  1. I was affraid to write this post, once I read Tom's post. Which I shouldn't. I agree that anyone posting has to respect the other colleges. But criticism is part of the forums itself, I do remember a LOT of criticism about FSX, and still, but in most cases this conplains has made others to look for solutions and improvements. If we are affraid of posting when we are not satisfied or have a conplain, then no answers, solutions or improvments will be done. A forum in which only product nice comments are allowed wont be very trusting. I don't use FSX because my system just can't handle it in the way I like, so I still use FS9, I didn't like Flight either and unistalled it, but I keep coming back to this forum looking for opinions and improvments and hoping that at some point I will be in a position to download Flight again. Nice comments and non nice comments are important for me as long as it shows the overall evolution of the product, once the negaive comments disapear because those issues are solved the product turns more interesting. It has happen already with FSX, at the very begginning many many comments were negative, but they faded with time. Please reconsider the position and allow negative and positive comments in this forum, let the time and updates silence the negative ones. I hope that I wont be banned here because of this post Regards, and happy landings to all fellow captains
  2. In fact it was the opposite, MS ignored "hard core simmers", so don´t expect them to buy a product which is not complaying with their (our) expectations. Hard core simmers were long time waiting for MS to developpe a new flight simulator.
  3. Well it matters, because after the initial realease, all new releases are supposed to follow the market tendency, and that's my point, is it turning? But a good answer to dismiss my question is that the scenery is not meant to be destroyed. Turning it to a combat game would mean a lot of scenery replacement, I guess
  4. Now the P-40, an addition to the P-51, and the A6M2 Zero, sure it is not combat flight simulator still, but the skies are getting full of war planes without cockpits. I'm afraid this will be the direction in which flight is turnning to. Only the maule, as a civilian aircraft has been released. What do you think guys?
  5. WOW!!... wise words I absolutely agree with you, forums are intended to be places in which we can tell what we think, look for answers, help, gather and share, Forum comes from a word meaning a place to share opinions. Everybody must be able to disagree with a product and be able to write it down. For instance if I wanted to buy Flight add ons, I would like to be able to look for all the opinions in favor and against, just to make my mind.
  6. Probably because we feel the need to tell our thoughts, and probably an open complain about something... isn't that what the forums are made for? to express our opinions, look for help, and or help others? some opinions are in favor some are not...so...
  7. sure we do, but every time it has different weather conditions, traffic, ATC, loads, and also system faults (not always thanks God)
  8. Mmm, It is exactly what made FS so popular, and created this great big comunity of fans. You were able not just to create missions, instead, you were able to create sceneries, reacreate "your world" ( the place where you live), your favorite airplane, your custom texture. For instance, everytime I bought a new version of FS, I sadly found out that my home airport MROC was not detailed, then I did it for 2000, 2002, 2004, and shared it with everyone on the web, so they could also have the same experience I had, and expanded and better experience. All that, has gone with Flight ( ok, ok, at least at this time). Costa Rica's Flight expansion pack, mmm probably will never happen.
  9. I absolutely agree with you, how many hours do I need to play a game to start liking it or not??, I bought FIFA 2012, I loved it from the very first second, it impressed me, arguing that you need more time to like a product is not valid IMHO, it depends on people, you may like Flight from the very first momet, why not? or just dismissed it?"News flash: Nobody cares how "hardcore" you claim you are. Just because you played FSX for a while does not mean your opinion is somehow more valid than someone who is playing Flight for the first time. " Hardcore or not hardcore, well if someone spends tons of hours playing a game, he might have a better knowledge to judge a similar game, and his/her opinion somehow counts.
  10. Ok, now I have some new good points, thanks for that,Lightning ( enhaced)sounds (enhaced)Physics (enhaced)Inmersive sensation ( NEW one )Fun factor ( enhaced)I agree that the inmersive sensation is a new one, a good new one. Of course it is derived from all the above in the end. In previous Sims I didn't have that inmersive sensation, you alway felt behind the monitor unless you added TrackIR for instance.
