  1. When the light turns red in front of you and you check to make sure spoilers and autobrakes are armed.....
  2. The way I usually do it is to use the V/S mode/LNAV to intercept the G/S dot from just above/below (at altitudes of up to 6000 ft AGL) then follow it with V/S until G/S capture. For final approaches where the loc course is less than 45 degrees from the intercept course, this is a very useful and highly interactive method. I recommend giving it a go.
  3. It floats as much as any other aircraft of it's size. I don't see the problem. I've landed multiple times right where I should be (150 ft beyond the 1500 ft markers). There is an old saying : "A bad workman always blames his tools."
  4. Ryanair livery looking stunning on a hot, hazy evening in southeast Italy. I am absolutely in love with this a/c.
  5. Even 747s sometimes land with no autobrakes in good conditions and with runways over 10k feet using just reverse thrust. This is useful if aircraft are required to roll out to the end of the runway, and it saves brake pad wear. A 737 should be able to do that no problem on runways over 10,000 ft. long.
  6. This is what the NGX has made my computer feel like.
  7. Exactly, more for added fun factor than any danger.
  8. I can land without weather "spoiling" my approach, but that doesn't mean it's not challenging. In fact, I've never once crashed a plane on approach to Innsbruck. Once again, let me say that the approach is NOT SOMETHING THAT IS DIFFICULT TO GET DONE, it's just an added challenge if you really get into it and don't sit back thinking, "man, this is so easy I could do it with my eyes closed."
  9. I agree. In the sim, people get cocky because it seems rather tame and controlled, but in the real world, without the unrealistic visibility of runways in FSX, the job is made significantly harder.
  10. The circling approach to 08 even in fair weather conditions can be a little scary! Look at how aggressive the maneuvers are.
  11. Try the Loc/DME runway 26 approach, circle to land runway 08 under weather conditions that permit seeing the runway only at 6 DME OEV (OEV is the Localiser code). I had to make a missed approach before I saw the runway the second time at the last minute. Also, adding in some snow, etc. will really spice up your flying life! When taking off from 6,000 foot runways in a 737-800, I'd recommend no T/O derate at all.
  12. The aircraft is not pressurized for flight. You need to make sure both packs are on after departure and the recirculation fans are on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helios_Airways_Flight_522
  13. VMC=Visual Meteorological ConditionsIMC= Instrument Meteorological Conditions.
  14. So how many of you have flown an approach into the famous Innsbruck Airport (LOWI)?
  15. Thanks for making these videos! Before I would always use FL Change mode to descend (by dialing in a low speed and letting the plane sink past the descent path), which happens sometimes, but it's still unrealistic to use it all the time.
  16. Fyi, I was reminding people not to forget about windows defender (I run avast! antivirus) running as well. I forgot that windows defender was scanning files as well, even though I had excluded fsx from avast! already. I did read the intro manual before setup, you know, I'm not an imbecile.
  17. So I recently discovered that by simply disabling Windows Defender antivirus from scanning my fsx location, I was able to get a 75-100% increase in FPS, and now I'm sitting at a nice 25 PFS in the VC and 60 outside with settings up nearly all the way except water and a/c shadowing. So everyone, make sure you disable not only your aftermarket antivirus, but most crucially, Defender as well. Hope this helps some people with framerate troubles. Regards, Dylan.
  18. Thanks for your help! My first plan of action is to purchase a temporary patch (a new, faster processor) for my existing system and see about a new hyper-system next year if money permits. Regards, Dylan
  19. Hi guys, I was wondering how much of a factor CPU speed is on NGX performance. For example, would an upgrade from 2330 hz to 3060 hz make a difference with FPS? I started considering this after I noticed that every time I try to run the NGX, my CPU usage stays firmly locked at 100% until crashing. Thanks in advance, Regards Dylan
  20. The only thing is, I don't really have any opportunities to upgrade my system to 64 bit in the near future, so I'm reluctant to attempt a clean reinstall of everything on my HD just to get a plane working. May have to wait for the next time I buy a brand new PC, which is another year away at least.
  21. A "little more" enough to take my system, chop it up into little diced pieces, and then feed those pieces to hungry FPS hogs waiting inside the belly of the NGX. But it may also be my 32 bit OS and 2.33 Ghz CPU. But I like the hogs better.Btw, do you think a CPU upgrade would help? Would 3.06 Ghz make a considerable difference with the NGX vs 2.33 Ghz?
  22. I have an extremely average system (not even by fsx standards) and I can achieve 25-40 fps consistently at VHHH with scenery near max. I performed all of the possible tweaks and whatnot just to try and get the NGX working (it didn't, still sitting at 5 fps and crashing with hotfix installed). However, when I tried using the 747-400X for something that I could actually fly without OOM errors, I was shocked at how the framerates with the Queen went up.
