  1. To the original poster: 1) ALL of my "basic training" with FMCs came from YouTube -- do a search. There is a veritable cornucopia (plethora??) of videos available.2) Buy the LevelD! It might just be the best A/C I own (the new iFly NG is giving it a real run for it's money lately, but only time will tell now.)(Pease, no flames. I don't mean to turn this thread into a comparison thread -- that's just my opinion.)
  2. That's it exactly, Eric. That's it exactly.Thank you for your time and effort, however it may turn out.
  3. Hi, guys. I'm not a panel developer in the least so please excuse me if this is a rudimentary question.I would like to resize the iFly 737NG panel to 1/2 height and eliminate the annoying center post and hand hold, and have the window only the height of the actual panel itself. When I open the panel.cfg in FSPanel Studio I see that the panel "background" itself is not a traditional .bmp image but a full blown gauge. The PFD and other flight instruments are separate gauges. When I grab the panel gauge from the top, of course FSPanel Studio doesn't eliminate anything, it's designed to just compresses the gauge and the holes and placement areas for all of the other instruments simply ovalize so that's not working. I didn't really want to ask this over at the developer's site yet because they're pretty focused on more general fixes and service packs, and I thought there might be a straight forward, generic way to do this that I don't know about. As always and in everything, thank you in advance for any help.Chuck
  4. Eric: Would it be possible to save panned multiple windowed views? I run 4 monitors, 3 of which are for my 2 D cockpit view: left monitor is for Left Forward view, center monitor is for generic, Straight Forward, and the 3rd monitor is for the Right Forward view (the 4th monitor is simply where I drag the full 2D panel itself). All 3 view panels are initially straight forward views, and I simply pan the 1st and 3rd monitors in 45 degrees each, and then adjust up and down appropriately in order to line them up all nice and straight so that it appears that I am looking out one big forward wind screen. Otherwise I would have to spend hours editing the panel.cfg's for each and every aircraft in my FS9 collection until I got the views just right and that would take literally days to do (and then if one of my teenage sons were to bump my left or right monitor on the way to the refrigerator, as they often do, I would just have to kill him. )What I would REALLY appreciate is if someone could develop a utility to save my panned views for each monitor for each of my aircraft so that I didn't have to adjust them every single time I want to fly! My Go*, it's aggravating -- the slightest glitch in FS9, or bump to my desk that even slightly jostles my monitors and I have to basically start over. In the past, I've tried saving flights for each aircraft after I adjust views properly, but that is just as time consuming, as I would have to save a flight for every repaint I have for every aircraft -- but when you load up even a different paint the views go back to the default specified in the panel.cfg. Saving views in the default flight correctly doesn't help, either because when you load up a new A/C, FS9 has to, of course, load up a different panel.cfg with all new views, too. And if, for some reason I forget to turn the pitot heat or master avionics on (as I have them set in the default Cessna flight) . . . well, I'll never get my PMDG or iFly's to stay in the air! If someone could just do that, they might actually save a life . . . Thanks or letting me share . . .:((And thanks for all your work. I'm buying your utility when I get hom tonight, regardless.)
  5. Absolutely, Eric! What other enhancements t FS9 did you have in mind?
  6. It's not exactly what you're asking for, but after years of trying to do exactly what you're trying to accomplish, I found this place:http://www.air-source.us/Default.aspThey fly real world schedules for all of the worlds airlines (as far as I can tell), all over the globe, which are updated constantly. They also do scheduled flights for airlines no longer in business under their "classic" division. Since there are no real qualification requirements or minimum flight hours, I joined up. I've now flown almost 5,000 hours with them inside of two years (!) and have never regretted my decision for a moment. Hope this helps.
