  1. It is exactly like that - I use the middle mouse button all the time. But, once it happens due to getting too close to the edge - clicking the middle mouse button has no effect until I right click the mouse button. The big problem is the image resets to look at the floor or right lower cockpit because my 2nd monitor is to the right and down from the main monitor. Makes for difficult landings, particularly in IFR conditions.
  2. I agree with your analysis - that is exactly how it is acting but I cannot find out how to prevent it. Almost every time I start the sim it works correctly and the 'scroll when near the edge' does not happen. But, something happens occasionally to enable the behavior and I then have to restart the sim to get normal mouse control back.
  3. About once out of five sim startups I experience very strange mouse control and I cannot figure out what it means or how to change it. It is not repeatable. If I shut down the sim and restart it the problem does not recur. I have two screens with the sim running on one and Navigraph and other stuff running on the secondary. Moving the mouse around the cockpit (not in VR) everything works as expected until the cursor is within 1" of any edge of the screen. When the cursor touches the area within one inch of the edge - the screen image suddenly changes so that the center of focus is now where the cursor WAS at the point it touched the 1" boundary. This happens most frequently when I am moving the mouse to the 2nd screen. The mouse does smoothly transition to the 2nd screen but the primary screen center of focus remains at the point where the mouse left the primary screen. When I move the mouse back to the primary screen the center of focus travels with the mouse cursor. The screen continues to scroll with the mouse cursor until I click anywhere on the primary screen inside the 1" edge boundary. The same happens if I move the mouse into the 1" boundary area and then back into the primary screen - I have to click somewhere to stop the screen scrolling. As I said this only happens occasionally but if it does happen it is at the first screen I see in the sim and remains in effect until I restart the sim. 4 out of 5 flights I take do NOT have this problem and I cannot figure out what is causing it.
  4. You can see my specs: i7-9700K at 4.6Hz 32GB RAM RTX 3060 Ti (8GB) HP Reverb G2 VR goggles flying in 2D on a 1080p screen I see more than 50 fps in almost all situations with all settings at HIGH or ULTRA, flying around San Diego or LA at 5,000-feet with very detailed scenery addons I see about 35 fps. No stutters or any other artifacts. flying in VR with sliders at 85 - 95 I get about 10 fps less than in 2D I am very happy with my system and perceive almost no slowdowns or visual degradation
  5. I have been a professional large computer system (operating systems and hardware) geek since 1969 when I started at NASA. If I spend less than four hours a day on the computer managing all the various aspects of our highly computerized life - I would feel lost. If MSFS did not keep me so busy with management, upgrade, problem solving activities - I would have to find some other application to keep me busy. MSFS can be difficult if you take advantage of all the wonderful payware and freeware and I often wonder how people who are not in love with computer technology find the will power to deal with it.
  6. Last Week - Steam told me that my installation had vanished but it turned out that Steam had changed the pointer to the Official library. Once I told Steam where to find that library - Steam still told me I needed a 30GB updated. When I told it to go ahead on the update - Steam uploaded nothing and then said my installation was good to go. This all happened after I rearranged my computer cables, both internal and external, and the Official library ended up on a different SATA port. Easy to correct IF you know what to look for. In December, 2021 Steam lost all track of my Library and I did have to down load 122 GB to make it right. No idea why the library was lost back then. It was working fine at 9 PM - the next day at 3 PM I could not load the sim - no installation found??
  7. My OpenXR Developer tools for WMR says it is 109.2111.23003 API Version 1.0.19 last update 12/5/2001 Are we talking about the same thing?
  8. Thank you for that! I was aware of the possibility of the USB being powered off but had made sure all those boxes were unticked when I was working on my Reverb G2 setup in mid-December. I just assumed the power property would remain unchanged. When I took your advice - I found all the settings to be "allow" Two days ago I disconnected all the peripherals in order to re-organize all my cabling (6-sata devices and seven USB devices) in the case and outside the case. I guess that unplugging/re-plugging and adding a new USB powered hub allowed Win 10 to reset every USB power management setting to "allow the computer to turn off this device" Thanks again
  9. I am flying along with no problems when I realize that the CH Yoke, CH pedals, and keyboard are no longer talking to the sim. But, the mouse does move the cursor. The mouse click will not bring up the menu nor will the mouse wheel zoom or do any of the functions I have programmed for the various keys and wheels. The keyboard ESC works and I can get to Control Options where I find that ALL the programmed axises and keys work as I want. I return to the sim flying window and again none of the controls work. This happens in VR and in 2D.
