  1. Many thanks for the replies. I think this is an investment worth going for. Sounds like the SPAD drivers are the way to go. Many thanks for the replies. I think this is an investment worth going for. Sounds like the SPAD drivers are the way to go.
  2. I am considering getting one but the reviews I read keep saying the dials are inaccurate i.e. you turn it one click and it jumps two settings which makes it really frustrating to use. These have been quite old reviews and so i was wondering if Saitek have sorted this out so newer panels work better. Does anyone have any insight? Cheers Rich
  3. I am looking to upgrade my PC, starting with the video card. I run p3d v2 which I understand would benefit from more than the 1.5gb of memory on my gtx480. I was going to get the new 980gtx but I am wondering whether that will really give me much more performance on p3d than the 970 which is about half the price. I don't really use the pc for any other gaming. I am also planning to get a z97 motherboard and i7-4790k but would be grateful for thoughts on the graphics card as a starter. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. You have helped me decide to go for it and get the 780GTX. Rich
  5. I am running P3d v2 which is generally ok, but I struggle to get a smooth flight at 25-30 fps. My system is i7-930 @4.2ghz, 6mb RAM, GTX480 Asus Rampage 3 motherboard 256mb SSD Win 7 In order to get a bit more performance I was thinking of upgrading my computer. Given that the GPU does more of the work under P3d v2 I was thinking that this would be the best place to splash the cash. Am I likely to see a decent performance increase with a GTX780 or should I look at a new processor instead? Thanks Rich
  6. Compatibility mode makes no difference (people seem to keep suggesting this but is does not work) and I do not really want to disable UAC (whether that works or not). The point of my post was to report that I have found something different that seems to stop the problem on my machine which I am sharing in case it makes a difference for anyone else.
  7. I have been experiencing two issues with P3d on Win8. Firstly the disappearing flight control issue and secondly 'fatal error' crashes when trying to switch in and out of P3d in full screen mode. I have found that for me, starting P3d in windowed mode (i.e. Maximised=0 within 'Main' in the cfg file) appears (after a week or so flying) to have got rid of both these issues. I have no idea why this would be, but if I load up in full screen I have numerous problems, if I load in windowed mode (and then switch to full screen once the sim has loaded) it seems perfectly happy. 8. I have been trying to use VoxATC with P3D. It does run and is functional but whenever I run the Indexer it picks up the FSX directory rather than P3D and I cannot find a way to change it. As a result, where I have addon scenery I seem to get planes parked half in buildings etc. I use FSXtoP3D to install into P3D and everything else works fine. Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers
  9. Guys - thanks for your replies. I tried running the Runway Number Update, but EGHI wasn't one of the airports affected. I think I have made some progress on the issue, but I am meddling with things I don't really understand!!I have Traffix X and UK2000 Scenery installed. The only reason I have Traffix X is because it brings different airlines into the sim which VOXATC recognises. There was an "ADFSWAP" application which came with Traffix X which I used to disable Traffix X AFD files for all airport. This meant I was able to select alternative approaches for all airports outside the UK within VOXATC. I then disabled UK2000 scenery which I have for the south of England. Following this I was able to select VOR approaches to EGHI within VOXATC.I am not sure what is going on here and how FSX decides which airport files take priority, but I was able to request VORDME approaches from the default FSX atc with UK2000 scenery installed, but not from VOXATC. I have found a temporary work around for this by opening the UK Scenery 2000 EGHI within Airport Design Editor, then importing the approaches for the default EGHI and compiling a new airport i.e. combining default approaches with addon scenery. The pain is that this takes some time to do and there are loads of airports in the UK 2000 Scenery package. Whether UK2000 have been a bit lazy with the way they handle their approaches or whether VOXATC is not picking up the detail it should I don't know, but the two packages don't seem to work together without a little human intervention.Fenric, you mentioned you thought VOXATC used the Navigraph data for approaches. I am only speculating, but from my experience above and having messed around with things a bit, I don't think it does. I have no idea why not though as the Navigraph approach data looks much more comprehensive (I have found far more approaches in there than are on the default airport files e.g. for YMAV there are no default approaches other than visual and ILS while Navigraph includes VORDME approaches too). If VOXATC uses Navigraph for SIDs / STARS then why not utilise the approaches too?
  10. How do I get assigned, or request a VOR / VORDME approach? I want to practice these approaches, but I keep getting assigned ILS approaches by ATC. If I press "0" to select my own approach, I only get a choice of either visual or ILS approaches. The particular airport I have been trying it on is Southampton (EGHI) as I know I have been assigned a VORDME approach there before. I have just upgraded to VOXATC 6, (although I'm not sure whether this is relevant as I have not tried to do this on version 5.63 which I used previously). If I open the stock airport data for EGHI on Airport Design Editor X it shows 2 different VORDME approaches in the list of approaches on the database. Am I doing something obviously wrong?I have downloaded and installed the NavData from Navigraph (although I gather this is only for SIDs / STARS anyway, not approaches). I have also re run the indexer etc but I still don't seem to be able to chose any approach other than ILS / visual. I have tried it on various other airports too with the same outcome.Any ideas gratefully received.Rich
  11. Hi,I had the same crash to desktop problem with a message saying a fatal error had occured. It kept happening when I clicked on the menu bar during flight.I found a solution which is to download a file called UIAutomationCore.dll and then to put this file into your main FSX directory.I don't know technically what this does, but every since I did it my FSX has worked fine. I downloaded it from http://www.search-dll.com/dll-files/downlo...oncore.dll.html but you might be able to get it elsewhere.Goodluck!Rich
  12. Hi,I have VOXATC which I think is a great product. However, I constantly find that when I am preparing for a departure, I contact and listen to the ATIS which says which runway is in use, but then my departure clearance will be for a completely different runway. If I check the ATIS again, it is still saying that the original runway is in use, but it clearly is not.Does anyone have any ideas? I have the same problem whether using REX or FSX real time weather.Cheers,Rich
