My P3D v2 runs much worse than FSX...
Thanks for all your help. I suspected the video card (HD5670 ATI/Radeon) is to weak, I believe not even 1Gb mem. As for the CPU, my i5 is mounted on an iMac (used with Windows) and I suspect that the system splits the quad. So, I'll save P3D for another day, when I change hardware completely. iMac won't let me change anything insside, as you probably know.

My P3D v2 runs much worse than FSX...
Hi, sorry to be a bore, here, but you guys are so good at giving valuable advice. Since running P3Dv2, my FPS have run at a lousy 13 on average, irrespective of settings, min or maxed. It seems also to load textures slowly... Strangely, with my FSX well tweaked, I manage regularly 20-26fps. Let me assure you, since acquiring P3D, I have tried separately all the standard tweaks (LM, Word Not Allowed, *******, etc...) to no avail. makes no difference. I am starting to wonder if there is any form of incompatibility at hardware level, given that P3D transfers a lot of usage to the graphic card, etc. My computer is an Intel based Apple (iMac 11, 23" monitor) running (happily) on Windows 7-64 ultimate with SP1 Intel® Core i5 CPU 680 @ 3.60GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz 8 Gb RAM available memory Direct X 11 Radeon HD5670 (not the best, but OK with FSX) Hard disk Hitachi 2Gb with lots of free space. Any advice or suggestion welcome, meanwhile, I am obviously happy to continue with FSX well maxed and delivering enough fps (and little stutter...) Great forum, btw ! B)

Found it impossible to buy P3Dv2
Hello ! I have been tempted for some time to move on to P3D(V2) having read all the good things about it, and keeping in mind all future developments, which FSX cannot offer. I am a pilot (PPL) training for CPL/IFR and consequently feel I need the best training tools available. I have visited the Lockheed Martin website to enroll. They are asking to "register" before anything can be done, which I have now done TWICE, but have received nothing from them by way of confirmation, so I am stuck, it seems. I just can't buy it. Am I the only one ? Any ideas, please ?

FIRST THOUGHTS
Jim, this is the only way to turn : with brakes. Cirruses, like many new a/c have a floating (non-steerable) front wheel. <_<

The joys of bush flying; the missionary 'positions'
Hi guys, have a look at this lovely piece posted some time ago on the missionary pilots blog : THE TOP 10 AVIATION TIPS FROM MISSIONARY PILOTS  http://www.mafblog.c...ssionary-pilots Enjoy !

New Zeland: what season inversion ?
Thanks for your replies, and to hear from a fellow simmer from beautiful NZ. This is what I thought: hot summers burning out everything, but did not expect the rest of the time to be so lush, though. Makes me feel to want to come down under and fly it all out... in a tiger moth, perhaps, and to visit Wanaka ?

New Zeland: what season inversion ?
Hi there, and wishing you a very happy new year of flight simming in "ORBX world" ! B) My question today is this (bear with me) I am still testing South Island to check its beauties, and I have been sampling all season, with this surprise : The NZ summer textures appear very much like our European winter ones (yellow/brown with a generally cold 'earthy' look) while NZ winters textures give an appearance of extremely lush and pleasant green. Is this right ? I am sure ORBX people are right, they must be ! But, for myself, I am starting to have doubts about my geography and I feel I am losing what little knowledge of climatology I thought I possessed. As a final comment, I find that all seasons, except Summer, are quite green... I have never been to NZ, so cannot comment further on their seasons. I think all my FSX parameters are alright, so... Any comments, please? I have attached 2 photos for each season to show the textures as they appear on my screen.

Help ! My EHSI & compass/GPS disagree !
Hi Andy, thanks for your prompt reply. Normally I do this regularly when flying a single with a simple DI. The thought of doing this with an EHSI never sprang to my mind since, as you know, this cannot not happen in RW flying ! Cheers

Help ! My EHSI & compass/GPS disagree !
I don't think I ever got that before on any plane, nor with the C90 : both the compass and the GPS are showing my track as 314 degrees - but the EHSI is happily showing 014 degrees ! I noticed that after take off. There does not seem to be anything I can do to change that. I may have read about this in the past on the forum, but can't remember. Is this just a case of restarting FSX and hope it won't happen again ? Wonder what caused this. Any idea, please anyone ? Merry Christmas to all !

Problem with ORBX England + GEX Europe
I believe there is a solution to this. Have a look at the FTX support forum.

Checklist
Thank you very much, Luca. This proves very useful if one's not flying our C90B too regularly.

Left Engine Full Power when starting
Does this happen with any other twin turboprop in your hangar ? What flight controls do you use ? A joystick with a single power lever, or do you use a throttle quadrant with different power levers ? I'd look again at my settings, do you have FSPUIC ? So many possible causes. In my case, sometimes both engines go berzerk when I return to the sim after I have used the "map" screen or the "slew" function and it's a pain to deal with, for sure...

