  1. It's a shame that it wasn't built for duel control in multi-play mode, as it would be an excellent aircraft for pilot/co-pilot opp.
  2. Brindabella is another airline currently using the J41 (according to their web site) www.brindabellaairlines.com.au/flying-with-us/fleet The bonus is that PMDG have the colours for Brindabella.
  3. I can confirm that my J41 works like you said Gregg (and Frank). I had never tried it that way before. To me, that makes it much easier when using the AP to climb/descend as you can take a little longer to select the required altitude before pressing ALTSEL. So the OP must surely have a local problem with his setup ... unless we're missing something :Nerd: Hope you get it sorted Craig.
  4. Gregg and Frank - that method would make sense if you did not want to capture an altitude. I will try that out for myself. So, maybe this AP is like the one on the C337, where the AP captures the current climb/decent rate when you select the AP to "ON" and only changes when you use the thumb wheel ???
  5. G'day Craig. In your screen shot, I don't see the ALTSEL enabled. Is that correct? The format for any vertical change with the AP is: First select your desired altitude, then press the ALTSEL button, then select either V/S or IAS as your prefered mode, then use the AP trim wheel to select the desired rate of V/S or IAS. I made this mistake (again) this afternoon and my PAX complained all the way down ;-)

  7. G'day Lennert. You can use the "range" buttons on the non-functional "WX-Radar" bezel to zoom the EHSI out so that you can "see" the waypoints you programmed into the FMS, upto the max zoom distance of the EHSI. -- See page 85 of the "PMDG_J41_PILOT_TUTORIAL.PDF". Is that any good to you?
  8. Just like Kyle said : "Most landings are made by hand, contrary to the sim ..." I've been watching a couple of the "World Air Routes" DVDs that I bought, where you get to watch how airline pilots go about their business in the flight deck, and I was really surprised at how many "hands-on" approaches/landings they performed. In fact, one thing I did notice, was that every landing was performed by hand, even though some of the landing were made using the ILS. So, practising manual landing is the way to go, to "simulate" the real flights. Besides, the J41 is a joy to fly by hand, I reckon. Happy landing ....
  9. I think that I read somewhere that FS2Crew over-writes many of the sound files of the J41. Maybe that's why you get no call-out.
  10. G'day 'n2649c'. Thanks for your reply. Landing lights now "work" (from the switch too). Not sure what the problem was, but I was forced to try an "Install DVD - Repair" of FSX last night as it was 'hanging' at the splash screen after installing some new scenery. I found out (3 hours of trying different fixes) the 'hang' was being caused by a corrupt 'logbook' - fixed that with "fsxlogrecovery11". So whatever was stopping my C337H landing light from illuminating the runway, it is now fixed.
  11. Hi everyone. I'm just wondering if anybody has been able to get the landing light on the C337H to "work" - that is, to illuminate the runway / ground when coming in to land? It seems pointless to me to have such a nice VC lighting system, but not be able to do any night work with it. I have tried landing at a few GA airports at night, and most are nearly impossible to land at safely without a working landing light. You are really just guessing at where there touchdown point is. Thanks guys. Cheers -- Pete.
  12. All Bill has "confirmed" is that he has not 'ported' his aircraft successfully as yet. Russ said that his C337H did not CTD with the original sound set. A successful port, wouldn't you agree? On another FS forum, others have said that they have successfully ported their Carenado aircraft to P3D ( I have not yet switched to P3D as I'm happy with FSX for the time being). Work-arounds need to be found at the moment for moving to P3D, so press on guys.
  13. I agree with "Bank_Angle" in that you need to turn off "ignore crashes". I "lost" this sweet bird a couple of times before I realized that's what was needed. The PMDG J41 seems to have a very narrow margin where it comes to overspeed. Twice I watched as the airspeed only just crept into the red zone and before I could reduce power - BAM ! She broke up. PAX were most unhappy I can tell you. They screamed at me "all the way down" :LMAO: I didn't have REX then, so I can't blame it. But after switching "ignore crashes" to 'off', no more break-ups. Still need to watch the speed of course. Happy flights.