  7. Wait, wait, Rafal! You didn't notice ANY PERFORMANCE HIT? Were you running in full VC mode across 3 screens, with TrackIR and triple head to go, GEPro, Real Environment Extreme (1080x1080 textures, of course), 80% cloud cover, 100% AI, and all other sliders right?"Well, THERRRES yer problem!" :(
  8. Rafal: I value your membership and contributions here greatly -- please don't hesitate to post ANYTHING here in the future. You knowledge and experience have saved me on many occasions. But I have to tell you that you are not responsible in any way for the development of this thread. No one is so powerful . . . Further, whether or not I agree with what everyone (or ANYone) else wrote, I think this thread evolved naturally and actually quite informatively. ( I didn't know ANYBODY was having problems with their sceneries or customer service, but I did take note.) Flight Sim is an isolating hobby as far as system and addon performance is concerned and t's not like we can look over at our buddies' computer screen to see how well he's got his version of Antalaya running. So people share their experiences here, somewhat to complain, but in complaining also receive verification (AND validation) of their concerns. So what went on in this thread IMHO is not only normal, but perhaps even helpful, expecially for future visitors. Until all software vendors take up Flight1's refund policy (BRAVO FLIGHT1!!!) forums and posts like this one are the only preemptive venue we have! (I also hope some of our more sensitive moderators feel this way too.)
  9. Jim: Google toolbar will tell you.In any event, I'm unsuscribing from this thread. As Monty Python once said: "It is a silly place. . ." and I will think twice before I try to help again as well.
  10. THAT's the problem! Please don't think twice, Rafal. Thank you for this post. The fact is I understand what everyone is trying to say. The other fact is I've never had any major problems with their sceneries. Indeed, I like all that I've bought from them! :(
  11. I don't want to enter into a debate with you, Arnaud, but I believe it's you who is being totally fair. ALL software developers have been know to release what some might call "crap ware" simply because there aren't enough Beta testers on the planet to recreate every situation/build that will happen in the real world after release. I think most of us simmers are just more impatient because we all actually PAY for this stuff.
  12. It sounds like you may have uninstalled some addon scenery without restoring the default .bgl file. Have you installed or uninstalled anything in that area lately? Or maybe Ultimate Terrain Europe? If you do a search here on "coastlines" you'll turn up over 5 pages of people who have had similar issues and fixed them . . . :(
  13. And lets be fair -- every major software company in existence releases products to the public that still has to be tweaked; sometimes for the life of the product. Anyone ever hear of a little package called Windows?
  14. Have you tried this question over at their dedicated support forum. The 'peeps' over there are generally pretty responsive . . .
  15. Please. I already said I was kidding about AVG (read the whole thread). But some (like me) may feel that a blind link left in a public forum to a Chinese website could be considered A) dangerous and , :( irresponsible. You HAVE heard that some Chinese sites can be dangerous? I wanted to warn people that come to this thread now (and in the future) that the link led to a CHINESE site. And NO anti-virus software is infallible. I've always been very grateful, and helpful, here, which is what I was trying to be.
  16. Thanks, Jean-Jaques. Just to be clear, I was joking before about AVG Free -- after pulling my hair out with all of the commercial bloatware out there that passes as anti-virus software (but which in reality is itself far worse on a daily basis than any virus) I use it exclusively on all my computers. Best damn anitvirus software I've ever found, and the least invasive. But I WILL stay away from Chinese sites in any event -- if only on principal alone.
  17. That link leads to a Chinese website. I think I'll pass . . . :(
  18. Wait, wait! I never got that email. . .!
  19. dallyborr: Could you be clearer? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying about the scenery. (I don't mean to be rude, but the word in context is "except" not "accept" - just thought you'd like to know.)
  20. Go either way. Of all the middle eastern countries my wife and I have been to, Turkey is the only one we really want to go back to a second time! What a great and beautiful nation!
  21. It's also possible in XP - at least XP64, which is what I use. Monitor position is generally set either under the "Settings" tab in Display Properties (right click on desktop, and select Properties) or in the softwarre that comes with your video card.
  22. If you're going to wait for RC5, you may yet have quite a long wait . . .
  23. The latest issue is exceptional. I highly recommend it!