ORBX small airfields... night lighting on demand ?
Thanks, CoolP, FSX restriction. makes sense...

couldn't switch the wipers on... !
Yup, thanks ! Guess I went past that one up there... Know what they say... can't see... time to hang the helmet ! Funny bit is : I just wanted to test the wipers quickly. Turn Battery on, turn wipers on (slow & fast) can hear the sounds, wipers not moving... interesting !

couldn't switch the wipers on... !
Just flew into a nice little storm before landing yesterday and, although it was not completely necessary, I decided to use those nice windscreen wipers we have been supplied with the plane. So, I ended up feeling stupid having to pause the sim to try and put the wipers on... and after looking at every single knob & button in the cockpit... still couldn't find any... No one seems to have mentioned that yet in the forum, so I have to beg for help for something obvious to everyone but me... sorry ! :Loser: Thanks. I am starting to enjoy C90 more and more, and would like to take this opportunity to thank profusely Yoda and his team for producing a superb tutorial. People like Yoda deserve big respect for enriching this hobby with their knowledge. :Peace:

BBJ 700WL "Ed force one" repaint
No, no, sorry only meant it as an common expression re his four stripes, not a BA pilot (yet !)
-
BBJ 700WL "Ed force one" repaint
Ah Ah, I met him several times at the clubhouse of our little airfield (near Heathrow) complete with his four BA stripes on his shoulders, great lad, great brain (not destroyed by peculiar substances as he chose to get "high" the only right way... up in the sky with wings and all !)

ORBX small airfields... night lighting on demand ?
Hello, I enjoy so much flying in ORBX coutry (!) it's just to great to immerse oneself in that special atmosphere they provide. Just one question: I haven't noted one instance of "night lighting on demand". That is the special request pilots do when returning to their home airfield at night by means of transmitting on a special frequency or using a whistle on the airfield frequency so that runway lighting comes up. Does nyone know ? Good idea to suggest ORBX ?

Tutorial - Please!
I have just been through your tutorial, Bob (Kurt?) and first of all, a big, huge, thank you for producing this so quickly and so professionally and straight from the "horse's mouth" (indeed, makes one wonder why this hadn't been offered to their customers, through you, by Carenado) It is people like you who enrich this community by the fold and make our hobby so fascinating and rewarding. Perhaps you could clarify one or two points for me, which I have found confusing, if you don't mind. First, regarding the "before engine start check list", page 4, it says: Battery - ON, then 2 lines below, battery OFF... then crossfeed OPEN, Boost Pumps - ON (listen for operation) So, How can you listen for operation or check illumination with battery OFF ? Shouldn't we have the battery ON all the time ? Second, I am confused as to the role of the right condition lever (High Idle) after start of right engine, followed by Right condition lever (Low Idle) after start of the left engine, but no mention of the left condition lever at that time. Is there any reason why the Right condition lever should have to be at high idle ? I presume they are then both taken back to low idle, or as required, but this is not clear. Finally, at the "shut down" check list it is mentioned that Boost Pumps (below 10% N1) - OFF. But I haven't seen any mention of having the Boost Pumps ON at any time before, unless I missed something. I would really appreciate your clarifications on this, and once again, congratulations on such a great tutorial, something which was sadly missing big time.

can't swap frequencies... !
Curly, may I suggest you raise this point with V1VrV2 in his post: List of Outstanding Bugs/Issues as he's still compiling issues to address after SP1
-
Traffic pathetic
Thank you bliksimpie for your good work. Am I right in thinking that SP1 has taken care of this ? and probably by applying your mod !
-
can't swap frequencies... !
Thanks for that, I have to say that SP1 cured the frequency stand-by/activation thingie. As for the PFD, it goes like this after a while, I switch avionics on and off and it comes back after a while... Strange things happen !]

Turn off AP on ILS approach 7 nm from touchdown and ...
Yes I believe this could be an issue with my CH quadrant and CH yoke, although it has never happened with any of my large fleet. Tonight, I had the same experience, but before that ALL my lights came out at the same time on the annunciator, a real Christmas tree, all of them and stayed there, there was nothing I could do to stop that and of course all my knobs & levers were on the right place... Then again, about 1 minute after deselecting AP, nearing short finals (3 miles) the plane became uncontrollable, pitching up and sideways as I could not stop it, against trim, etc... (believe me this was NOT pilot induced oscillation, I am a flying instructor, btw) and I had to cancel the whole thing, something always frustrating after a good flight. The good news is that the G/S was showing this time. Ach well !

Turn off AP on ILS approach 7 nm from touchdown and ...
... then all hell brakes loose... the plane throws itself in all directions, totally uncontrollable by hand, etc. Had to pause and then stop flight to avoid crashing, very frustrating. Also, I noticed that the G/S was not present on either EHSI or the primary... (This is after SP1, by the way.) Any ideas, please ?
