  1. I did some snorkeling a couple of years ago, and it was like flying some what. Like flying underwater. I would love to scuba dive but fear deep water. Actually my greatest fears are height and water. My favorite helicopter is the Sea King. No logic in my thinking what so ever.
  2. FSX and P3D are "Study Sims". Flight was a "Game". FSX a "Sim" Thus, myself, having the desire of a pilots license (but cannot due to finances, time, etc) am a wanna be "Student Pilot", therefore P3D is used as a study simulator. Me and countless thousands strapping on a plane or helo, flying the virtual skies with wanting realism. The grey area is using it as a "Game" or "Study Sim". Anyone I have met either love or hate FSX because of the learning curve. Hmmm.... Learning... Educational purposes. I say 99.99% of serious FSX'ers meet that description. Seems to me everyone here, I mean everyone takes FSX very seriously. A lot of passion, time and money spent making the flight experience realistic. I am educating myself but may never attain a real pilots license. I am off topic and ranting, I think? I stare at a blank wall as I ponder over my post........ Back on topic: DX-11 is a positive move by the looks of it, if it works a lot better without tweaking I am in.
  3. Quote from article from P3D interview "We are now updating our rendering system to support DirectX11 and development is progressing nicely. With DirectX11 support, Prepar3D can leverage features such as hardware instancing, shaders, GPU-based particle systems, tessellation and multi-threaded rendering." Unquote What is hardware instancing and multi threaded rendering? Thank you
  4. MaxiVista appears to be an interesting solution for surround visuals. If the 2nd and 3rd computers have good CPU's and GPU's, will frame rates equal those of main unit? Since the visuals are not going through the GPU of main unit, but through a network, onto a 2nd unit, I would guess the slave computer would require a good cpu/gpu to render complex scenery such as Orbx. Does adding more computers on the network to facilitate greater viewable area have an impact on FPS? My guess it puts a greater load on the CPU as the viewable area increases. Also: Since it works by undocking views, does that effect the alignment if using TIR etc? Anyone using MaxiVista, how do you find it? Thank you for any responses.
  5. Since LM appears to want to go forwards with P3D DX-11, if Payware aircraft, scenery is designed for it, will it provide better FPS and graphics?
  6. How far back do you sit from the 42? I was thinking of 3 x 32" LED or 3 x 40" LED TV's, but my viewing distance from my monitor at present is under 3'. At a range of 2.5' would it be too pixelated? My office is very small, but want 3 x something. Any advice appreciated.
  7. Great job, well done. You are an asset to the community. I Thank You!
  8. Great thread. I have P3D and 3 x 1920 x 1200 24" monitors. 2 x GTX 580 cards. Very interested in your findings as your information is important for those wanting a 3 screen set up. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Since DX-11 will only improve visual quality a bit, and FPS do not improve, why would P3D bother updating? That manpower could be spent on more useful areas of the sim that need to be addressed.
  10. My system has been running great for a while. Stephen (Spirit Flyer) helped me set my rig up when I got it last year. Funny how one forgets, then remembers stuff like that when reading a thread like this. When I think about it, his influence on how well my computer runs was a tad bit forgotten until tonight. Thanks Stephen! In life, more appreciation never hurts! A memory stirred is a memory gained. Great thread by the way.
  11. Hey Guys! Great to see you! Do you fly online anymore, use teamspeak? No more Back Country Prop Club, so where does every body go to? I should be on the computer Sat / Sun night my joints do not act up.
  12. With modern graphics cards capable of using DX 11, if P3D rewrites to use DX-11, what can be expected with Frames per second increase and over all look? All comments appreciated.
  13. Quick question, (sorry to be off topic), can you run DX-10 surround, IE: 3 x 24" monitors? Thank you.
  14. Would like to do the same. What card(s) are you using, PC specs? Very interested in 3 x 40". I imagine the immersion is far better than a 27" monitor. How far back from the main monitor do you sit? Is the image quality ok? Thank you are any advice.
  15. Westman, are you running the 3 monitors off a single Titan? I have 2 x 580's and planning to do surround, 1080 x 1200 x 3 40" Led TV's. Wondering if I should sell the 580's and go Titan? Thank you for any advice.
  16. I doupt if FSX is on the list for this Beta. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/NVIDIA-GeForce-Experience.shtml Information on this Thanks
  17. I got P3D and want to DX-10 it before trying it on FSX. DX-10 appears very promising via the positive feedback from those who converted from DX-9. When I get some free time going to give it an honest go.
  18. P3D's next update V-2.0 will be DX-11. That being said, what is the advantage of DX-11? Thanks.
  19. If X Plane had Orbx graphics that would be Xcellent X 10!
  20. A new sim, X Plane with Orbx graphics! Reality steps in, using FSX but wishing it ran like FS-9
  21. If this can be of help for FSX any chance for a "how to" step by step guide be posted, and what can be expected? Thank You.
  22. If the textures are done in a way to improve looks and perhaps framerates $190.00 is very inexpensive. I think it's a great deal.
