  1. To learn the NGX you must go through the tutorial flight to give you a grasp on the PMDG specific options in setting up this aircraft for a flight. As regards the systems (FMC Etc) you will soon find that there is a flow involved and as you get to understand what you are doing it will become clearer with each flight.Short answer do the tutorial more than once, read the forums and ask questions and dont, dont, dont give up.Darryl Critchley
  2. This happened to me as well and the procedure for landing and rollout is as follows.1)Set autobrakes and land.2) At 70Kts double tap the period key (I dont have rudder pedals).3) Manually turn autobrakes off and you will find that the brakes now work correctly. This has worked for me everytime.Hope this helpsDarryl Critchley
  3. Next time you see them ask them to give PMDG a call..........maybe they can help. Darryl Critchley
  4. Wonderful work Alex. I cant think of a more fitting song to evoke the feelings and emotions we feel when flying/simming.Your comment about escapism was spot on, isn't it great to sit in front of your computer and have the day to day stresses fade away for a couple of hours. Thanks for sharing.Darryl Critchley
  5. Just completed a flight with carbon brakes and same result, loss of brakes after landing and rollout. Autobraking works and parking brake works but pressing period key does nothing (no red brake indication on screen lower left). Brake temps were 1.7 and still white. Taxi back to ramp involves frequent applications of the parking brake which does give the passengers a bit of a rough ride, but, oh well.....Also checked the failures page on CDU, there were none.At least I can finally fly and complete a flight for which I am very thankful there are just a few little niggles left to iron out. 6. Will give that a go when I can, thanks for the suggestion. I had seen that in another post but I kind of dismissed it because I thought it must be a software issue as when I try to apply the brakes after rollout I dont even get the FSX red brake indication on the lower left of the screen. Thanks for replying and I will try that tonight.Darryl Critchley
  7. I wonder if anyone has got to the bottom of this problem. I see a few other posts about it but no solutions as yet.The problem arises after a landing with autobrakes on, I reverse thrust and at 60 - 70 kts I set throttle to idle and reset autobrakes and after that my brakes wont work. I use the period key for the brakes and dont have them mapped to any other device and when I check the failures page it states that there are none.I should add that the parking brake combination of cnrt + period key does still work and that the brakes work fine while taxing for departure.I am using a Toshiba Laptop, core two duo 2.4,4 gb ram, ati 512m Gpu.Any suggestions?ThanksDarryl Critchley
  8. Thanks Allen I'll have a look at that when I next get a chance to fly.To be honest if having the first officers guages off gives me any benefit then i will leave them off it doesn't worry me at all. Thanks for the tip, Darryl Critchley
  9. I had my first successful flight with the NGX last night after installing HF4 since purchasing 4-6 weeks ago. While successful it was not without problems, my flight officers guages were blank and after landing, using autobrakes and Rev Thrust once coming back to idle and releasing the autobrake I then had no brakes (period key) however the parking brake did work.Neither problems were show stoppers and I was very pleased to complete a flight at last.I don't know what my FPS was and I don't really care, the flight was very smooth on my 4year old Toshiba Laptop thats all I care about. Very enjoyable. Roll on SP1 Darryl Critchley
  10. I also own and like both products but I am forced to fly only the Ifly for the moment due to the instability of the NGX. I am not knocking the NGX as I run FSX on a toshiba laptop and the NGX pushes it a bit past its limits while the Ifly performs just fine.I do realise however that the PMDG NGX is a far superior product and I am eagerly awaiting the SP in the hopes that I will be able to complete a flight without problems, if that does come to pass I think the Ifly will probably start to gather (virtual) dust.Darryl Critchley.
  11. Hey Dennis I'm not sure that what you had was one of the dreaded panel freezes. I do on occasion get the "busy" cursor and the grayed out screen whilst my processor catches up, but the panel freeze is different in that occasionally (every flight for me) fsx seems to keep going but my main panel, cdu,.. mcp etc stop working. Sometimes it has been several seconds before I realise that there is a problem.Hope a fix is coming soon.Darryl Critchley
  12. When trying to start the engines make sure you have turned off both left and right packs. I believe this is to ensure there is enough air available from the APU to turn the engines at a sufficient rate for starting.Hope this helps. Darryl Critchley
  13. The 737, will not, be your, christmas present, because it, is going to Mexico
  14. Far out in front is the Queen.Far out the back is the Queen LCF. (looks like the queen with bloat. No way that could be pretty)Fun thread to follow.RegardsDarryl Critchley
