Takeoff speeds impossible to set
Hi Dorian Just ensure you follow the following sequence and you should be good to go. 1. Correct departure runway inserted. 2. On the "Thrust Lim" page, iinsert De-rated Thrust followed by Assumed Temparature, as required. 3. On the "Takeoff Ref" page, as you have supplied, just "Line Select" the V1, VR and V2 and the fonts will turn big. 4. Manually set the V2 in the MCP speed window and then ARM VNAV. That's it! Simple fix for bouncing on landing
Gents Looking at the video, everything looks just fine, I did not see any bounce, the minor fluctuations on the radio altimeter during rollout is normal. Best regards Palle

Between Altitudes
Hi Paul Thanks for the feedback, by the way, I did a quick test using "Profile" during descent with an "At or Below" Constraint above the ideal FMC calculated descent profile and the FCP Altitude window set at a lower altitude, guess what, the autopilot leveled off at the exact "At" altitude until passing the waypoint, then continued the descent to the FCP set altitude. The interesting thing though was that the FMC vertical deviation indication from the ideal descent profile was correctly displayed!!!!!! Best regards Palle

Can not maintain cruise speed
Hi Frank Hmm, it sounds like there is an issue with your weather engine and how it is setting your high altitude weather, particular with regards to the temperature, I would suggest you to check the options selected. Best regards Palle

Between Altitudes
Gentlemen You cannot program an In Between Comstraint in the FMS, additionally, if you program an "At or Below" descent constraint, the FMS will consider it as an "At" constraint". Apart from that, I think this airplane is one of the best for FSX. Best regards Palle

Flex Temp
The Margin calculated by TOPCAT is based on one engine inoperative conditions, during a normal takeoff, you would normally rotate at 2000ft/600m earlier, provide you correctly meet all the assumptions for the takeoff. Best regards Palle

Take-off limits
Gentlemen The B777 with the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)option has the Onboard Performance Tool (OPT) application which enables you to calculate the takeoff/landing performance data. If this is not included, I am confident TOPCAT will have the data avaiable shortly after the release. Best regards Palle

New to MD11; some Questions regarding real world operations
Gentlemen Allow me to answer question 1, 5 and 6: 1) Range depends on which engine type has the best Cruise "Specific Fuel Consumption (S.F.C.)" 5) Use of autobrakes is beneficial, considering passenger comfort, brakewear and pilot workload, (one application and decelleration rate). 6) I doubt if all operators would need this option. Now scheduling 777X flights!
Gentlemen May I suggest, a few local flights including patterns, approach exercises, airwork pratcice of non-normal procedures, engine out familiarization etc. to get used to the handling, integration and interfase of the aircraft. That way you will be more comfortable and will appreciate all features of the aircraft. Best regards Palle

Why the GE90-115B and not the GE90-110B1
The difference is a line of coding in the EEC (FADEC) to limit the maximum available thrust to 110K, that is all, it results in lower temperature in the core engine which means less wear and tear and a lower maintenance bill. If the airline operate from hot and high airports, then the 115K is required, otherwise you might have to offload revenue load on a regular basis, not a good idea! Best regards Palle H. Jensen

PMDG MD-11 Service Ceiling
GentsIn the real world, airlines are in the business of generating revenue, that means we operate at the most cost economical flight level and speed based on the individual cost index for the sector we are flying. Often, due to ATC restrictions they might ask to fly higher/lower and/or faster/slower that we ideally like to based on the ECON Cost Index. When you get close to your MAX ALT, be carefull as you will have a smaller Manouvre Margin to play around with just in case unforseen circumstances like turbulence etc.Palle Jensen
