  1. I would do a circuit to begin with so that you get the feel for flying the plane. Even with these "entertainment" simulators they feel extremely different to flying on flight sim, so it is a good idea to get a good feel for the aircraft before you move onto more difficult stuff. This also will allow the instructor to gauge your skill level. After that, i would just do approaches. Try Queenstown, Kai Tak, airports which are just a bit more than a simple straight in approach. Or fly the same approach into the same airport, with each time increasing the difficulty such as visibility, failures, crosswind etc etc. This is what I would do if I only had 30 minutes. This is just from my experience on flying in both "consumer experience" level simulators such as the one you will be flying on, and Level-D simulators used to train pilots.
  2. Here's my list. Keep in mind I just turned 17 (today actually) so haven't had the opportunity to fly on some of the classics. From what I can remember I've been on: GA C172 C182 Piper Warrior Helo's R44 Bell 406L Longranger Boeing 737-300/400/700/800 (Ansett, Qantas, Virgin Australia) 747-300/400/400ER (Qantas, United, Singapore Airlines, Air France) 757-200 (United) 767-200/300 (Qantas, American Airlines, Air New Zealand) 777-200ER/300ER (Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia) Airbus A320 (Jetstar, Air New Zealand, United, Finnair) A321 (Finnair) A330-200/300 (Qantas) A340-300 (Finnair) A380 (Emirates, Qantas) ATR-72-500 (Air New Zealand Link) Dash 8 Q400 (Qantas Link)
  3. With the new vatsim client that is in development that has CDPLC , it would be great if they could work with PMDG and integrate it directly into the 777. All those little things would really add to the 777 experience
  4. Thanks for those links, couldn't find anything of much use. Tried plugging it into another computer to see if that would help fix the issues, still the exact same problems. This really has me stumped. How can it work perfectly for 5 years, and then when I don't use it for a month and a half it stops working? I just don't get it. I found a similar topic from 2 years ago, and he worked out that his pot had stopped working. The differences is that his left toe brake was stuck on through all of the rudder range, unlike mine which still works when the rudder is turned to the right. I might try and replace the pot and see if that works. Otherwise I think buying a new set seems to be the only option.
  5. OK- i have tried switching USB ports, tried those setting you posted before, however nothing has worked. Still the same left toe brake issue.
  6. This isn't a driver, just the bob-standard properties of the rudder pedals found under "devices and printers." I haven't installed any driver for the rudder pedals. The calibration window within FSX shows pretty much the same thing.
  7. Here are my rudder pedals when centered: Here are my rudder pedals when pressed left: And here they are when pressed right: Hope this is what you wanted. Also just to let you know I wasn't applying any toe brakes myself. Cheers
  8. G'day guys, I have been using my saitek rudder pedals for the past 4.5 years now with no issues. After 2 months off the sim due to school work, I came back to find that my left toe brake would always stick on. What happens is that whenever the rudder axis is in the left half, it causes my left toe brake axis to stick completely on. However, when the rudder is the right half, the left toe brake axis works fine. Why this tells me is that the pot is still working, and it seems like the rudder axis is somehow interfering with the left toe brake axis. Again I'm not completely sure. It was working fine before I had my break. I didn't touch it at all for the 2 months, which is why I'm puzzled as to why it isn't working now. Let me know if you have any ideas. Cheers, Ollie
  9. I am having the exact same issue. I had been using the NGX since it came out with no issues, but just yesterday I started getting "PMDG_737NGX.dll" crashes when selecting the aircraft. However today I was no longer getting the PMDG_737NGX.dll crashes, instead FSX would close itself after load up. However there was no "microsoft flight simulator has stopped working" message, the program just closed. There aren't even any logs in the Event Viewer. It seems to be happening just before the NGX starts its "systems initialisation". The aircraft would appear at the gate, it would start to load the VC textures, but then the program would close. This only happens when using the NGX. Anyone got any ideas? Cheers, Ollie
  10. Great flight report! Thanks very much for that, a highly enjoyable read. Hopefully I will have the means to do one on the 777 soon
  11. Thanks all for the information, much appreciated
  12. Those 'T' rocker switches are not for different TQ modes, instead they are programmable buttons for use in FSX. Regarding the throttle knobs, it does not come with extra black knobs, instead you will need to purchase a second TQ, which is highly recommended. The yoke is a great bit of equipment and have been using mine for about 6 years now with no issues.
  13. Hey all, With the pending release of the 777-200LR/F, and hopefully the -300/ER along with the -200/ER at some point, I was wondering what are the cockpit and systems differences between the earlier models and later models. There are the different engine options, different weights, different sizes and different ranges, but what are the less notable differences between them all buried in the systems? I may have this all wrong but I remember hearing that there were differences between them all. Thanks!
  14. Seriously enjoyable video to watch. Made me smile when he completed it
  15. A seriously awesome video of a seriously awesome aircraft!
  16. Thanks for the vid man! I think I may annoy a few controllers on VATSIM with failures. That ECL actually makes me want to have a failure Cheers
  17. Have you done any polar ops yet, in particular Toronto to Hong Kong? That is one route I am looking forward to trying out, get to experience a completely different part of the world!
  18. Wow! Absolutely beautiful. A true piece of art. Will defiantly be worth the long wait.
  19. Are you using OZx scenery aswell? When I was using an un-updated version of it I too was experiencing crashes at YBBN, which always seemed to happen in the same place. If you do have it, try disabling it in the scenery library, just to see if it is the culprit or not.
  20. Ok guys, Fly Tampa has confirmed that YSSY is in the works. http://www.flytampa.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6150 Ollie
  21. Can't wait for this mate, best of luck and keep us updated! Wish there was something I could do to help, but I don't know anything about scenery building. Ollie
  22. See those 5 tiny screens? Yeah I think that they could be connected to computers, could be wrong though
  23. I don't fly anything else. I built a new computer for it. It is simply a superb aircraft, so beautifully made. PMDG have really upped the level of flightsim add ons, I really can't wait to see what they bring to the table when their 777 is released.
  24. I am not using Nvidia Surround. I also have the latest Microsoft Visuals C++ Redistributables 2005, 2008, and 2010 with all updates. The only thing I installed before it happened was a livery for the NGX. Other than that nothing else. Ollie
