Here's another big thumbs up vote for the H50. I've been using it for months and have been really happy with it. My specs are in my sig.
  13. How was it, Rafal? Was there a high frame rate hit using the Blueskyscenery?
  14. I think it's a testament to the quality of this aircraft! And a statement about how hungry the community was for a new, high quality NG!
  15. Hi, maddog! -- good to hear from you -- and thanks for weighing in on this topic! I must say that, after a couple of years of being away from GEPro. it makes the ground look far more realistic even from 10,000 feet than FScene or Bird's Eye View, or even Ultimate Terrain, ever did, don't you think so? I've used so many different ground scenery and/or autogen addons lately, it's getting hard to tell which one is more effective -- but fun I must say.
  16. God, I SO hope these people make just a TON of money . . . :(
  17. If I run all of these scenery addons simultaneously on my FS9 install, do I have to re-install FScene and REX every time I run GEPro? Does GEPro overwrite the same textures as FScene and REX? I know GEPro installs it's own sky textures, which would overwrite REX's sky textures, but does it overwrite any other of REX's work?Right now I run GEPro, and it installs the appropriate ground textures. Then I re-run the FScene.exe install because I like the autogen. THEN I reinstall REX textures because I like their sky, water, and cloud textures, and THAT takes a very long time to run. After that I re-install Soft Horizons. (Whether or not I use and reinstall any part of Bird's Eye View really depends on my mood and time constraints for that particular flight, but I don't want to go there right now.) And I haven't even fired up FS9 yet! :( If I could just eliminate at least the REX re-install, it would make keeping my latest GEPro install a bit easier. As always, thanks for your help, folks!
  18. I bought FScene for the autogen enhancement, and I do notice a difference. Brighter colored houses on the islands, etc. Just better. No effect on ground textures, so I agree with you there.Bird's Eye View is a more all encompassing addition, and for me is probably GEPro's biggest competitor right now. But it's 5 years old and I'm afraid may be adding unneeded frame rate drag on my system. GE Pro is a HUGE pain to install for every flight, but it SEEMS to have the greatest realism for ground textures and from what I've seen my last 3 flights is a dramatic improvement, especially when coming down from FL350 -- I don't know yet, need more time to study it's effects. Then there's REX, which gives me great looking sky, sun, runway textures and clouds, but takes FOREVER to install. And if I have to do it before every flight, I'm afraid either it or GEPro is going to have to go.I'm going to start another thread about what overwrites what, and that may be my answer.
  19. For me, it's just a matter of one less REALLY HUGE program and associated texture sets on my Flight Sim computer, and 2) I just wanted to try it. My other machine is FAR less powerful but since you can basically close GEPro after the textures are installed, I don't see much of a performance issue with it. My main concern is the one I had when I first uninstalled it -- the same one you had. Is it too much for too little effect. I'd be interested to know others opinions expecially when you compare it to other, later options like FScene or even Bird's Eye View.
  20. Luc:Did you follow instructions exactly as given in this thread pinned at the top of the forum?http://forums.simfli...p?f=155&t=78476Did you try running it as administrator? Then I would make sure that my file associations for an exe are correct, and then completely uninstall using someithing like Revo Uninstaller, and start from scratch. And here's a problem I've been having:http://forums.simfli...p?f=155&t=78119I'm running FSC fine on a Win 7 laptop, but my solution to the whole problem is to run a duplicate FSC on an old WideClient Computer with XP on it and copy the database folder to the Win 7 computer and it works fine from there.HTH.
  21. Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was ranting. Just curious as this is the only site I seem to be having trouble with, and wasn't sure if it was just me or that bloody Internet Explorer.
  22. After a number of years of non-use, I'm re-installing my Ground Environment Pro and need to put it on the same WideClient machine my Active Sky Evolution. Can somebody jog my memory and tell me on which machine I need to build my custom textures in GE Pro? On the WideClient, or the Server/FS9 machine? (I couldn't find the old thread here using the search engine -- my shortcoming, I know!)Thank you! EDIT: Just to make this a little more complicated, I also have an istall of FS9 on the WideClient from years ago too. Will GE Pro automatically "pass" any new textures across my network to the correct machine? IOW, will it follow ASE's lead in "where to go"?
