JS-4100 Radar Altimeter?
Flyboy_Pete replied to tacannav's topic in PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)
Isn't the adjustment knob found on smaller aircrafts RA just to be able to set the bug for an accurate decision height? What else would you need to adjust? The RA is not dependant on BARO like the main ALT, is it? -
Are you starting FSX with all the "out-of-the-box" default settings in the "Free Flight" section? At first I had loads of problems with the J41 because I had saved one of my own flights and marked it as "default flight", and that was loading in the "Free Flight" screen from then on. Since going back to the original settings in "Free Flight", the J41 never gives me trouble. I think that's mentioned in the tutorial somewhere. I have one of my flights in the J41 saved as "up-in-the-air", so that I can quickly brush up on landings or test out things that I have not tried before. Each time that I load it, I immediately have to check the flight config of the J41, such as setting up the auto pilot etc. but it always settles down with no burned engines or nasty stuff like that. Make sure that you set your "Condition Levers" to "Full-Forward" before you load the saved flight, as the J41 does not like anything less than 96% on the RPMs, which the "Condition Levers" (prop lever if you are using a throttle quadrant) control. You will definitely BURN your engines if you are in "Taxi" mode on the "Condition Levers" while in flight.

How introduce custom points in fmc?
Flyboy_Pete replied to Japo32's topic in PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)
Thanks for that Bart. I just "Googled" it, and it came up #8. Never thought of looking before. Looks very interesting. We might "find" some more features that are implimented. The "Improved" model is very nice too. I wonder if we will get the "upgrade" in the J41 ??  .... [ just kidding! ] -
G'day J41 "People" B) I have recently bought myself a Saitek Yoke and Throttle Quadrant, and it sure seems a better controller than a 'stick' for flying the J41 with, especially the longer travel you get with the levers, makes adjusting those Garrets an easier task. I have set the throttle lever to engage F2 when I pull the lever past idle (it has a button there for those that don't know), but as mentioned in a previous post, I just get "Full Reverse" and then a nasty jump into the "forward thrust' range when returning the lever to idle. Would the program 'FSUIPC' be of any help with this situation? What works for you guys? Pete.

Where is the NAV1 radio?
Flyboy_Pete replied to Jikul's topic in C337 Skymaster HD SERIES for FSX | P3D
And when you kinda want some more 'get-up-and-go', try "Turbo-Charging" it (look through this forum for 'howto' details). That makes it one fast bird! The mods are easy to do. -
Where is the NAV1 radio?
Flyboy_Pete replied to Jikul's topic in C337 Skymaster HD SERIES for FSX | P3D
G'day Jikul. Another point to note: To tune the NAV1 just push the big button in the bottom left of the GNS530 labelled - "Push C/V", as that gives the focus to tune in the NAV1 freqs. Push the same button to go back to COM1. Pete. -
JS41 - Did you ever noticed....
Flyboy_Pete replied to xxJohnxx's topic in PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)
Yes, nice touches aren't they. -
Hey John, the PMDG tutorial on page 63 has a taxi check list and item #2 on the list is "ARM the spoilers". I think that these are needed incase of an aborted takeoff. @Bluepilot76 -- one other thing that might make the TOCWS go off could be your FLOWS setting (the dials just above the Condition Levers) they need to be set to 3 or less for takeoff -- See page 69 of the AOM.

Hey guys. If you can't raise "Bliksimpie" with a PM, then PM me, and I will send you a link to the files he sent me. It's a great fix that he did. Pete. -
No Textures on Exterior Paint
Flyboy_Pete replied to AvA757Pilot's topic in C337 Skymaster HD SERIES for FSX | P3D
Welcome. It's easy done, especially when you have lots of aircraft installed. Have a great flight ... -
Good that you get a flight without any problems. That way you know that it's unlikely to be an install issue. As has been advised previously on this forum, you need to have the original default situation aircraft in the FSX start menu to get this complex aircraft to behave itself. I personally prefer to start my J41 flights with the "Tutorial Flight" by double-clicking on it, and from there, I select a new airport and or paint scheme. Then I save that for future flights, and start my J41 flights in FSX by double-clicking on the saved flight. Have you been successful with the "Tutorial Flight" by following the "PMDG_J41_PILOT_TUTORIAL"? That will teach you most of what you need to know to have a successful flight. Even then, the J41 has some "tricks" up her sleeve! There is lots of excellent info to be found in this forum, if you go looking. Happy flights ...