  10. SOLVED! (but don't understand why my actions solved the problem?) I tried everything recommended to solve the CTD during loading: - disable full screen optimization - run as administrator - two prior Nvidia drivers, reinstalled current Nvidia driver - emptied Community - emptied content.xml and the sim kept crashing BEFORE it read a single data file. Finally told Steam to create a NEW library and move the existing Steam copy of FlightSim into that new library. When I then started FlightSim thru Steam - Installation Manager said it had to update 30GB and I told it to Update - that update was done in just a few seconds and the Sim started normally. But, had lost all my control setting and general options. I shut down the sim and restarted it at which time Steam told me the current files were out of synch with the cloud backups and did I want to use the cloud. I told Steam to download the cloud files and Viola - all my control and general settings were restored and the Sim runs perfectly again. No idea what caused the problem or why moving to a new library (kept all down loaded content) fixed anything.
  11. Windows 10 Changing the sharpness level did help a little but the effect was still noticeable when I upgraded to FlightSim 1.21.18.0 the problem went away.
  12. The sim (1.21.18.0) was running great this morning when real life interfered and I had to take the G2 goggles off. Now, when I start the Sim (steam) I see the "FlightSim.exe has stopped working" message exactly 29-seconds from pressing Play in Steam. Or - 4-seconds after the mystery 30-second pause during which time flightsim.exe issues no commands to windows. I run ProcMon to capture ALL system events and then narrow down to the interesting stuff. I can see the command where Windows loads wersvc.dll (windows error reporting system) at 29.0xxx seconds. The flighsim.exe commands just prior to that call to WER are actually issued by Milviz_WASM_Helper.exe which issues 10 consecutive calls to read SimConnect.cfg with a result of NAME NOT FOUND each time. It tries to find the ,cfg file in users\Public Documents (no such folder) and Windows\System32 (no file found). I cannot find simconnect.cfg anywhere on my system - is it necessary and is it the root cause of my intractable CTD during loading? After those 10 attempts to find SimConnect.cfg FlightSim.exe tries to DELETE a file named \MicrosoftFlightSimulator\? (where ? is really a symbol I have never seen before) - Windows responds NAME INVALID FlightSim.exe then reads an AMD64 driver named nvldumdx.dll ( directX driver) and dcomp.dll (creates registry entries) Windows kernel then does 20 svchost calls resulting in the reading of the AVAST (my security system which is supposed to be inactive - it's menu says it is) journal and database followed immediately by a call to open WER.dll (windows error reporting) How else do I determine what is causing my load to fail? At the point it fails - flightsim.exe has made no attempt to read any data files in packages or in Community. Community Folder is empty and Content.xml does not exist before I start the sim.
  13. I took your advice and clicked on the Download 31GB button. The sim showed downloading for about 4-seconds/3 files and was done. When I go into Content Manager - I see everything installed and updated. The sim runs perfectly now
  14. I've done all you suggest but the Installation Manager still wants to download 30.71 GB.
  15. I used the Steam Move process to relocate my Steam Flight Sim library member from a SSD to the newly installed Intel SSD6 NVMe drive. Steam did the move and told me it was happy with the results. Now - when I start the Sim from within Steam - Installation Manager (checking for updates) wants to download 35 to 125 GB of content because it is a "Mandatory Update". I've pointed the install packages path at every possible permutation of folder levels but Installation Manager insists on updating. Here is the folder structure the Steam Move created: I:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\Common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator - at this level (MSFS) I find Community, Official, Packages, Published Packages folders and the FlightSimulator.exe file The Common level contains folders MSFS, Community, Downloading,Official,Shadercache, temp with all folders being empty The MSFS level (in the Common Folder) contains folders Official, Packages, Published Packages When I point the install path at the SteamApps level - it wants to download 111.45GB Common level - it wants to download 111.45 GB MSFS level - it wants to download 30.71 GB Packages level - it wants to download 111.45 GB Sim version 1.21.18.0 was working perfectly just prior to the Steam Move. What do I do? I would like to get rid of the top three folder levels so the structure would be I:MicrosoftFlightSimulator Does that make sense?
  16. DX12 I am experiencing many more CTD events in VR (OpenXR/WMR no SteamVR) than with DX11 - but it is still early days to see if DX12 is the problem. I turned on DX12 shortly after Steam unexpectly upgraded my Sim to 1.21.18.0 (public beta). My VR flights are showing much better frame rates (+20% or more) with the public beta/DX12/NIS mod but cannot say which is the cause of the increase. All I know is that I am pleased.
