  1. A few of us have raised it on the A2A forums before but not positive - it doesn't seem to make business sense and there's not enough that can be shared between the sims I think was the response. Another developer didn't like the contracts or the management, so there is some resistance at this stage. I sure hope this changes though. FSX is still stronger than DCS for now, for example Avsim (primarily an FS forum) has 800 people viewing at a single time but I haven't seen the same numbers on the DCS forum. I really like DCS and own the whole suite but I'd like to see it fill out with more content and mature some more. Especially the limited available theatre of war. Are you flying with full fuel tanks? As simmers we often land with full tanks but in real life it would be extremely unusual. Aerobatic capable planes like the P-51 rarely take full fuel except if required for extended duration missions. Also a full payload makes it more difficult. Taking care with weigh and balance in a realistic manner makes a real difference in this sim. Also just check you're locking/unlocking the tail wheel correctly with aft stick, and crossing the threshold at the correct speed, and never ever with a tailwind. Lots to consider..
  2. Mate airliners are a killer combined with detailed scenery. Don't worry too much just lock the frames at 20 for smoothness if flying complex glass cockpits like the NGX. I've clocked to 5Ghz and have SSDs, 16gb of very fast ram, killer GPU etc but FSX will always perform like a dog lol. At least I get smoothness and a beautiful directx 10 2560x1600 cockpit but never high frames compared to DCS, FSX just doesn't want to go any faster. Non-glass though is a different story, GA and A2A aircraft I can lock between 30-40 depending on the airports It may dip though. But this is still not good compared to other sims that weren't dumped, but I'm happy with for FSX as I know how hard it was to get to there.
  3. I think keep the data available. As I became more and more hungry for info on FSX the available history of "gold nuggets" at avsim forums was one of the reasons I registered, and ultimately switched over to Avsim as my main forum of choice. Avsim is at a crossroads, there is a chance here to preserve some major flight simulation history and knowledge for future users.
  4. Well I have a quad core 5ghz and FSX uses 75% of it that tells me it's using 3cores. Running at the same time AS2012, MCE, FSBuild, trackir, Foxit PDF charts, VA Acars, Sqawkbox, Firefox, utopia, Thrustmaster and other software, the more CPU the better. And those Planes that have external flight models like the upcoming Q400 I'm hopeful it can run as a separate thread on another core.. Hopeful
  5. I'm interested in this too. 2xHex core could be interesting for FSX
  6. Hi For IAS you can see it in the PFD when you adjust it so there is no need for tooltips. You can assign some buttons to inc/dec it, same as vertical speed it's the same control. I use a lua to assign it that I stole from Linda
  7. Hi Kel Thanks thats the solution exactly there is an exe in the simobjects golder. I had posted up screenshots of the success but avsim lost heaps of posts.
  8. FSBuild builds flight plan and fuel plan at the same time, taking into account the winds from Activesky2012 If its just fuel only that you want, there are a few web fuel planners out there like http://fuelplanner.com/
  9. One of the ones lost in the backup restore... Flows for the feelthere ERJ: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29331868/MCE%20ERJ%20Dans%20flows.rar To use this fully you need version 2.5.1.6 or later.
  10. I love this solution Seriously, this is the only plane I have a problem with. Bloom is fine on everything else. I'm wondering if anyone knows a technique or way to edit liveries or bump maps to make them react less with bloom. For the RV-7 it happens for all liveries, so does that mean it's a problem in the model, or do I still have a chance to fix it in user editable files?
  11. This is the latest one in the avsim library: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004util&DLID=128375 You can find profiles for other planes on the various addon developer forums and lots of fs forums
  12. In Directx 10 with fixes it doesn't seem to like the bloom very well, reckon it would be possible to replace the bump/specular to fix this? Anyone come across this before?
  13. LINDA has been great in providing the scripts to make things work as well, I posted my SPAD configs over there if anyone needs: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/349831-saitek-proflight-panels-support/page__st__25#entry2563245
  14. Radar contact the co pilot can take over the ATC. Also if your plane uses default autopilot (usually GA planes, but not PMDG etc), the copilot can also take over the plane for you too and adjust according to ATC's responses.
  15. You have a window of about 5? minutes where you can edit it before its set in stone forever and ever. If you're quick just edit it blank
  16. I think I'll probably prefer this, since I was never completely happy with GEX textures. One positive, is that all of the boundaries between FTX global and any ORBX scenery we have are going to be seamless, e.g North America, and England to Scotland, and any future areas they bring out. It's not an issue for Aus/NZ obviously though..
  17. ok thanks.. I guess it would be too good to be true. Anyone know a best guess on version 2 release?
  18. Hi All Does Prepar3d work with directx 10 and the dx10 fixes as shown on the AVSIM forum? Anyone here using it like that? I'm currently running FSX in DX10 and fairly happy with it, but if I can get better performance out of P3D then I'm considering it.
  19. Yeah I can see some events there now, I'll need to keep an eye on that and get more organised instead of just checking vatspy. I guess vatspy is kind of a bit behind because if people are already flying i've missed the start
  20. I put the second fix on in the document, it works well
  21. MCE I chose in the end after looking at the options is better in my opinion, it's under very heavy development with lots of new aircraft being added all the time. It's your plane I haven't seen much talk about for a while I think it's mainly older addons and FSX default. Plus I'm pretty fussy as I like to use my own flows and checklists, so I like MCE because I can edit the flows and fully change them to suit myself. Which planes do you have? MD-11 and A300 are really great with it. This is what it's like landing and shutdown with MD-11: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFGc1UaOq1M
  22. Thanks I'll be interested to see about P3D if it gets better.
