  1. Glad you cured it. I would have wondered because since changing over to Win7 my OOMs went away forever. About the other dispute (and sorry that I wasn't able to resist just one little moment): This discussion has to pop up from time to time, just like a refreshing thunderstorm. Afterwards, the air is clean and fresh here in FS9ers' country again.
  2. Where is the misinformation in Pauls post? (don't take it personal...) I can only report my own experience: In the late times of WinXP/32 bit being supported, I suddenly experienced amassed OOMs. I already had a very "customized" FS2004 with more than 700 entries in Scenery.cfg. Strange enough, after deinstalling some of them, the OOMs were gone. I then changed to Win7/64bit and never experienced an OOM again. Of all my add-ons, only two didn't work anymore under Win7 (Dreamfleet 727 and FSHotSFX). I have no knowledge and/or experience with Win10 or Win8, but Win7 improved my flightsimming experience vastly and made way for further enhancing of my Sim. But, by the way, and this is where I agree with gwillmot and the OP, FS2004 is no "sad scenario"; at least not if it is brought up to what we FS9ers call a FS9.75 or FS9.X. A look into the screenshots section will prove it.
  3. Jon and Bernd, many thanks for your comments. Southern Caucasus evenings are indeed wonderful. It's a great area, not only for flying.
  4. Mitch, I share your enthusiasm for FS9Evo - even without 3D lighting. Regarding, these, I can only say that other users experience similar effects, so it seems not to be a problem with my system alone. However, as I mostly fly at day, I love the look of my FS9. If you allow, here is the link to one of my screenshot topics which shows Evo from its best side: http://www.avsim.com/topic/471986-with-the-bonanza-along-the-caucasus/ I hope you like it. Cheers!
  5. Very impressive. Here are some shots from my setting at first, then a view over Seattle from stock KSEA with and without 3D lights. With 3D lights, day and night: Without lights, day and night: Normally I have FPS limited to 30. I just wanted to show how significant the FPS drops are. Strange enough, this effect is much more significant at day. My specs btw: CPU Athlon II X2 260 3.2 GHz overclocked to 3.8 GHz, GPU: AMD Radeon HD7700 RAM: 4 GByte. Perhaps this is the problem. Regards, Harald
  6. I'll look if I have some shots from my tests. Read more about the problem here: http://www.avsim.com/topic/428585-new-autogen-controlled-lights/ I never had any FPS problems with my system, which has slightly worse performance than yours. It seems only dependent on the 3D light objects and their cumulation in big agglomerations. However, I have deactivated the lights until a solution, and I love my FS9's look nevertheless. For my taste, the tropics look particularly well.
  7. Mitch, wonderful pictures. Welcome to the FS9Evo world! By the way, it's nice that 3D night lighting works well for you; some users experience significant FPS drop with them. But a solution is under work - and Evo looks so well at day, too.
  8. Chris, this is a really exciting flight. I once made a Rwy 15 approach with a B727. As far as I remember (and I don't know if this has any similarity to r/w procedures) I flew towards the Paro VOR, then parallel to Rwy 33, then I made a narrow turn to the right, descended steep into the valley (found the correct valley), and then somehow the runway appeared just in front of my plane. What a great destination.
  9. May I ask where these great pictures were shot? Wallis, Switzerland? Or rather Inn valley, Austria?
  10. Thanks! Thanks, me too! Thanks HL. Yes, at this classic route Temuco-Puerto Montt, the volcanoes stand there like a pearl chain. Llaima - Sollipulli - Villarrica - Quetrupillán - Lanín (at Argentinian territory) - Choshuenco - Puyehue - Osorno - Puntiagudo - Calbuco. If you take a little loop to south, Yates, Hornopirén, Chaitén will follow. I made this trip by car nine years ago, it was magnificent. Imagine you drive through a landscape like in northern Switzerland, and then suddenly a volcano stands there and smokes at day and lights red at night... for an European, this is sometimes quite surreal... But the best thing: I flew from Santiago to Temuco as passenger of a B737-200, built 1979 - just great. I wish I could get there just another time.
  11. Yes... you have summarized my whole post. Thanks Chris!
  12. Ah, the Southern Summer! While it's cold and humid in Europe, our hobby gives us the opportunity to enjoy warm and bright days at the other side of the world - I came to Chile with my DC-6 - and memories of a real world trip there... I choose an old but reliable C 185 for my trip: Evening below Lonquimay Volcano Can't resist still to use Temuco's old Maquehe airport. Volcán Llaima in the background Volcán Llaima in doubtful weather Cervecería Kunstmann ("Das gute Bier") near Valdivia Near Chaitén El Tepual airport, Puerto Montt Volcanoes, volcanoes... Volcán Llaima Andes in the evening - landing at Rancagua
  13. I like the mountain ranges at the horizon at the last four pictures. And it's always a joy to see a V-tailed Bonanza in action. Favourite GA plane... Thanks and regards Harald
  14. Mufaldinho, again exciting shots from rarely seen, but also exciting destinations. Btw, I like your Avatar. LAN Chile gave me some of my best real world flying experiences (as passenger of course). Regards,
  15. Happy new year to all Avsim mates! The IVAO RU link to Nizhnevartovsk has changed, indeed: http://files.ivaoru.org/sceneries/USNN_fs2004.zip Have fun and myahkiye posadki!
  16. Hi Martin, I had Matthew Ministry's freeware before. It was very good, but lacked the new terminal. By the way, again a new FS9 scenery by one of the most active FS9 developers: Fernando de Noronha by TropicalSIm. I bought it and it has the usual good TSim standard. So cool that I'm en route in Latin America these days.
  17. Thanks Bernd! Und frohe Weihnachten auch für Dich! So you made it over the Julier- and Malojapass and then over the ridge... My compliments!
  18. Merry Christmas, Ed. No problem. Have enjoyable holidays and take all the time you need.
  19. Ed, great winter shot. You surely proposed a toast with a good local Vodka to your brave 727. I hope there will once be a video of this flight? Regards, Harald
  20. Bernd, this was surely your flight of the year. Thanks for posting and a heartily "Horrido" from the Messerschmitt Friends of Dresden! Can you specify your way over (or through) the Alps? Some pictures look like Passo San Bernardino... others like Lucmagn..., I'm not sure...
  21. Bernd, this is flying with style, indeed; I like the copilot seat's upholstery. And it would be so nice to have a sound track beside these great pictures.
  22. Many thanks, WingZ! I bought the scenery now. Looks well, but a little bit "sterile". The new central terminal could have been modelled with more attention, while the old terminals look quite good. FPS mostly hold 30 (which is my limit), but in certain areas they drop suddenly and go up again. I didn't investigate if this may depend on other sceneries installed in vicinity. Ground textures are a little blurry, but the biggest problem is that they don't fit well with FS9Evo textures and my landclass for this area. At Simmarket, the scenery is rated with three stars, while my rating would be between four stars for overall impression and two stars for details. The price of 17.99 EUR without taxes seems quite fair, while the German V.A.T. makes it a little overpriced. AES is requested already. I didn't check afcad functionality and reality truth yet; this will happen when I'm flying in this area next time.