  14. Hi Lee. The turbo mods worked fine for me. Here is what I did, following suggestions from this forum. [piston_engine] power_scalar= 1.0 //Piston power scalar cylinder_displacement= 60 //Cubic inches per cylinder 60 compression_ratio= 8.5 //Compression ratio number_of_cylinders= 6 //Number of cylinders. max_rated_rpm= 2800 //Max rated RPM max_rated_hp= 250.0 //Max rated HP fuel_metering_type= 0 //0=Fuel Injected, 1=Gravity Carburetor, 2=Aerobatic Carburetor cooling_type= 0 //0=Cooling type Air, 1=Cooling type Liquid normalized_starter_torque= 0.3 //Starter torque factor turbocharged= 1 //Is it turbocharged? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE max_design_mp= 37 //Max design manifold pressure, (inHg) min_design_mp= 4 //Min design manifold pressure, (inHg) critical_altitude= 20000.0 //Altitude to which the turbocharger will provide max design manifold pressure (feet) emergency_boost_type= 0 emergency_boost_mp_offset= 0.0 emergency_boost_gain_offset= 0.0 fuel_air_auto_mixture= 0 //Automixture available? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE auto_ignition= 0 //Auto-Ignition available? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE max_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar= 1 //Scalar on maximum RPM mechanical efficiency idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar= 1 //Scalar on idle RPM mechanical efficiency max_rpm_friction_scalar= 1 //Scalar on maximum RPM friction idle_rpm_friction_scalar= 1 //Scalar on idle RPM friction number_of_magnetos= 2 Check what your aircraft.cfg file has and compare with the above. The C337H really scoots along with the "Turbo" bolted in
  15. Well, the "Icing" problem just bit me tonight. I was cruising at 9000ft, in cloud, when the power drained away to almost zero, then it came back all on its own. I checked the mixtures - A-OK. I thought that I must have had a "failure" set to 'on', but none enabled. Cruised for another 10 or so mins, and the power slowly sank again. This time I had to cancel IFR and descend. Got it re-lit at 5000ft. Found an 'alternate' and put her down. Thanks to the 'mechanics' at this forum, I now know what the "problem" was. Pitty there was no mention of it in the "AOM" :Waiting: Thanks guys for your help :Applause: Now to go find my PAX and head off again. BTW: does this 'icing' problem still rear its ugly head when you "install" the Turbo?
  16. What did you say ??? Sorry !!! I can't hear you over those TPE331s ... Please speak a little louder :LMAO:
  17. The small vertical lever to the front of the circuit breaker panel that is next to the pilot's left leg. Up = OFF : Down = SET It works with the default FSX keyboard assignment also.
  18. Accu-Feel working OK for me with the stock Carenado sound set. I have yet to do any tuning of Accu-Feel with the C337H but I do like the extra sound effects it give you.
  19. If you want to have the J41 in a "ready to fly" setup, the best thing that I can suggest to do is to start with a cold and dark J41, then go through the correct procedure to get it ready for taxi, then save the flight. The next time you want to just go fly, after starting FSX with the default aircraft, load that saved flight, and go fly. That way you will know that it is configured correctly a for flight. I have one saved like this "ready to go" for practicing ILS and landing procedures, though mine is already airbourne and at 4000ft.The J41 was programmed as a procedural aircraft, and as as such, needs to be setup correctly to "just go and fly".And yes, the instruments and avionics will come alive very quickly after and engine start, but only if you have already had the Avionics Masters on and waited for the system to be aligned before the engine start procedure, such as while doing your "checks". But, the first time the Avionics Masters are switched on, it should take the whole 3 mins. It's in the AOM.Happy flights ....
  20. Hello Werner. The PMDG_J41_PILOT_TUTORIAL.pdf on page 19 states: ".. you will likely notice that the AHRS is not aligned and as such you have no information displaying on your Electronic Attitude Director Indicator (EADI) or your Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicator (EHSI) .... AHRS alignment takes 180 seconds."So, you are not having any trouble with the instruments. They are programmed to take that long to start up, just like the "Real" J41.If you would like to follow the "PMDG tutorial" that comes with the PMDG J41, may I suggest that you try to load the PMDG J41 Tutorial Flight by double click on the icon in your "Libraries > Documents > Flight Simulator X files" folder. I always find that the best way to start a flight in the PMDG J41 when learning with the tutorial.Happy flights.Pete.
  21. Another thing to try, assuming that you are using "Acceleration", is to do a "repair" with the "Acceleration" installer, just to rule out any problems there.
  22. Hi Bert. I have not tried this as yet as I have only just purchased the C337 last Monday, but you could try this out :>> http://forum.avsim.net/topic/351061-a-keyboard-key-for-de-vs-wheel/ <<I have not even tried it in the J41 either. I will try it at some stage though as I do have two buttons free.I hope this helps.Cheers ... Pete.
  23. G'day everyone. I took the advice given here to email the support team and I also received the update via an email reply.Cheers.Pete.
  24. Hi Jia-Hsing Fu. Did you have a look at the "PMDG J41 Pilot Tutorial" on Page 73 : Advanced Takeoff Operations? The Captain talks about it there. Is that what you are looking for?Cheers -- Pete.
