April 19, 201214 yr Well, I went back to FS9 after struggling with graphics issues with Flight for about a month (my GPU did not meet the minimum specs). In comparison FS9 was rock solid and, in a way, it was really nice to have that huge stable of aircraft again (not into jets) but nice Carenado, Aerosoft and Eaglesoft GA aeroplanes plus some excellent freeware to choose from. Also to be able to fly in the Alps and New Zealand, once again with the aid of a lot of excellent freeware sceneries. Just really nice to get away from Hawiaii for a while. And then I found a freeware fix for my graphics issues and can now play Flight without all the stutters and flutters. Now Flight does look good but Hawaii, in all it's wonderful detaili, is not enough. Hawaii has become claustrophobic. I need to be able to flex my wings. I am off back to FS9 again. Please wake me up when Alaska is released. I will look at it with a jaundiced eye
April 19, 201214 yr Well, nice to know you're feeling well back at home :-) fs9 is still a very powerful simulation platform, with lot's of good add-ons. I hoppe to see you back in the FLIGHT airspace if you ever find an upgrade to your rig :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
April 19, 201214 yr Author I hoppe to see you back in the FLIGHT airspace if you ever find an upgrade to your rig :-) Well, actually, Flight plays pretty good on my rig now after the fix. It is Flight that needs the upgrade to get us out of this claustraphobic group of islands. I still think that Flight is good and that it has huge potential to be the best sim ever but there is no guaranty that the developers have the same point of view. All the indications are that they just see Flight as some sort of 'cash cow'. Who needs this confinement to Hawaii when the whole world is out there in FS9 and FSX?
April 19, 201214 yr Well, my view is limited.... While I did have fs9, and then fsx installed, I seldom used to fly away from "home". When Cumulusx! was made availabe I used it mostly for glider flying in Portugal & Spain. I also have ELITE with the ESPO scenery (Portugal + Spain), and I am yet to be able to shoot every instrument approach on it... My long range flightsim was Aerowinx PS1, but the visuals out of windshield in PS1 are very limited, and while PSX will bring some improvements in this area, such a sim is more procedural than visual, and the very basic representation of the scenery is more than sufficient... Also, flying gliders for real, most of the time around my base of operations, I try to enjoy the sensation of flying more than the sensation of visiting remote places, and I tend to port that same attitude when I play flight simulation games... With this in mind, Hawaii is already good for me, and when I think of ALSKA I believe it'll take a LOT of time to fly all of the available missions and challenges there. I am rather satisfied with what FLIGHT already gives me... but then again, I can perfectly understand that others look for something with more extent both geographically and cockpit-wise... It all depends on our expectations :-) Well, actually, Flight plays pretty good on my rig now after the fix. It is Flight that needs the upgrade to get us out of this claustraphobic group of islands. April 19, 201214 yr Thanks for telling the world! Have fun! :LMAO: Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
April 19, 201214 yr Hawaii has become claustrophobic. With 6,459 square miles of land to explore, I don't find the Hawaiian Islands "claustrophobic" at all. I used to live there, can't get enough of those islands. FSX and FS9 was quite a bore as most of the area around the world was generic and repetitive autogen that didn't look at all like the real world. I fly locally. I never fly with the autopilot on (boring!) at 30,000 feet while I go get a pizza and watch TV and then come in a couple hours later to land it. That may be exciting for some, but not for me. When I flew FS9 and FSX, I wanted to fly around where I used to live in Florida. It was a complete bore and nothing looked like it should. At least with Flight, I can fly over areas that are pretty much modeled very close to the real thing. They took the time to get the details just right. One had to purchase huge scenery packages to get FSX up to snuff on the scenery but even then, those scenery areas didn't include where I wanted to fly locally. This is why I enjoy Flight so much, because they have concentrated on "6,459" square miles of land and have done a superb job of it. And that looks like they are going to do the same thing for even a bigger area, Alaska. So I'm sticking with Flight. I haven't gone back to FSX in a long time. www.stratoart.com Fine Art by Dale Jackson "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings..." April 19, 201214 yr With 6,459 square miles of land to explore, I don't find the Hawaiian Islands "claustrophobic" at all +1. With over 70 hours logged in Flight so far, I am still finding it very enjoyable - and I have not even started any aerocache hunts yet. I find I still have plenty to do while I await on Alaska. Don B
April 19, 201214 yr After the initial curiosity and little infatuation I went back to FSX and my consistent amount of add ons. I get bored of the lack of simulation aspects in Flight in favor of the cockpitless planes or WWII clones and also I got bored of the super boring missions. The Multiplayer is a no fun to me cause it is only a matter of planes acting like wasps close to the runway-nest. The aerocache hunt is time wasting and the earned XP points are only a number with no reward at all so I do not like them. I would like to see if Alaska will bring the usual banal plane aka Beaver or a WWII one. My 2 cents
April 19, 201214 yr Thanks for telling the world! Have fun! :LMAO: Best regards. Luis Very constructive, could the same not be said about all the "I love my cockpitless plane threads?" Thanks for telling the world! Have Fun!... Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
