Just wondered what addons and utilities people are getting together in preparation for the upcoming Tutorial #2. As I understand it, it will be a flight from Amsterdam, Schipol to LOWI. I've also heard that TopCat will also be involved for those who already have it. Other than that, I don't know too many other details. What I have:- Aerosoft Approaching Innsbruck- Navigraph charts for Schipol and LOWI- TOPCAT- Active Sky 2012- FSBuild- Paper and ink for the printer!What I intend to get hold of:- Aerosoft Mega Airport Amsterdam X*- Beer on IceAnything else?* Is Amsterdam X Mega Airport worth getting? The last time I thought about buying it I heard that the performance in FSX wasn't that great. Is a Cray super computer still needed to run in (particularly with the NGX?). i.e. would I be wasting my money? Are there any alternatives?

^ Yes, I'd also say it was exactly this. It's just like the REDFA1A approach in Tutorial #1.

Did anyone find a solution to this as I've just reinstalled RC and I'm getting the same problem?

It's good to hear that you guys are branching out to x-plane. X-plane may not be my choice sim at the moment, but at least it is alive and being continually developed. X-plane needs support from developers like PMDG. This can only be a good thing for the flight sim community.

I've also been following its progess for a while and yes, it looks like the perfect pre-flight planning tool for the NGX. Let's hope for a release soon.

Hmm, maybe I screwed up and didn't convert to lbs or something similar. Will double check everything and try again. How about a tutorial on inputting decent forecasts next? Just a thought!Thanks once again.

Yeah, I actually did that, but there is a big difference between FSBuild and Topcat. Notably in takeoff weight. Dud you use the default Topcat settings or some other settings? That's what I'm interested in.

Good tutorial. I need to use Topcat more, so this is a big help.Any chance you could post your FSBuild/TOPCAT settings? This would help me get the two aligned with the NGX values.

Keep an eye on Fly Engravity and CP Flight. All pro equipment. But you get what you pay for.

Check out the videos from 'Skysurfer', iirc, if you want to go down the YouTube route. He's a (nice) guy on this forum (CircleToLand) and a 737 pilot.

I apologise for calling you an idiot mate, didn't mean it to come across like that, but all you hear is people saying, ' why can't i have my videos immediately, blah, blah, blah'. It seems you are not one of those, but there are far too many impatient people these days...If they are having problems with editors etc, then so what. There are a lot of companies in crisis at the moment. Agreed, they could be quicker, but Chris is doing an excellent job of filing the void by producing some good 'flow' videos. Three in just over a week if I'm not mistaken. I'll be sticking with them for now. I've got faith in those guys - far better than the majority of home brew vids on YouTube which are often incorrect. Agreed though that there are a lot of good alternative resources out there.

Then you were an idiot to give them your money in the first place. They make no secrets about their videos not being available at the time of purchase. Still, I bet you are far too busy reading the FCOM as we speak ;-)

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with AS2012 Word Not Allowed. I'm experiencing mixed results with the new cloud textures. Perhaps a new threat topic when you get a chance to tweak it a bit?

Lol, well said! I've wasted far too much of my life messing around with FSX settings in the past!I think a post of this ilk should be served with lashings of "YMMV".

I'm experiencing the same, little or no turbulence effects. I've tried implementing the same settings from ASE but I get some strange fog layer effects going on (and still no turbulence).

I understand the maths, I have no problem with that. I use binary every day. Thanks all the same though...Reading Word Not Allowed's first few posts it looks as though I got the AM setting the wrong way around. So my fault. But all it would have taken would have been a polite couple of words to say 'hey mate, you got the values the wound way around'. I hate the pretentious nature of some people on here sometimes. Either help or don't. I'm cool if you say 'go search' at the beginning, but if you half help and throw your toys out of the pram then what do you expect? You know infinitely more than I do (evidently) about the inner working of FSX. Just wanted some polite help, that's all...Off to listen to some Lindesfarn...

Agreed. I only ever got mine close to 3.8GHz and the Vcore was scarily high. I ended up backing off a bit in the end. As Martin said, it didn't like high multipliers either.
