  1. Here you go Jim:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHawaii Flight Simulator
  2. Hi Adib There are a couple of good tutorials at this website: http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/forum/51-ozx-design-guides-and-tutorials/ The one about making country strips provides useful information on how to make photoreal ground textures into scenery. One of the programs it mentions using is SBuilderX which is a free program which will help with some aspects of scenery making. There is also a GMAX modelling tutorial which will help with making 3D objects for FSX. The thing you will need to keep in mind with scenery design is that you will need lots of little tools to do particular jobs. There is no one program that does everything. The good thing is that most of these tools are free. One payware tool I would recommed though is Instant Scenery 2. It is the easiest way to add the 3D objects you make into the FSX world as it allows you to place objects within FSX.
  3. If you have enough money you can do anything. You're going to need some hardware and software to interface between the PC and the real world gauges as you can't just plug the gauges into your PC. Here are a couple of websites Google popped up which may help you in your endeavour. http://www.simpits.org/simpits/ http://www.fscockpit.com/ The fscockpit one has a nice pic which gives a good overview of what you are up against.
  4. 'twill be the colour of magic. And as for taste? Well, like I said in the "Delivery" forum: installation via suppository. Do you really want to taste something that is going to be stuck up your butt?
  5. I'm thinking the complete opposite: installation via suppository
  6. Try a google search for 737-200F, 737-300F and 737-400F. That will show up some pics of some freighters. Can't say whether these were actually manufactured by Boeing as freighters or normal passenger liners converted by airlines.
  7. Yes you can. you will need to determine the .fx file used to create the light. Upon the aircraft.cfg file for the aircraft in question (look in your FSX/Simobjects/airplanes/{aircraft name} folder). Right click on the aircraft.cfg and select open with... and open with notepad. Scroll down to the lights section and look for the light for the VC. In the example below it is light.7 [LIGHTS]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landinglight.0 = 3, -6.81, -19.30, 1.17, fx_navred ,light.1 = 3, -6.82, 19.29, 1.17, fx_navgre ,light.2 = 3, -25.33, 0.01, 1.08, fx_navwhi ,light.3 = 2, -6.48, -19.04, 1.17, fx_strobe ,light.4 = 2, -6.48, 19.04, 1.17, fx_strobe ,light.5 = 1, -24.20, 0.00, 6.44, fx_beacon ,light.6 = 2, -7.52, 0.01, -1.28, fx_strobe ,light.7 = 4, -8.30, 0.00, 2.70, fx_vclight, Note the fx file name (fx_vclight in the example above) Go to your FSX/effects folder and locate the fx file name. Make a backup copy of it in case you stuff up the next step. Open the original file by again right clicking and selecting open with... notepad. Using fx_vclight as an example we look for the following: [ParticleAttributes.0]Blend Mode=2Texture=fx_2.bmpBounce=0.00Color Start=100, 100, 100, 1Color End=180, 140, 100, 0Jitter Distance=0.00Jitter Time=0.00uv1=0.00, 0.00uv2=0.01, 0.01X Scale Goal=0.00Y Scale Goal=0.00Z Scale Goal=0.00Extrude Length=0.00Extrude Pitch Max=0.00Extrude Heading Max=0.00 Start messing about with the colour start and colour end values. From memory I think they are red, green, blue values in order. You can enter a value from 0 to 255. Save the file and restart FSX. Alternatively, you can change the filename in the aircraft.cfg so that instead of pointing to the nasty red light it points to a nice white light. fx_vclight is the default vc light and if you like that then all you would need to do would be to change the filename called by the aircraft.cfg.
  8. Yes Etienne But landing lights use bone animations to adjust the size of the polygons, the higher you go the larger than ground splash will be. The animation of these polygons is the more usually rotate/translate animation. I suspect that MCX doesn't draw bones animation as I've never been able to see the landing light polys in other aircraft mdls I've examined (such as the Lotus L-39 and AirbusX).
  9. Did a bit more research this morning. MCX can display which texture is mapped to which polygon and the 3 biggest polygons are mapped to the PMDG_737NGX_Stobe_Flash_Lovis texture. Some of the other vertical polys there are mapped to various other colours such as navred and navgreen and white. As you step through the animation keyframes these polys move all over the place. I assume PMDG cleverly rotates them according to your viewpoint so they are always facing the viewer. As an example, the red highlighted poly in the pic attached shows where texture PMDG_737NGX_white is mapped.
  10. This pic of the 737-800 exterior model in model convertor X may help explain why.
  11. Re Al's old sig. What about snakes on a plane? More chance of a snake making a home in the wheel well when it is parked outside.
  12. I beg your pardon. I hope that is a language problem cause if not it is pretty damn rude.
  13. Cool!! That's the day after my birthday :)
  14. Sometimes my stick will stop working. I don't think it is the best connection ever made and sometimes I find that I need to unplug and replug the cable coming out of the throttle (and going into the stick) to get the connection working better. It may be worthwhile replacing the cable (or checking it with a multimeter). It appears to be a standard 6 pin din male to male cable and a google search should be able to track one down for you (or check with Saitek to make sure you get the right cable).
  15. Before messing about with controls and extra software it is a good idea to know if the behaviour you are experiencing is actually abnormal. The best way to do this is to quantify your statements with some numbers. For example, I tried the default CRJ (74,420lbs weight), floored the throttles and the aircraft takes of by itself at 250kts (no flaps). "Climbs" to an eventual nose up attitude of 55 deg and at 6300ft the aircraft stalls with the airspeed at 75kts. Recovery from the stall and at 200kts (still with the throttles maxed out here) the aircraft will restart it's "climb".
  16. Oh look, there's something new on the MS Flight website. Time to rehash the old rejigged FSX versus brand new engine for Flight discussion.
  17. Second picture: Notice the long shadows cast by the landing gear. I think that light is coming from the setting sun rather than terminal buildings although the overall scene is pretty dark if the sun is still up (casting those wheel shadows).
  18. I wonder. Did the MS Flight team go to Hawaii for their vacation?
  19. Really? I always thought they had to make them smaller so they would fit down my telephone line when I download them (or to get them onto the CD).
  20. Are the sound files stereo or mono? I think sound cones only work with mono files.
  21. Perhaps yours is too big? When it appears in your post it is a lot larger than it appears as your avatar. Maybe it was automatically resized when you attached it and it lost it's animation (ie when it was automatically resized on the first frame was kept).
  22. The stand number is part of the addon scenery that those people making the videos have. You could take a note of the gate that you select when you start your flight in FSX (unless you are starting on the runway and then slewing to the gate before connecting to vatsim) You would be better off finding an airport chart (for your departure as well as your destination airports). This will list the gates and their numbers. You can then refer to this when on Vatsim. You're chart will also show the taxiways which you will need to know when the controller gives you your taxiway instructions.
