What field of view would it produce? ie" Like looking at a big screen tv? Be nice to see a video with what you are looking at when using the unit. Great idea if it replaces triple head as far as field of view goes.

Sitting about 2 feet 3 inches thus 720P looks like a no go. Appreciate the advise as I almost pulled the trigger on 3 x 32" 720P monitors. Stephen you will be happy and amazed I will be boxing my computer and getting it dun. Got a new SSD for it, arrived yesterday. Time to get that rig going. Had major stresses in the last 3 months, but things looking better!

Sometimes salesmen say what it takes to sell what's on the floor. One would think the higher the rez, better quality. But the counter statement was "human eye cannot detect the difference with TV's that are 32" and smaller". Really hard to trust salesman, but they say these things like it was an absolute truth. Especially when I mention buying 3 units.

I was told, using a LCD 32" TV 720P is as good as 1080P. Was told the human eye cannot tell the difference and buying a unit running at 1080P at 32" is a waste of money. I think he is wrong. Isn't more better? Thank you for any replies.

SSD's decrease load times. I am inpatient so I prefer using SSD's. That being said, breaking down the cost of use per day for a $300.00 drive in a two year period is 41 cents per day. Is it worth 41 cents per day for faster loading times? A three year cycle it's 28 cents per day. After that sell the drive, upgrade and get some of your money back.

A side question, for greater graphics horse power, would 2 x GTX 680 better for 3 x 27" monitors running 3d vs one card? Thank you.

Got a BB Playbook and wanting to know if it can be used as GPS / Touchscreen. Did google this but no joy. It can be used as a monitor via a HDMI cable but no info on the touch screen being used. Somehow this topic got double posted. Can the second be deleted? Thanks.

Starting to get back into flying so I am going to re do my office and have purchased items for FSX. So far, the list is: TIR, 3 x 24" Monitors, 2 x 580 GTX cards, i7 2600 Computer (trying to clone Stephen's unit), Saitek: Throttle Quadrant, X52 Pro, Combat Pedals (like these a lot more than the regular units), Switch panel. Bought 2 x Go Flight GF-T8-2 Toggle Switch / Indicator (8 x toggle switches per unit, great for Dodo sim Bell 206 start up) On the shopping list, Saitek Trim Wheel, Radio Stack. Touchscreen for GPS. A new seat with a "Butt Kicker" added. Going to hack a CH Combat Stick and turn it into a Cyclic (floor mounted) and CH Throttle into a collective. Have the plans for this and will do this summer. Eventually get 3PD when DX-11 introduced IF Dodo Bell 206 works in it and Orbx can be ported. Thinking 3D Surround, but not this year as that is expensive. This will be a great summer for flying.

WOW! Another winner in progress. I hope Orbx keeps these coming as I want to add more to my collection. I like the idea of Nature Flow Trees. I think they are easier on frames vs the older type trees. What is static flow tech?

That is great information, getting TIR working for P3D is a big plus.

I think the FSX ---> P3D migration is beginning. In time, my guess, when P3D reaches the tipping point of becoming more popular than FSX, the porting party will begin with most things from FSX. FSX in all it's glory will end up as P3D. P3D is like the Borg and will assimilate all things FSX. Orbx will continue to improve it's visuals and technology, P3D will keep improving also. FSX will eventually become a fond memory and a museum piece. FSX has had it's day and a great run. Once DX 11 and all the coding stuff is done to make P3D operate like a happy camper the Borg will become unstoppable. FSX will be kissed good bye. Resistance is futile. It is then I remove my sunglasses and expose who I really am.

No TIR? -1 P3D, +1 FSX. BTW, This is not a troll post FSX vs 3PD, but stuff like TIR not working is nice to know. I use TIR and times I do not. But flying Helicopters, prefer TIR.

Been reading bits and snippits of P3D. Thought a thread of P3D with Orbx as a review or commentary would be nice. Some focus on it by users and the benefits it is endowed with. Any tweaking necessary, textures popping up, frame fates etc, issues we all have with FSX, does P3D fix that? FSX tweaking has me worn out. P3d the same? Any pros or cons, thus the community has greater insight and encouragement to switch. I have not switched yet, so I am looking for a reasonable excuse to do so. Hopefully this thread will provide information for fence sitters like myself.

Fitsimguy, How do you like P3D, is it worth the switch? It would of cost me a few $ to switch to P3D paying for the licenses. Glad they are free, looks good on Orbx.

Lack of proper sleep has caused a mental disorder and fixation for all things dogs, flying and sunglasses. I will blame Stephen (Spirit Flyer) for the sunglasses, and the dog picture is to hide my true identity. We know how the net is. Post my true picture and my the fan mail will start rolling in. Hiding behind a sunglassed pooch is practical as my true identity is masked. Then again lack of sleep may cause an inaccurate assessment of one's self. Any way you cut the cake, it's all the same slice. My straying off topic is another casualty of sleep deprivation.

I have 2 paws in one camp, 2 paws in the other over a picket fence. I wear sunglasses so no one knows who I am. Stealth is a strong skill I developed over the years.

I am hardcore in spending hard earned money on anything related to flying. I am not hard core in knowledge but more of a hardcore stick and rudder guy. The knowledge will come as years pass and I empty my bank account on stuff for flying.

Why the topic of Flight inspires in fighting amazes me. It should be re-labled "Fight" verses "Flight". The intention of this thread, errr... what was it? Oh.. the interview! The interview was skillfully handled, and some nice information shared. Why do I feel like I have taken a mind altering drug when the posts go way off topic and get personal? Tom conducted a skillful interview and very enjoyable to read. Be nice if this could get back on track and become positive. Out of respect for the forum, why not keep things on topic and positive? The tough questions were asked and more insight was gleaned. Did I mention helicopters needed? I feel like the kid that keeps asking over and over, "Are we there yet?"

The questions were excellent, and skillfully asked. The replies a bit vague, but enough of the cat was let out of the bag to see what it looks like. A quality interview, very well done. For a VFR, short hop type flyer Flight looks promising. When they add helicopters I will try it, and from what I have seen so far most likely enjoy it, pending helo flight model. I am not big on long fights so very encouraged with the information attained via interview. Put a excellent helicopter in Flight and I think it will be a lot of fun for rotor heads.

I have 122 posts but want 123. this is post 123. True story. Was driving and seen a wallet on the road, Robie street. Got out of the van, picked it up, went to the police station and turned it in. then I went to the grocery store. Returning to my van, found another wallet. Brought it to customer service so they could return it. Did not want to bring the second wallet to the police station, as I feared they wonder what am I doing to "find" all these wallets. This is an official post 123. My next post will be post 124. My next post will be flight related. I did not have oat meal to day BTW.

This way I can sleep while flying and no one knows the better. I am dog tired.