  11. Ok, one fine answer to a question without comparing, can you see it Great Ozzie, it is possible.
  12. good point, You might have to. My point is, we already know what FS9 and FSX has, now with that in mind, go ahead and point out the new features, I was trying to avoid the tons of replies telling me what Flight does not have and the fixes made.
  13. Hi everybody,I have read a lot about Flight and FSX and comparasions between these two plataforms. When a new game is released you expect it to be awesome, innovative, with so much more than previous game releases in order to succeed in todays market.Could someone here please post the real new features this game has, but please, don't write about enhacements, as long as I'm looking for real outstanding new features, not improvements, fixes etc. Improvements, fixes are for existing games, upgrades not for new ones. What makes this game outstanding, different, innovative. Please don't start comparasions, because we should not compare and old obsolete plataform with a new one, we all know that Flight is not FS11.Thanks guys
  14. I have to agree with your numbers, I believe that the FS comunity is far larger than 40000. Myself for instance, I have to nephews 12 and 14 years old, both of them avid simmers, but when it comes to buy add ons, or download freeware, it is me and my account who does that for them, so they are not reflected in the 40000 scope ( indeed they did buy the FSX )I think that the biggest problem was that FSX was so though in you PC that most of us decided not to run it or buy it until patches or less expensive PC were able to manage that software. In most cases that never happen, it was not until now that we finally are able to have descent frame rates on FSX. When FS9 came into the market, it was also true that full settings were difficult to acomplish, but never that hard than FSX. That I think discouraged many many simmers to buy the product, and that's why FSX was not a Bestseller, instead of looking at the reasons behind this failure, MS decided based on numbers ( money) to close the project. My two cents
  15. Very interesting, so asuming this is right half of the FS comunity downloaded my scenery MROCv2.zip, ( 19032 downloads just in this website, regardless the other two in which is available). That is something I didn't dream of. But seriously, check this article in which I find a different account for FS consumers: http://fshistory.simflight.com/fsh/downloads/chapter1.pdf" In the year 2000 The GuinnessBook of Records confirmed this by reporting that as ofJune 1999 Flight Simulator had sold a massive 21million copies worldwide. That is in 2000, as population grows and accesibility also grows, I guess that the numbers should increase.
  16. Maybe thounsands, but those thousands are faithfull and loyal customers, the millions you are talking about are the ones that today likes your game, tomorrow will go for another one, wont pay for extras, will only use the demo, or the basic, cause are not into it, and if tomorrow PS3 has another flying game, they will go for it, of course I know that from these millions MS makes money, and I wont argue that with you, is very clear.
  17. Well how small is that "niche"?.. I still see a lot of devs realeasing new products, highly detail products for that small niche, for me it seems "it is not a small world after all"Of course, if MS if monitoring Flight, it will be very difficult for them to gather true valuable information about Simmers preferences, as long as real hardcores probably will be flying FS9 or FSX, most of them will still use it instead of Flight. I'm impressed of the amount of people actually flying in ]VATSIM or IVAO, the amount of people buying Leveld D 767, PMDG etc. IMHO this interview clearly shows MS intentions not to work on FS11 or any real complex aircraft, and to keep in the direction of easy flying, nice spotting scenerios, and self development policies.Nothing new, from what we expected months ago. Absolutely agree with you, clearly stated, just a game, no plans to implement simulation in it. cheers
  18. Well it depends, if you use VATSIM for instance, you can get that feeling, We for instance have made many ATC events in CENAMER (Central America) with real ATC controllers on the radar and me and some other real pilots have felt a very similar experience as in real life, actually the only difference I could notice is that spoting traffic in FSX or FS9 is more difficult than in real life (if you get rid of the lettering in FS)This is very helpful, and help me a lot when I was studying, learning to understand what is herad in the radio and all the phraseology
  19. That's my point, dragging the airplane with a mouse it's almost the same, you do have the throtle in the gamepad, but can anyone here tell me that the throtle in Flight feels like the real one? do you really need the instruments to fly in flight? or could you just spot the plane with no cockpit and just fly?, the answer is yes. And the instrumentation is very basic, for that I'll pick the FSX with the add ons, Flight is very basic at this time, thats the MS idea, so it can be flown by anyone without any trouble. this is turning wrong, I'm not here to conplain about Flight or to defend FSX, i enjoy both of them, but for me Flight at this time it's just a game like Battlefield or Top Gun, far, very far from a flight simulator, but nice.