  17. When I Select Aircraft off the Main Menu - I have a Default G36 and a separate Turbo G36 - each with their own liveries. The Turbo G36 has a separate thumbnail and information section in the Selection window.
  18. My last bit of confusion was clarified this morning - when Steam did the update the "installed package" pointer in user.opt was changed (not by me on purpose) to a Community Folder that did have a couple Navigraph things in it. The confusion for me was that my Desktop Link to Community and MS AddonLinker still pointed to the community folder in use before the Beta Upgrade. When I started FlightSim the mods pointed at by the "updated" installed package parm were being used and I could see them in flight sim. What confused me was those SAME mods were in the Community Folder that had been in use BEFORE the update and it took a while for me to discover there were two Community folders on my flightsim SSD with some but not identical contents. AddonLinker was updating the Community folder I knew about and could see but Flightsim.exe was reading a different Community folder.
  19. I think Steam got frustrated with me - I do not recall asking for the beta version - I did see it as an option but it required a key code which I did not have since I am not part of the Insider group. Alls Well that Ends Well
  20. I had been struggling with the dreaded "Black Loading Screen" problem which, suddenly started on Thursday Dec 30. I spent many hours trying all the recommended solutions/work arounds with no success. Friday evening, December 31, I turned off and then back on three Steam Overlay parameters: Enable Overlay Use Big Picture Use Desktop Game and, for no apparent reason because I had done that many times prior, the Sim loaded just as it should. But, at the "checking updates" screen I was told there was a mandatory 114 GB update. I pointed the update process at the proper SSD and folder and three hours later the sim was fully updated and operating just as it had been on December 29. BUT... The version number had changed from 1.21.13.0 to 1.21.18.0 which, sounds like a big update to me. AND... my images and colors when in the sim are vastly improved, sharper and more vivid, (none of the sim control parms changed - they were and still are all mostly Ultra/200) and my VR frame rate has increased by about 30% to 50%. What the heck happened to my Steam version of flight sim on New Years eve? I love the results but am very confused.
  21. I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB when I changed the processor from an i3-9100F to a i7-9700K. Flight Sim's usage of memory hardly changed with the upgrade. I never experience stutters so don't know if it helped with that. Using many different system performance monitors - I never see the memory in use (committ) by Flight Sim exceed about 14 GB when in VR mode and 8 - 10 GB when in 2D mode. I am very careful to kill any process running on the sim system that is not necessary for Flight Sim to run so other processes use very little memory. Flying in 2D mode - With my RTX 3060 Ti I am Main Thread limited. My 8-core machine runs at about 55% CPU busy with most of the work being done by 3-processors. The GPU runs about 60% busy. With almost all settings at Ultra / 200 I see 30 FPS flying around San Diego with LVFR KSAN loaded along with dozens of other scenery enhancements and 50+ when flying over SoCal mountains. Flying in VR mode - With my RTX 3060 Ti I am GPU limited (stays at 99% utilization) with 8GB GPU memory being fully used. My 8-core machine runs at about 35% CPU busy with most of the work being done by 3-processors. My FPS is 20 in downtown San Diego and about 32 - 35 out over the mountains. BUT - memory is cheap so I would do the upgrade - Just don't expect a huge increase in performance.
  22. I suddenly experienced the black screen at loading after many days of successful operation. I have tried every option discussed in the threads about this issue. -fastlaunch - remove USB - change audio - change drivers - virus exceptions - NO antivirus running - stop audio services Procmon and Proc Explorer show the sim issuing all the normal calls and directX wtites to the GPU. The GPU Is 38% busy but the framerate is 0. I can hear the various sounds thse sim makes while loading and the CPU for the sim is about 30% on an 8-core machine. All appears normal in every monitor and log What do I try next?
  23. I've done a lot of testing and "fooling around" with settings to see if I can reliably and consistently reproduce the "vibration" appearance. Short Answer: NO I've increased to 110 and decreased to 80 all combinations of sliders, sharpeners, and NSI Mod values. I've increased other settings from High to Ultra and then back to Medium. The vibrating image appears in some but not all flights. Once it begins in a flight - only shutting down the sim makes it go away. At my current settings - I only see the vibration in one of five or six flights.
  24. Tried that - did not work. I did not regain the controls until the MSFS window shut down.
  25. Well Yes - sort of - I had Navigraph chart open on a 2nd monitor - can't see it in VR but it is there when I remove the goggles - does that count?
