  1. Yes, I have already done that prior to this post. For some reason, I can't seem to find where the ".rcd" files are.A comprehensive search using the "search" function in Windows 7 reveals that the files are nowhere to be found, despite the "flight saved" message during flight.
  2. Hi guys,I have been using RC4 for about 6 months with no problems. I noticed lately that after saving during flight FSUIPC says that the flight has been saved, but in the saved flights folder there is no ".rcd" file - only the .fssave and .wx file is present. I have done a "reformat" in my laptop (due to numerous bugs) - the factory settings were restored and all data erased. Did another fresh installation of FSX, RC4 and other add-ons but this problem still persists.Any ideas on how to solve this?
  3. I just bought the PMDG747-8i extension upgrade but I can't install it. After clicking the file the installshield window briefly opens then closes immediately (the progress bas never filled).I tried running it as an administrator but problem persists. Here is a screenshot:
  4. Hi!I have installed the PMDG 747-400 on Windows7 (64-bit) OS and it works well. Be sure to right-click the installer file and select "run as administrator". If the above procedure doesn't work, try changing the compatibility mode of the installer file. Right-click the file, then select "properties" then "compatibility."Under this tab, check the box that says "run this program in compatibility mode for" then select "Windows XP" in the drop-down box.
  5. The last flight (LOWW-EHAM) was great. The plane was properly prepared (FMC, MCP) and configured for takeoff. For this flight I used the TOGA button to exert takeoff thrust (5% derated). Here you can see the climb to FL100:The cockpit displays during cruise... Thanks guys for all the ideas. Problem solved!
  6. As mysterious as the problem started, I was surprised as I'm now able to maintain a cruise and level flight. Prior to this flight I have done three things:1. Installed a REGISTERED and latest version of FSUIPC4.2. Re-calibrated my joystick.3. Run the whole flight in full screen.A new problem:I have noticed that I'm unable to make the autothrottle work. Even with the AT switch engaged, the "AT arm" indicator is absent in the PFD. I still have manual control of the throttles through my joystick. Anybody have ideas to solve this?
  7. I also have observed this in my a/c... I'm not sure though if it should like this in real life...
  8. As far as I can remember, I use Shift-F1, Shift-F2 to open the passenger doors, and so on... For the frieghter model, using such combinations would place the loading ramp, etc. Nice eye candy too...
  9. Try to check the PMDG settings tab under the item "IRS drift" - make sure it is UNCHECKED.Also in the FSX realism options menu, an item that similarly says "GYRO drift" should be UNCHECKED.
  10. Be careful though, setting the bank angle to 30 degrees also poses a risk for STALL, especially if the hard turn happens in slow speeds... (e.g. 200 KTS).
  11. Hi Guys,I've been flying the PMDG 747 for 6 months now without any problems. I've just noticed that the last three flights that I had: The plane cannot maintain cruise altitude and continues to climb beyond the altitude setting in the FMC and MCP. Situation cannot be resolved using FLCH or V/S mode. To return to the correct altitude, I have to disengage the AP and fly manually. There was no turbulence, and system failures programmed in these flights. What do I have to do to solve the problem?I'm using FSX on Windows 7 (64 bit).
  12. Hi Guys,I'm planning to purchase the 747-8i upgrade. Could you please tell me the differences among the two models? I basically know that this is an exterior/sound enhancement for it previous model. How about frame rate impact? Does it run better or the same? What difference does it make in the engine sounds? Thanks in advance for the comments.
  13. Hi Mansour!Just remember that initial descents and approaches have to be WELL PLANNED ahead of time to give the a/c enough room. The FMC is a great help in descent planning but it is NOT perfect. Also follow crossing restrictions as instructed by ATC or as published in charts. Before the initial approach fix (IAF), be sure to confirm and re-check your vRef landing speed and flap setting you intend to use. This VRef speed will be you FINAL landing speed on glideslope descent and anything below it will result to a stall. The 747 is such a great plane but flying it is not that easy for the beginning simmer.
  14. Very nice post-crash investigation report... For a minute I thought I was watching NG's Air Crash Investigation Series... hahaha! :( :( :(
  15. Had a hair-raising landing of the 747X while on a leg to China. Had a smooth approach and was caught by surprise after passing 200ft when a strong crosswind blew the aircraft right off the centerline. Decided to go-around and give it another shot using the opposite side of the runway. The same thing happened and even worse. I was forced to divert the flight to my alternate in the interest of safety, with only 2,000 lbs of fuel remaining after landing successfully.
  16. Hi all! A very nice and interesting thread to read...I'm 31 years old, working as a registered nurse in Dubai, UAE. I was fascinated in flight when I was a young kid as my home in the Philippines is close to the runway (RPMD). Everyday I used to watch planes take off and land for hours. Discovered flightsim back in FS2002 and was addicted to it ever since. For me FS was never a game but a learning and entertaining hobby. Not all people do appreciate this and most of them find it "boring." I'm anxiously waiting for the release of the 737 NGX.
  17. My 747-400F has just arrived McGuire AFB, after a leg from LPLA-KWRI. Quite a challenging take-off from Lajes AB as the runway was short and wet. :(
  18. I have noticed that the PMDG747 does not have a "divert now" function or a list of alternate airports closest to the aircraft. In case of an inflight emergency in which an immediate diversion/landing is required, how do you program such into the FMC?
  19. I agree with ronzie. FSBuild is a great flight planner which can export your flight plans into your third-party aircraft. I have the PMDG 747 and LDS 767. Plus it supports SIDs/STARs and you can add/delete waypoints if you wish. :(
  20. Nice suggestions. It is quite hard to imagine that ATC would speak your same native language as English is the international standard for ATC. Better if ATC would have the native accent recorded by different nationalities.I don't have any idea about TTS. :(
  21. Hi,I would just like to ask if there are any updates/upgrades available for RC4.Additional voice sets would be great. Thanks.
  22. I've noticed that upon final, I could not hear sounds from OM, MM & IM in airports where those are equipped, but I see an indication in the PFD that I'm passing the markers. Is there a switch in the COMM panel to activate so that I could hear it's sounds? Thanks in advance for the suggestions. :(
  23. Hi Bruce!1. If you correctly entered your flight plan through FMC or any flight planner like FSBuild, make sure that you have selected the CORRECT runways that correspond to your intended SIDs/STARs. The FMC will autotune to the ILS frequency of that runway when you are towards the approach.2. Check and VERIFY the SID/STAR spelling. One wrong letter could result to such message.3. Correct. It it wise to update the FMC data through navdata.at website since a newly purchased 747 model would contain outdated FMC data.Home these would help... :(
  24. My last flight from RKSI-RJBB comes as a surprise as my chosen runways for SID/STAR procedures are NOT in FSX?I have just updated my FMC (navdata.at) and FSBuild2 but I noticed some discrepancies during flight.Where can I get FSX updates for airports/scenery and how can I do it? Thanks... :(