Are you pushing the TOCTS before entering the runway? That will tell you if all is Ok for take-off - see the PMDG J41 Pilot Intro on page 56. Have you set the "anti-skid" brakes to "On" - see the PMDG J41 Pilot Intro on page 61. The Amber Light, what one are you referring to?

No Textures on Exterior Paint
Flyboy_Pete replied to AvA757Pilot's topic in C337 Skymaster HD SERIES for FSX | P3D
In the "Aircraft Select" box, at the bottom, make sure that "Show all variations" is ticked. Otherwise you only see the main paint for each aircraft. -
Are you using different weather settings than what you use to? I found that using REX made a difference to the stability of my landings because there is more wind/turbulance in my flghts now. Maybe try a "calm" weather setting and see if that makes a difference.

Spoilers not retracting
Flyboy_Pete replied to Frank Otero's topic in PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)
Hi Frank. The AOM and the Tutorial only specify the Arming of the Spoilers during the "Taxi (before take-off) Check", and then Dis-Arming them during the "After Landing Check". But the "Descent Approach Check" does call for the "SPOILERS .... Armed" check by the PNF (page 87). So, in reference to your question, no, you have not missed anything, I made the mistake of saying "After you arm the spoilers", where I should have said, "After you check that they are armed ... ". Actually, I think that I have the habit of dis-arming them on climb-out, so that is probably the reason for my comment. I best "follow proceedure" in the future myself .... demerits points are accumulating Happy flights mate  -
Spoilers not retracting
Flyboy_Pete replied to Frank Otero's topic in PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)
No, you can not force them to retract. They are fully automagic when armed and when used correctly - given that your FSX is playing nice at the time <_< After you arm the spoilers on final, they will only deploy when the WOW (weight-on-wheels) switches are enabled - in others words, after you touch-down - and then only after you use some reverse thrust. Once you bleed off speed and are down to seventy knots, you bring the throttle levers back to flight-idle (hit F1 works best for me) and the spoilers retract - again automagically. This is how they work for me just as the PMDG tutorial suggests. One other thing. I always start the PMDG J41 from a saved flight by double-clicking on the "saved flight" icon in my documents folder, and never by starting FSX the default way. This is the most successful way I have found to get FSX to play nice with the J41. Start with the PMDG Tutorial flight and change colours and airport from there, then save the flight. I have even saved a mid-air flight to practise landing etc (QANTAS Colours), and it works every time. -
Thanks for reporting back Zoran. It can help others later if they need an answer to the question. Sometimes the answer stares us in the face but we just can't see it. I have not tried this option yet but will soon. Thanks again.

Brindabella Airlines: Aircrafts' day-by-day plan

Thanks for those Andreas. BTW guys, if you are looking for a "YBBN" that is easy on the frames, try Ant's one. -
No spy equipment on hong kong livery
Flyboy_Pete replied to Levkov's topic in PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)
G'day Vladimir. Check this thread for the answer : http://forum.avsim.net/topic/270383-radar-dome/ Did it help? -
Howard, I have a "slow" computer compared to your one mate, and most of the time I do not notice sluggish performance. Sure, those ORBX YMMLs and YBBNs will slow you some, but not to the point of not being enjoyable. I regularly fly mine in and out of YMAV (Avalon) and it's as good on the frames as the other aircraft that I own. I agree with all the guys above. It's a fabulous aircraft for FSX.
