PMDG 777 Brand New Screenshot!
Amuses me no end when people lie and get caught, especially on something as silly as this. Reminds me of been a kid at primary school this kind of deception. Paul

Unusual autothrottle behavior
I wonder if that is what i did, maybe when i was entering the course for the ILS on the MCP i accidently clicked the TOGA hidden thing, that part of the tutorial is around that phase of flight descending through 10 thousand. Paul M.

Unusual autothrottle behavior
Was in Vnav as per the tutorial no speed was in the MCP window it was blank, the FMC was asking for 250 or below I believe, not sure about N1 AT, I basically was following the tutorial... is it possible to click the hidden click point on the MCP that will select TOGA? Though once you disengage the AT it shouldn't command full thrust again once you reselect?Paul M

Unusual autothrottle behavior
No i don't use FSUIPC. but never had this problem with the MD-11 or 747X with full throttle been applied into a over speed condition in descent. Paul M

ngx performance comparated with other addon
I get 10 to 16FPS on the ground at Gatwick with UT2 and REX on which is smooth enough for me, in the air it goes to 18 to 30 FPS which is perfect, on approach into EHAM was 15 19FPS for me, more than enough to hand fly it smoothly (EHAM is default airport for me, scenery is the excellent NL2000 freeware) It is less FPS than the level D for me and the MD-11 but more than the 747, overall i am happy with the FPS considering i have UT2 on high settings and REX my system specs are:Q9950 quad at 3.4ghz, 4gb ram, GTS250 1gig, windows 7 64bit which are very mid range now (though the Q9950 is still a gem of a processor 12mb cache i think helps a lot)

Unusual autothrottle behavior
Flown the Tutorial flight twice now and I am loving the NGX, it's a work of art! I had a quick look through the forums and searched but could not see anyone else with this behavior. The first time I did tutorial I did it with no weather and the aircraft behaved pretty much as expected. Second time I wanted real world weather as I prefer to fly with this on, I use REX for the weather. The NGX performed perfectly up until the final part of the descent, at about 10000 it commanded full thrust into an over speed so i disconnected engaged speed brakes and retard thrust manually until was below 250, turned on autothrust again and the plane once again went to full thrust I let it climb up to just below over speed again (300 and something knots) then disengaged the autothrust and used my throttles to manually control speed to touch down. Some things I noticed, the speed tape was jumping around a lot about 20 40 knot jumps up and down maybe this was confusing the AT logic? There was a very strong crosswind i think 30 40 knots (at this point can i say how awesome the HUD is flew the plane perfectly using the steerage guidance thingy and landed on the center line) which went to a 14 knot headwind about 20 seconds before touch down ^^ Will fly the Tutorial again tonight with RW weather and see if it repeats or if it was just a issue with the weather that night, was very windy and gusty in Europe. Thoughts on Wilco/Feelthere EJets?
I have both E-jets V2 and ERJ V2 and have been flying the E-175LR a lot now and really enjoy it, done some landings in total white outs with crosswinds with the auto pilot all the way down no problems, systems wise it's a pretty decent simulation and I really enjoy the call co pilot feature as well as the ability to load the plane as cold and dark by default. The downsides are the GP which isn't great to look at, (rest of cockpit is great 8/10)the night lighting does not bother me, and the lack of repaints with the package, you only get a few per version which is a bummer.Overall it's a solid 8/10 for me, compared to say the PMDG MD-11 which I give a 9.5/10Regards Paul

Some Dirt on the PMDG 737 NGX
Looks great! Will be awesome to to see the plane in its full glory, the J41 is a masterpiece, so I am looking forward to this very much! The VSD looks awesome too, can't wait for all these little extra bits and pieces in the final product, will be a lot of fun.Regards Paul

Embraer Ejets
I Have the e-jets V2 the regional ones and I think it's a nice simulation, lots of fun to fly and the FMC is pretty complex with a lot of different functions. Not as good as PMDG J41 but it's not far off, and it's easier to fly for me from a systems point of view. Very user friendly planes these Ejets. My only gripe is having to pay for a lot of the repaints, as you don't get that many with the basic package, ie none for the 145XR (well the embraer house colours, but that doesn't count imho)Paul

Wilco's new Airbus?
I too think that a lot of confusion arises from what people think is lite or in depth simulation. I myself enjoy all of PMDG offerings however I never use the failures, I am really only interested in normal flight operations, which means mostly that the plane needs to be operated in the correct way and you need to work the FMC and it operates as it does in plane under normal ops, ie it has proper vnav lnav sid/stars whatever (I think the J41 is pretty perfect in this way), I don't care if the toliet lights don't work if the left tire gets a puncture or this hydraulic system controls these things in a failure. I am not training to be a Airbus Pilot and if i ever had to fly one because the pilots passed out or something I would pray that the plane was still able to be operated by autopilot and the FMCG which I would hopefully know how to operate for normal operations! So a indepth simulation for me is one that simulates normal operations, to call that a lite sim is to say that all those pilots up there are just been lite pilots while flying us around the world :( The in depth system failure omg the coffee maker wont run we lost the right engine drive is super indepth for me and I assume pilots themselves only experience them in the simulator for their working careers, with a very few really unlucky ones getting it in flight. I appreciate for some people this makes the simulation a in depth one, but for me they are not relevant to flying the plane in its day to day operations, and as such are icing on the cake. Paul