  20. Sure i have tried it, bu now I'm starting to decrease the interest in Flight although it is still in my PC HD. As said, it is a "fun" game I like it, don't misunderstand me, but it feels just like Battlefield 1943, which by the way I also like very much to play ( ok, maybe flying in Battlefield 1943 is harder to master.)cheers
  21. Well I have been reading a lot about this new game Flight, the hardcore games (one myself, and real pilot) are complaining about it's lack of realism and simulation. In the other others are really happy about it's simplicity and pc friendly, and some more i candy features. In the end both may be right. IMHO we are just losing the basics here. Flight at this time, at this stage (let's be clear, because it has the potential to become a more solid and more likely a simulator) it's just a game, just like a Play Station game, it's the same as flying a P51 or a Japanese Zero in for instance Battlefield 1943, or Top Gun in PS, it's the same, just a basic game. I can already see al the comments comming from dissapointed Flight fans, but please don't feel insulted, that was what MS intended, and there's nothing wrong with it, Hardcore simmer can still stick to FSX or FS9 and keeping making it as real as it gets, improving their skills and enjoying a more real simulation wtih all the add ons available. This Flight forum could be perfeclty placed in the PS action games forums as well, no offense please, it is not my intention. Finally, i like both styles, when it comes to simulation, I for sure pcik up FS, and when I just want to have an I candy flight with no flight worries or duties, I pick up Flight.just my two cents
  22. In fact they were very exited about beta testing the new game, no blinders at all, the problem is that Flight didn't reach their expectations as it is right now, and you are right it might become a great flight simulator, but at this time it is not, and for a lot of us that love the "as real as it gets", it is not an option. I really hope that this will change.
  23. With every new "game" you expect it to be more realistic, that´s what has happened in past with all the previous flight simulators we were always impressed with the new features, mainly the only conplain has been "frame rate" ( current pc's not running the game very well)but none of the simmers were conplaining of the game itself or the new features, Obviously some regreted the lack of better aircraft, or more detailed aiports etc, but in the overall everyone were very exited of the new flight simulator and very happy, until FSX first was released and it proveed to be not suitable to be run at that time in the average good pc's.With the "new" flight, the only new thing so far shown is the marketing strategy, they removed a lot of great things (or hide it) and we are conplaining now cause we see how a great simulation software is turned into a console game.just that
  24. i have been reading all these past days people telling that MS flight will be good. Now my two cents. Two friends of mine were beta testers, both unistalled it after a week and discarded it.Why?, it is not a simulator!!, period!, it's a game just that. 1- no online experience, and when i say no online experience i mean you can not longer choose VATSIM or IVAO to fly with, and probably won't have that chance ever, cause Microsoft will force you to play in their enviroment. so you won't have that freedom anymore.2- Just fly where MS decides you can, no more freedom of flying from your hometown aiport unless you live in one of the packs they sell, but anyway forget about taking of from San jose Costa Rica, or Honduras. forget about the freedom to decide to fly around the world, unless you want to expend a lot of money. 8 probably it would be cheaper to actually buy a ticket than simulate it )3- forget about third party developpers that actually push up the bar in simulation, simple life rule, a monopoly means no need to push up, as long as you are the only one that sells.4- forget about those amazing guys that take their time and effort to upload wonderful sceneries and free add ons, and that have made this hobby so unique and noble. I really sad loss.5- forget about very complex and realistic aircraft to train yourself, get serious, MS has never made a good plane, all have been eye candy type, and if this game is not intended for the hard core fan, why should they developpe this type of planes?, someone could say that if Flight sells good they actually would, but then why? if they sell the dummy aircraft an people buy it, why should the change their selling politics? This are my two cents, but could hold from typing it as long as I read this very optimistic but not realistic comments here.regards fellow captains, happy landings
