  1. I've been running this hobby-business for a couple years now and am eager to help folks out that are not comfortable with the LED assembly portion of the infrared head tracking set up. I basically do the hard part and all you need is the free software facetracknoIR or FreeTrack, and a modified webcam (~10$). Please let me know if there is a design you'd be interested in modifying or that would suit you better and we can talk. I've sold upwards of 75 of these, never had one returned and had every user get them up and running. Customer satisfaction and an enhanced simming experience is the focus! 2. Shes a decent plane for freeware, just a drag that you have to register, get a confirmation email, then confirm, download, receive the key and then install. Not too bad though for a single prop plane once freeware...glad I never buy stuff anyways and just wait for the freeware goodies to continue to come my way
  3. Sorry, my specs are:1GB ATI Radeon HD 45502.33/4 gHz Intel Core 2 Quad6GB ramWindows 7 SP1 64-bit4gb patch installed for the FS9.exe but I'm not sure what you mean "set the FS9.exe LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE flag via the "4 GB Patch" as described above ",...I just ran the 4 gb patch on that exe is all.Overall, I notice that the sim does not have the reload the textures as often or as frequently...which is great!, It was always disappointing to switch from a cockpit view to the outside and wait several seconds before anything would appear on the ground in detail.I'll run some more tests/variables of what is working best and what doesnt seem to matter later on tonight.
  4. Tested the first tweak/adjustment mentioned in this thread, and I have to say it really helped the blurries...I noticed I get them the most around the Houston area for some reason. Anywise...works on FS2004, Windows7 64-bit, 6gb ram, 1-gb ATI video card. The other tweaks I haven't noticed a big change however...maybe my math is wrong with the video card information. :-P
  5. I always thought windows XP will only utilize 2 GB of ram...anywise...My comp with 6 GB of ram, same vid card you're running and windows 7-64 bit still lags a tad with FS9 (10's-20's Fps with moderate settings). I should actually get FSX someday and see how it behaves or utilizes my resources for better or worse.
  6. I just discovered this gauges a couple days ago, and I wanted to see if anyone had panel.cfg's incorporating these gauges in the POSKY 757, 738 or 737c (all have VCs). They're quite nice and smooth and I just thought it would be a worthwhile mod to have ported/merged them into other VC'ed aircraft. Thanks in advance for your panel.cfg's or suggestions. So far I've gotten one to work in the 757, but the main MFD (horizontal indicator/altitude/airspeed) does not show up.
  7. Ah I see...I'm painting in FS9 and wouldn't mind trying to get a better resolution texture on a plane (Simshed C-130) for example. Would one just "enlarge the canvas" size to begin with?...if this type of thing even works with FS9 methods..
  8. Leen, thanks for the information. So if I understand right, a pixel is a set unit size, and enlarging the image/adding pixels wont necessarily fit the model right and there isnt a way of 'jamming' more pixels into a set area (10"X10") without enlarging the texture...thus leaving it up to the original developer to choose the size of texture map and resolution. Pitty...so many good models out there I'm eager to paint, but the resolution really reduces the detail level and overall appeal of the project.
  9. This is probably a bit of a noob question, but is there a way to enhance the resolution of an already made texture fitted to a model? For example, I wanted to paint some more of the KC-135 by PADG (I recent released two: Utah and Beale), but the resolution of the aircraft texture by default is quite grainy and looks poor when trying to add an insignia with a fair amount of detail. I use Gimp 2.6, DXT and thats about it. Thanks in advance.
  10. My comp started doing the same thing...I had installed MS off 2010 and did some automatic updates...running Windows 7 (64 bit)...
  11. My bad...guess I need to read more. I assume then its switching with another air photo minus planes. So the developer air brushed them out at one point?
  12. Those planes cannot be removed unless you have the original air photo and can air brush them out.
  13. Mach 1 is good...and I recommend an area 51 scenery which has the Janet terminal and lands AI Janet flights on the 19's....can't remember the name of it, but its about a 100 mb download (search simviation.com for area 51). It's a nice combo wither the mach 1 scenery.
  14. Exciting stuff. Really looking forward to some developers cranking out new products in high detail. Too bad this didn't go public several years ago! I agree with some of the previous comments and think it will be VERY interesting what happens to the FS9 market of freeware vs payware. I entered FS9 just 1-2 years ago and was quite pleased to see so much becoming freeware that was once payware. Could this stop/slow that trend or even reverse it?
  15. A very lovely aircraft indeed. And I'm sure the poor developers hear this all the time, but still a no go with a VC though?...very odd since the panel.cfg outlines VC gauge placement and the instructions discuss it...:(
  16. Second that for "HDEv2"...a nice, all inclusive texture/effect set. Plus, comon, its free!...but if you're looking to drop some money, everyone I've ever seen/encountered who has REX really enjoys it.
  17. FSD C-17...freeware...nice vc.
  18. I believe we discussed this freeware on Sim-outhouse forum, and I just gotta say, I love it. It may be the new webcam talking, but for a free, face-tracking software, it works quite well. The only thing I've noticed is that it forgets my settings about 25% of the time I use it...meaning that when I start it up, it doesn't remember the smoothing or sensitivities I've selected and saved to a separate .ini file.Otherwise, saves me the time and effort to make LED lit headgear...
  19. I hear they're both decent, but the Area 51 plane is more recent than the Alphasim model. There wouldn't happen to be a freeware one out there with a VC?
  20. I was gonna say..."Hes into FS??" Thought he went into hiding or is a total hermit now.
  21. I fancy myself as somewhat Area 51 obsessed, and found a great scenery including the Janet airways in Las Vegas.http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery93.htmSecond from the bottom...100 mb download and includes a lot of traffic. I removed most of it, left the Janets and upgraded those to the 600 model they're using now. I've also been in the process of updating that Janet terminal to have some more buildings and stand out a bit more (but not too much....) other than just being a short tower. Also, to jazz up the region, I recommend the "easter egg" in the Nellis package by MAIW...download it and go hunting.
  22. A year ago I bought a Lenovo desktop for about 400. GREAT machine (from Newegg.com). About this time of year actually...keep an eye out for deals since we're nearing the holiday season. Basically though, its an all around beefy desktop and the only things after initial purchase that had to be done were to drop in an average (35$ ATI 1gb video card) and a monitor. Came with 6 gb ram, quad core processor and windows 7. Great for everything else I do aside from FS2004 (and a little zombie shooting action via Left4Dead I and II). In short though, keep an eye out for some good lenovo (IBM) deals on newegg. I'd aim a bit higher on the processor if you have the money (i5 or i7 intel). And Dell will likely have some great deals on monitors (got a 23" last year for 168$). happy hunting.
  23. Would there happen to be something similar for ATI cards (nHancer)? I have a 1GB ATI card that boasts antialiasing (Works great with other games and programs), but FS9 refuses to give me real or nice antialiasing.
  24. Thanks for the input guys. I've already merged/generated a nice working VC for the A318 (You wouldn't believe how long it took to find the right panel configuration for that one), but just don't have the heart or expendable income to pay for aircraft. Thank you again for filling me in on the availability of the models sought for.
  25. Project opensky site >> Downloads >> Boeing >> 777 >> model packages >> and go snag the LRF with the VC for the more current one. I recently got it working with the most recent Fed Ex paint that was released on avsim. ALSO...don't forget to copy all cabin/VC textures from another aircraft so the dash lights up properly.