Quality Wings 757 is Released
Would be interesting to see how it compares to the CS 757, the screen shots look nice and it seems you get the 200, -200F and the 300 as a package, which is nice.Paul

CS 757-767 Updates out
Do you have to totally uninstall the old 757 or only the block addons, (which i don't have) wasn't clear on this point and I am D/L the patch now. Would be nice to get some improvements on it, the 757 is often iffy on approach for me, and FPS is a little hard though i got a new Q9550 and my FPS has doubled in other addons just not tried it with the 757 yet.Paul M

Installation missing 2 files
Hi, brought the J41 today and just ran the install program and about 2/3 of the way through it threw up j41_5f2c.rra system cannot find file specified error (0x2) tried the retry button didnt work so ignored it and it continued for a few seconds and popped up same msg but for the file J41_b73a.rra so i ignored that one and finished install.I am now in the plane and it so far seems to work however the PMDG menu only shows the 'about' option and that's it, no way to load a panel state or anything else unlike the 747, is the file I d/l from the PMDG site corrupt or something?Anyway anyone know what what's going on here.RegardsPaul Milburn

Summer Wind (2009)
Great video really enjoyed it! I have a question about views how do you get rid of the red information about what view you are using when you record your films, thanksPaul

Me and my flying buddy, the i7-975....
I have high frames on my dual core 2.2ghz O/C to 2.8ghz if I dont use heavy iron addons like the PMDG 747 or MD-11 etc, high 20s at mega airport heathrow and no blurries using the VFR uk scenery, I appreciate that some people have issues running FSX on older systems with mostly default scenery and airports but for me the real test of a system is to run an addon like the PMDG 747 and fly into mega airport heathrow (or similiar airport with a VFR package on top) with all your settings and AI at max, if you get 30+ frames then you have beaten FSX into submission :)Grats on your new system and lets see it really pushed :-)RegardsPaul

Flight Planner?
http://www.vatsim.net/ has a really good list of places you can get SID/STAR and runway charts, you click on pilot resources and then theres a remark saying something like "learn how to obtain and read charts" clickon that hyperlink and it takes you to a huge list for charts around the world. As far as flight planning like previous posters mentioned there are a lot of good places you can get them now for free I usehttp://www.vatroute.net/ for european routeshttp://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ for routes that vatroute doesnt dohttp://flightaware.com/statistics/ifr-route// for US routes.THe navigraph updates are worth gettting, I tend to skip cycles sometimes 2-3 before I update as things dont change much between them, it's a cheap way to get prodcedures that would otherwise require a large ammount of work, you can of course program a approach or departure manually into the FMC using charts but it's a lot of work (some people may enjoy it xD) I would recommend trying to program some manually a few times just so you know how to use the advanced navigation capabilites of the FMC on your plane. You still have to work out your own fuel use and winds aloft weather data, average wind component for your flight is something I have not been able to work out yet, but it's not a huge problem for most flights, I think it comes into play more if you are in say the north atlantic jetstream on very long flights etc, flights that are 1 2 hours the wind doesnt make a huge difference to your final arrival time so fuel comsumption isnt greatly affected.Hope that helpsRegardsPaul

Mega Airport Heathrow
I for some reason have no option in my sound tab to do anything just lists the information about the drivers but there is no way to change anything, I have two sound tabs as well (two display tabs to) I saw this fix on the Level D forums so had looked at it. I am running the latest realtek drivers from their website so no idea what else i can do.Running 64 bit vista as well.regardsPaul

Mega Airport Heathrow
Right but it seems to fix disappearing textures in the PMDG products for me so far (touch wood)(Mysteriously it also seems to have fixed issues with GPWS and altitude call outs on approach in the level D 767), if i have to choose will run DX10 and not have textures at heathrow at night and keep textures in virtual cockpit :-)Paul

traffic in fsx
Do the payware addons like My Traffic and Ultimate traffic 2 have less of a hit rate on frames than the default FSX traffic? And if so anyone have a ballpark figure for the difference, ie 5 FPS more or something.RegardsPaul

Mega Airport Heathrow
I have had mega airport heathrow (MAH from now on!) for a while, and its a nicely done airport although FPS heavy that is to be expected. Anyway I recently decided to run in DirectX 10 mode as people have reported that you dont get dissappearing textures in your PMDG planes and so far this has worked for me, however MAH now has blank textures at night time on the buildings daytime its fine, but at night time i get blank textres, anyone have an idea what is causing this, I would have posted on the aerosoft forums but they have been offline for 3 days now so given up on them.RegardsPaul

seeking MD11 FPPM
It is very odd that they wont release this information, it takes some of the shine off the MD-11 in the planning stages, my other planes i can use fuel planner programs and get a pretty good estimate of fuel needed, the MD-11 i am working with a rule of thumb for fuel per hour putting it in the FMC and seeing if its enough (one flight I was overweight, tried to fuel dump which didnt seem to work, but thats another story) They don't even make Md-11s anymore so can't see why they would not want fuel buel information out there, it's not like they need to hide bad performance from potential customers, and anyone who would have brought it anyway would want to know its fuel useage before purchasing.RegardsPaul
