747-400 X lot of technical problems
blocks_off replied to Nico66's topic in PMDG 747-400 (Legacy Versions)
Hi, I have had similar problems, intially blaming my ATI card. The solution was that my bufferpools value was too high and was causing graphics corruption. Maybe this is an option for you to try? Carl Beeby -
Looking for a replay addon that works with the NGX
blocks_off replied to Sorux123's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
Indeed - if you like replaying from any external view (e.g. watching your excellent landing from tower :) ) you may need to switch on the landing lights etc (assuming you switched them off before replaying) Enjoy! Carl Beeby -

Hi, A few of mine. Departing Menorca Circle to land at Corfu Late evening departing Crete Leaving Paphos Carl Beeby -
Hi All,Anyone had this before? (Please see attached)Basically my flight froze, none of the flights that I saved in the air will work (the initialisation counts down to 0 and then i get an app hang)I reloaded the saved flights (last one saved before takeoff) and it would seem the entire state/situation is corrupt as the FO keeps saying V1...V1...V1...V1...V1... in a way that only my 12 year would think funny :LMAO:So ... accepting it's corrupt... just wonder if anyone has seen this? Asking as this seems more frequent now post SP1C than before - i.e. only had one in the past...ThanksCarl Beeby

Looking forward to this one!Carl Beeby

GCXO-EFHK: long flight/great experience
blocks_off replied to coa1117's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
Sounds like a nice route - longest so far for me in the NGX is EGCC - HESH and return in the same day.Heading that way myself tomorrow - EGNT GCTS.Enjoy!Carl Beeby -
Before the latest service pack - or even the one previously (can't recall) - mine behaved like that. They work perfectly now (SP 1b)ThanksCarl Beeby

Speeding up sim - warp factor - advisable in the NGX?
blocks_off replied to Thunderbird8's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
Hi,Occasionally x2 above 10000ft to cruise and then x4 in cruise, back to x2 for decent to 10000ft then resume normal speed (or snails pace as it feels after x2 & x4 !).No issues.CheersCarl Beeby -
A wake-up call to Robert because of the SDK
blocks_off replied to bigfoot454's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I don't normally.....You know, in the time that PMDG released their NGX, I've seen two people younger than me die unexpectedly....Fly the NGX if you wish and whilst you're at it, let PMDG and others here enjoy their lives without day in, day out, having to be audience to people like you (who I hope are healthy and remain so) making an unnecessary comment about not having the SDK.Enjoy what you have.... Your comments about what PMDG have previously wrote would sound trivial to some people on this planet. You don't have an SDK.... I don't think anyones life is physically sufferring because of this.Carl Beeby -
I understand now!ThanksCarl

Appreciate the post and the information - read that it's released on Monday (19th) though?Pls disregardThanksCarl Beeby

Blue Screens
blocks_off replied to blocks_off's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
JimWill take a look at those too - out of interest, did use a Windows tool to establish the stability of your RAM - e.g., happy to fly the same FSX route, but will not always crash so just wondering if you made use of any other stress testing utils?Just wondering too what you would change first, e.g., voltage by itself, RAM timings etc.?ThanksCarl -
Blue Screens
blocks_off replied to blocks_off's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etc
OK thanks again for looking Just interested in this Jim as I think (as I outlined in the OP) that the lowest voltage the board runs is 1.6v yet these sticks are designed (standard speeds) for 1.5v.Although RAM is running at defaults now, I have tried changing the speeds / voltage in the past and when done so, perhaps made the problem worse. So on that basis, wonder if it is being caused by RAM....RegardsCarl -

HiThanks for reply, here is a preview of the BSOD codes - happy to upload the files if you wish. Adding to the 1st post, memtest ran for 12 hours no problems.RegardsCarl -
Hi,Just looking for some input into this problem please...It's fair to say that since being built my PC regularly suffers from blue screens / lockups. I've learnt to live with it.I once borrowed an nVidia card (can't remember specs) but during testing (approx 2 weeks) problems were never encountered. However this was when I was running XP. Strangely after testing the nVidia and reinstalling the ATI, the problems became liveable (i.e. not very frequent). The release of the new 737 has made my problems slightly worse. Now, to be very clear, I am not saying there is anything wrong with the 737 - I suspect the load it places on my machine, stresses the machine. Again, not a fault of the 737.Also, I can make long flights using the PC. e.g. yesterday was 2 sectors (in the 737) - 4:45 and 5:45 using the same plane / situation. The PC never gave me any problems.Additionally I have flown 15 hour routes in the 747 / 10 hours in the 767 without any problems. So a variety of aircraft, with no problems.Certain things are just odd though, e.g. within 2 mins in the sim yesterday (before the 4:45 and 5:45 sectors & from cold), it had blue screened twice!Problems are not limited to FSX.... e.g. once backing up (to USB ext drive), caused a blue screen.Quite often, BSODs are very soon after power on / very early into a flight.Specs are in the signature.Temps as far as I can see are fine - highest cpu temp is 65 degrees c, but tends to be around 60 c.GPU was typically around 56 - 59 degress c.As far as drivers go, the graphics is upto date. Looking around for a chipset driver though (from GigaBytes web site) links me to just an old ATI (video driver) driver. Not sure if a driver exists?!Windows updates are up to date.Latest BIOS applied F8cAlthough I am now running Windows 7, I had similar lock ups on windows XP.One thing that has always struck me as odd, (i only found this out after buying the components) is that the RAM voltage runs at a minimum of 1.6v The Kingston RAM itself requires 1.5v Would this cause problems?Back to FSX, I think my bufferpools setting was originally incorrect. It was set to around 700 MB. I am no longer using bufferpools (usepools=0). By doing so, I have eliminated some odd graphics problems. Too early to say yet, but seems to have improved stability. (can add tweaks back at another time). Also, I am avoiding looking at outside views (of the plane) when flying - may help? I replay afterwards now (fsrecorder recenlty installed).Any help greatly appreciated. PC is just over 2 years old now. No overclocking has been attempted, BIOS runs with default settings. Thanks for reading,Carl Beeby

I hope not !But would suspect it is?Carl

Thanks both..... but no active failures at all.I also have the wear and tear switched off too.Carl

HI All,I feel like I might have made this problem myself. On the ground EGCC happily prep'ing for the flight to LEAM, I keyed in my fuel - 8.5 tons needed, so of course I keyed in 8 and then things went quiet etc. Yes, it loaded 8kgs which doesn't go far! doh!So try a lot of things here (after loading 8500 kgs), re-reading the start procedure, searching here.... nothing.Battery onStandby pwr auto Apu StartHave i missed something? I continued the prep / engine start by using grd pwr and engine start truck, but had to do the same in LEAM.On the way home now (back to EGCC), but just wondering if there are any tips?If not, looks like we'll be flying G-GDFD to HESH tomorrow as G-CELI could be in the hanger!ThanksCarl Beeby
-
I just want to share with you, and apologies if you know about it, FSRecorder - I feel like I should have known about before, yet I've only just discovered it! But with that, you can replay as often as you like... even using different liveries etc.Carl Beeby
-
@skybus - that is how they modelled it, I.e., tat and fuel temp rarely differ.@pschlute - I would question why you would expect fuel temp to equal tat. Maybe after several hours, yes. But if you put a bottle of room temperature drink into your freezer at home, it will take a while to chill and then freeze?Carl Beeby
-
And just to add, are you confirming the V-Speeds (if not manually entering into FMC)RegardsCarl Beeby
-
Hi Robert,Thanks for your reply. Except for item (2) I've done the rest - will keep an eye on the temp. Also focussing on my use of bufferpools at the moment.RegardsCarl
