Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting this aircraft .. what do you all find special about this particular model by LES?

You and me both mate! -

As opposed to opinionated opinions .. aha ... this is a closed minded opinion .. So .. you've a closed minded opinion that goes for open minded opinions and doesn't go for opiniated opinions ... unless they're yours ... I think I got it!

DCS World is free to download (and use) and comes with the SU-25 ... just a thought if you want to see more of it ... DCS has a lot of potential but it's actually the clouds and weather where it fails to compare (imo). If they could model some civilian aircraft and widen the world a bit it could give civie sims a run for their money. While flying the A-10C in DCS is an awesome experience, the 'fighting' part of the equation has no appeal to me at all. But I'd love to fly transport and/or supply .. as long as it's not choppers .

Carenado Seneca II now 64 bit ?
pryoski replied to jcomm's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I think any Carenado plane is a good bet. As far as twin's go, the Baron 58 is great, the 337 even better .. and the C340 is fantastic! The Seneca is no mean slouch either. I have them all. -
Xplane 10 is still my no.1 Sim
pryoski replied to FIVE-BY-FIVE's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I agree that the effect is very sudden ... but I think that it does the white-out effect to a lesser degree than it used to. I never used to get the whispy raggedy effect when going through cloud and now I do. -
Xplane 10 is still my no.1 Sim
pryoski replied to FIVE-BY-FIVE's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
We must be from a different planet you and I or maybe our hemispheres generate different clouds .. because I often marvel at how real the clouds look .. and I run XP clouds @ 10% .. go figure  -

Xplane 10 is still my no.1 Sim
pryoski replied to FIVE-BY-FIVE's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I disagree .. it's called "opinion based on personal observation". Add jcomm's observation "When it comes to the physical/mechanical effects of flying through them, I prefer X-Plane10", then it's just possible that there's something other than "prejudice" behind the statements (my observation being that the word "prejudice" is imbued with a "negative" connotation ). Cloud cover in X-Plane 10 can go for hundreds of kilometers. I have yet to experience that in P3D with REX, even though they may "look" better with REX. -
Thinking about the B777 or A320....
pryoski replied to brucek's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I have and enjoy both. To my mind the 777 is currently more 'stable' at the moment, and is arguably the more 'complete' of the two. That said, JARDesign are very pro-active and appear to be updating at a steady rate. JARDesign group do listen to the community and I believe their openness to questions and criticism will eventually deliver a very complete aircraft (JARDesign himself noted in the Org forums that the reason he chose to model the A320 was because he wanted a realistic and complete A320). -
"WED Contest - Amazing Prize"

I had a go beginning of last week and now find it quite easy. My point is .. if an old duffer like me can do it most people should be churning out masterpieces in short order! -
777 version 1.5 Launch Today
pryoski replied to FIVE-BY-FIVE's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Hi Mike, I'm more of a regional flyer myself, so while I really do like the T7, I don't spend much time in it and am definitely not an authority on the plane. If you've got any questions regarding the T7 in XP, my advice is that you air your questions in the dedicated T7 forum ... Cheers! . -
777 version 1.5 Launch Today
pryoski replied to FIVE-BY-FIVE's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
Not 100% sure (I'll have to wait to check) but I think it does give you a few options. Just remember to save it otherwise you'll be adjusting those bits again. Regarding the landing v-speed you may have to experiment with weights, however I'm not really qualified to provide any depth here. Cheers! -
777 version 1.5 Launch Today
pryoski replied to FIVE-BY-FIVE's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
If you believe there are issues with the aircraft that haven't been addressed then you probably should raise them on the ORG forums. However they should be tabled in a calm and friendly way .. will probably have a better chance of being answered and I don't believe they ban without some provocation. There's also a number of T7 stalwarts on the Org's T7 sub-forum who would be happy to go over your FMC issues Cessna729 and Rob Macdonald come to mind. P.S. Mikea76 .. you can save your volume preferences in the T7 popup menu ... I'm surprised oyu haven't noticed that as it's been there since the previous update. -
Yep, X-Plane looks fine for me too. Could be people's gamma settings (X-Plane's Gamma settings is what I mean, but your monitor's gamma settings might also be contributing to the overall effect you're experiencing) ... too little and it'll look washed out, too much it'll look dark. Experiment to get a result that suits your tastes. Regarding airports, there's tons on the Internet that are free. If a particular airport isn't there its actually pretty easy to fire up WED and an Earth shot from Google Maps to verify building placement, plus an ounce of imagination to create your own airports. I fly mainly regional routes in X-Plane and have either created or downloaded all the airports I fly to. Clouds vary depending on real weather (if you have real weather enabled) and are often amazingly real IMO. I also run REX Essential on P3D and I have to agree that REX looks quite amazing ... however I understand that the atmospherics simulation is closer in X-Plane (that's what I've understood jcomm as saying). Cheers!

Welcome to the Moo Club jcomm B) ... Tom Kyler's creation is spectacular, no doubt about it. Tom's also responsible for the C90B Kingair in case you didn't know. It's been getting some tenderness in recent updates as well, but my dream is that one day both these TKyler classics reach a staggering level of maturity (as I said, the MU-2 is already spectacular!). I'll look forward to you sharing your experiences flying the Moo.

how to update B777 worldliner
pryoski replied to jakkk777's topic in The X-Plane General Discussions Forum
I'm not sure how the AVSIM store does it as I purchased mine from the Org, but I presume that the process may be similar. I was informed about the update on the X-Plane.org store via email. I then downloaded the entire package, unzipped it and placed it in the Aircrafts\Heavy Metal folder. You might want to contact AVSIM software support directly? Good luck! -
I edited my version because what Goran and Jeremy said were better answers than my attempt. I drew the conclusion that you were implying that X-Plane marketing is based on a lie because when one is talking within the context of X-Plane (and your statement was within that context), I think it is a reasonable inference based on what you said. Disingenuous means lying, not being truthful. Hostility happens when the questions are often laced with sarcasm ... it maybe the nature of the question and answer. I believe that both sides of the fence probably should take better care with their q & a with regard to how the emotive content may be perceived by the other party. Sarcasm has no place among strangers and definitely ISN'T friendly. How is that last sentence respectful? It was probably meant in jest ... but you and I are strangers. We don't yet have a working experience of the hidden subtext in such a statement.

It's not like there's a moral position regarding flight sim polygamy  ... I'd recommend that people who are interested in finding out for themselves devote a little bit of hands-on homework with XPX while continuing to fly the bulk of their time on FSX or P3D. That way you'll assimilate things slowly at a pace that suits you ... there's no imperative that you need to know everything about XP right away. Then one day, you can make an empirically informed decision ... but using the beta is just too limiting IMO.
